I drilled the holes in my 5-gallon bucket and applied the first cup. I was unsure how tight the plastic wingnuts would get and ended up stripping the first one. So be aware that they will not get super tight. I used another wingnut and drilled 3 more holes and snugged up the wingnuts without trying to tighten too much. I then added water to test the seals, and they held perfectly. I put the bucket into the chicken run, and of course the girls were hesitant. I think it will work great as long as the seals on the cups hold.

I love this product because it really works. Use with teflon pipe tape for a watertight seal guaranteed. Comes with a plastic nut for the back to tighten which other brands do not offer. I was concerned that my chicks would kick bedding into their waterer while I was at work and become dehydrated. With this product I used a 5 gallon bucket and they have plenty of access to clean water. The automatic watering cup is better for my birds than the one with a yellow nib that they must peck to release water because my chicks couldn't do that successfully. With these watering cups, the cup remains full automatically until they drink it all, then it flips upwards and triggers more filling. Prevents disease too by keeping chicken feces out of the water.

I was really looking forward to this product. The concept is excellent for my large flock of chickens. They are super easy to install, was sent with bit to drill holes, that was great. However, they leak basically nonstop. I would tighten them just enough to not strip them out. I then added plumbers tape hoping that would help with tightening them so that they would not leak and that did help with one...but it is the extra that you have to do to try and maintain them. I purchased three cases of these, total of 18 and I did reach out to seller for feedback or verbal assistance/help but have not had a response. I don't have time to babysit a water tote. Leaking would not be horrible if in the run (but still an issue with keeping the container full), but in the coop, that is an issue with their floor constantly being wet in that area. Perhaps another design from another seller would be a better route, but really not pleased with this purchase..

Very pleased with these waters not sure how they will hold but great so far keeping the girls water so much cleaner ! Put bucket on blocks 2 inches off ground so the don’t scratch in them

I was excited to receive these for an inexpensive way to create a waterer for my chickens but I was quickly disappointed. I know some of the reviews weren’t the greatest but I figured I’d still give them a try cause i know not everyone can be happy with everything. The nut on the back is plastic which in return does not tighten down completely. Once you get to where you think it will snug up and be nice and tight it slips and you have to start tightening again. I have had this set up now for 1.5-2 weeks and I keep having to retighten the nuts on the back side and straighten out the cups. I am now searching for a new waterer cause this one is just not cuttin it. To sum things up, they are getting the job done-ish but its at the expense of wasting my water from leaking and my sanity!

4 out of 5 work well. There is one that doesn't want to shut off and keeps leaking. Not sure how to fix it. I already took it apart and made sure it's assembled correct, but to no avail. I'd suggest buy an extra 1 or 2 just in case one doesn't work
