I bought this affordable knife block set to replace an old “Sabatier” set currently living in a landfill. Admittedly, I don’t cook much but I wanted my new set to have a recognizable “brand” name … mostly for warranty purposes. My budget was low(-er) but my expectations were high(-er). After reading countless reviews spanning across a wide variety of different options, I bit the bullet and bought it! The block itself is attractive and neutral. got these in october. have been using them daily. these are great quality knives and very reasonably priced. I have been using the same two steak knives over and over again just to test the edge resilience and I haven't had to sharpen either one yet, they are still pretty much as sharp as the other steak knives in the set that I haven't used. I cook dinner for my wife and I at least five times a week, usually seven since the pandemic, and these knives have held up very well. like I said, I haven't had to sharpen any of them yet and use them heavily. I do hand wash them and dry them immediately. if you don't mind having to at some point in the future sharpen these knives (which I haven't needed to in six months), this is a much better route to go than Cutco simply considering how much knife you are getting for your money with this set. I grew up with a set of Cutco knives at my parents' house and am glad that I purchased these knives instead of spending $2000 dollars on a similar set from cutco that in my opinion isn't that much different unless you really don't like sharpening knives (never had to sharpen the cutco knives) however haven't had to sharpen these either, yet. good steel, as a knife guy I know these will take an edge very easily and they certianly retain the edge for a very long time. EDIT: just had to sharpen those two steak knives that I mentioned in the above review, after almost two years (writing this in march of 2023). They didn't require much work on the stone and took an edge beautifully. Sharpened both of them in less time than it took for the stone to get saturated with water ... show more

The first thing I have noticed, in the month or more that we have owned and used them, they seem to remain sharp. When washing them by hand it is quite easy to cut oneself.
