  • It's shipped fast

  • Tough and Versatile Engine Hoist Leveler
This engine hoist leveler feels very solid and well built with the steel construction giving it a reassuringly sturdy presence. The three-position design, combined with the adjustable handle, makes it surprisingly flexible and practical for lifting engines of different sizes and weights. With a capacity of ¾ ton (1,500 lb), it's clearly built for serious use but remains easy enough to maneuver when I need to fine-tune the load I am lifting. The overall build quality suggests this is a device that can withstand repeated, heavy-duty use without showing wear too quickly. I have used this 3 times in 5 months with my ceiling mounted winch attaching to it easily when I need to lift or pull a motor. Two of those times I found this perfect to stabilize the motor I am working on while I pull engine and transmission mounts, the other time was to pull a motor from a Subaru STI to rebuild the full long block after losing the main bearings. ... show more

  • Engine Hoist Shop Crane Accessory
I received the item for free as part of the Amazon Vine review program; however, it looks like the product has completely changed since I ordered it four months ago, as I only received the end hoist and not the boom hitch. That being said, I haven't experienced any issues with it so far.

  • The Heavy Duty Engine Hoist Helper
Are you a Motorhead or a gearhead according to your other half? Do your friends show up at night and on the weekends to ask you questions about why their car is doing X instead of Y. Are there more than three inoperable (they either don’t run or shouldn’t be driven) vehicles in your driveway or yard that aren’t owned by you? If you answered “yes” to more than two of these questions, you either have an immediate need for this engine hoist / shop crane add-on or you soon will. One of my friends is that guy. Everyone in our little town shows up at his place anytime they have an issue with almost anything mechanical (if it’s a computer, mostly electronic, or a rock, it shows up at my place). Between the yard at his place and workshop at mine, we could probably build the next generation autonomous vehicle for use on Mars. Seriously, the growing groups of related “things” has reached the point of excess. With him, there seems to be an increasing dearth of vehicles requiring major motor work. Let’s face it, with a new work truck topping the price chart at over $100K, fixing what you have makes a lot of sense if it’s possible. Fortunately, new or rebuilt motors are far more economical than buying a new vehicle and this shop crane makes a motor change a lot easier at the home garage or even under the tree out back. I ordered this manual shop crane hoist for a totally different use than moving a motor but my friend quickly jumped on borrowing it for a project at his house. It’s well constructed and has a tremendous capacity of 1,500 pounds. Keep in mind that the part I received is not the entire crane assembly but rather only an accessory, the three position engine leveler. It works seamlessly with your shop crane. I’m pleased with this much needed accessory and think you will be, too. ... show more

  • Stout, Good Hardware, Good Finish, Good Value
This Engine Hoist Leveler arrived today within two heavy cardboard boxes, the inner one being particularly well sealed against moisture. The contents are not damaged. The beam and chain were not attached and both were wrapped in bubble-wrap (why, I have no idea) and all that remained for me to do was to attach the chain shackles to the beam and tighten both the shackles and chain-to-bracket connectors securely. There are two attachment holes on one end of the beam and three on the other, affording lots of flexibility in separation between the two chain assemblies. The beam is solid steel painted or powder-coated in bright red. The chain is plated as is the adjusting screw. A prescribed amount of slack is built into the screw where it passes through the eyes atop the beam and the nut at the end of the screw is heavily peened to prevent it ever coming loose. A corresponding nut on the handle end secures that end and a separate, smaller nylock secures the handle to the very end of the screw. Dimensions are given in the Amazon advertisement. There are no instructions included with the unit. The chain assemblies are brightly plated and more than up to the task. At the end of each chain is an L-shaped bracket suitable for securing into an engine block either with a vertical bolt or a horizontal bolt. The L-shaped bracket is likewise very stout. Altogether, this item appears to be quite easily up to the task of lifting a three-quarter ton engine and effortlessly adjusting the hoist to tilt and maneuver it out of an engine bay. The hood of the vehicle should be removed, of course, before removing or installing an engine into a vehicle. I applied red, tacky grease to the screw threads and ran the screw back and forth and then placed the entire assembly into a stout canvas work bag with a heavy zipper. It now resides in my garage near my folded up engine hoist and engine stand, ready for use. I highly recommend this item. ... show more
