First time we tried to use the toaster, it smelled like burning plastic. Smoke was rising out of the left side of toaster. A look inside showed melting plastic running down the inside of the toaster. You can see the black melted plastic running in the top center of the photo attached. This was purchased as a 2024 Christmas gift, but not put into service until late June this year, so it's outside the return window. It looks great, but is an utter failure in performance. Like: Clean lines, seems very sturdy, finish should clean easily, looks good on my counter. Dislike: Nothing so far. I only gave this toaster a 4 star rating solely because it is too new and I won't have any thoughts on durability or uniformity of toasting over time. But first uses are showing great promise. Additional likes; digital controls illuminate when the toast is plugged in. The display is very easy to use. So far, amount of toasting is consistent with the color-choice controls. And there is a count-down clock for each toasting cycle...I know exactly when it will pop! When done, after some seconds, the display goes dark except for the 'cancel' icon. In the morning, touching that activates the display for use. Really pleased so far. I replaced a toaster that performed well for 9 years and just recently began giving uneven toasting of regular items. Fingers crossed for long use of this new one! ... show more

    • Barely adequate long slot toaster
Long slot, 4 slice toaster : Have used it for just a few days so still playing with settings. Pretty uneven toasting but the instructions indicate the outside elements get hotter than those inside for bagels. Seems like that's the same for bread. We had an Oster toaster previously and had to flip bread to get a more even toast so nothing new. You'd think the Chinese could figure out how to build a toaster but I think they just want us to keep buying a new one every couple of years. I like the toasting timer. Toasting time is similar to my old Oster. Darkness settings seem to work. If I had more counter space I'd have bought a more versatile oven instead of this flimsy toaster. ... show more

I have been looking for a toaster to replace and old one. I finally decided on this one because on the long opening. You can toast 4 regular slices or do two extra long slices. I like the pop up warming bars, didn't think that I would use them, but I do. Great toaster. Highly recommend.
