  • Great hand feel
The Eocogup multi-use chef knife is a really great looking blade. I appreciate the interesting design and the finger grip allows a very secure grip on the handle, and making it a pleasure to use. While using the forward finger slot, it has a really, REALLY great hand feel to me. It’s slightly weighted towards the back end (handle side) which makes using it feel light and very maneuverable, despite it being quite a thick stock. The handle is hard wood, and you have to look closely to even tell it’s machine made. There were a few roughly sanded spots, but after applying a bit of oil and buffing all the surfaces and edges a bit with a cloth they came out smooth and with gorgeous wood grain showing (see photos). The included sheath is appreciated if you’re bringing it outdoors, and it’s made of a fairly thick and stiff leather material. It’s actually only a half layer of leather as a veneer, and the rest is what looks like reconstituted leather particle sheet. The half that’s a veneer is good looking stuff, and I am fine with them using the cheaper stuff inside since it may work better around the blade without getting scratched and sliced up. Instead, my real complaint with the sheath is that it leaves a little too much wiggle room, and the knife seems a little too loose in it unless you push it all the way back where the blade is sliding against the stitched side. For the blade itself, it arrived fairly sharp and I’ve enjoyed cooking and slicing with it a few times so far. The steel is made using 5Cr15Mov stainless steel, which is on the lower end of knife steel and doesn’t hold an edge extremely well - but it’s acceptable steel for a multipurpose blade like this and it’s only drawback is it may need sharpening slightly more often. Although I don’t know the true composition, I did notice mine arrived with minor rust specks starting near the tip of the blade (see circled area in photo) which would not buff out, but sharpening the knife should take care of them. It’s a cool knife though and I’m happy with its quality overall, especially at this price point. ... show more

  • Solid, substantial damascus steel chef's knife with leather sheath!
The media could not be loaded. This 11.1 inch damascus steel chef's knife is gorgeous. It has black bubbling on the top that looks cool. The blade is very sharp. The blade has a 1 ⅛ x ⅞ inch opening near the hilt, a finger hole to help grip/stabilize the knife. It is something that I have not used before. It is an interesting feature that could help a lot with accuracy. The knife hilt also has a bottle opener and a glass breaker, features that could be helpful on a fishing/camping trip. Per the description, the knife has gone through an extra CNC processing step. A quick Google search says that CNC stands for Computer Numerical Control and that means computer controlled hard milling. CNC knife cutting machines don't transfer heat while cutting, which keeps blades cleaner with fewer burrs, scratches, or flaws. It seems to remove the heat treating and grinder steps of knife making, which can introduce errors. The knife is still hand finished after the CNC processing. The gist of CNC processing is it can result in cleaner, error free blades with fewer flaws, making the knife designs more accurate, without the small differences and uniqueness that comes from handmade knives. As I am getting this knife as a gift for a fisherman, I just need it to reliably work. But for a not fully handmade knife, I do feel that it is beautiful and could be displayed, though it does not come with a display stand. The knife comes with a brown real leather sheath. The sheath has an approximately 2 ½ inch width loop for belts or straps, in other words, the belt needs to be less than 2 ½ inches wide to fit through the loop. The loop strap is ¾ wide. The loop is not snap openable; it is riveted closed, making it very secure. The snap knife holding strap does snap open. The sheath holds the knife securely. The knife blade is fat, almost 2 ¼ inches at the widest area. So the sheath is needed as it would not fit into most kitchen knife blocks if you decided to use it in your kitchen instead of in the field. The wooden handle is a nice, traditional look that should fit in with any knife set. The wood grain is good looking. The wooden handle portion is about 5 inches long and feels good in the hand. The knife cut through a loaf of soft French bread beautifully, not crushing the bread at all. I did not test it on anything else as it is a gift, but I expect it will do great with fish. This may be the finest knife I have ever used. ... show more

  • Attractive, large blade, good balance
First impression is wow, this looks cool. A broad, curved blade, wood handle and leather sheath. Nice. In hand it feels balanced, the curvature of the blade is great for cutting beef. The weight is adequate and contributes when chopping various food items. The blade, close to the spine, has indentations that give the impression it was hand crafted but that is doubtful at this price point, but makes the knife attractive. A great gift and something to brag about at the next bbq. ... show more

  • Great quality knife
I always choose Vine items that I plan to use personally or for my family, and I strive to provide an honest and fair review based on our experience with the product. My ratings range from 1 star to 5 stars, depending on how well the product meets our needs and expectations. This multi-purpose chef knife seems to high quality and very well made. It is super sharp. I shaved a few hairs off my are just to test it out. I also used it to slice up a few different vegetables and it worked great. It is very comfortable to hold and feels really nice. The first time it got wet, a little roughness developed on the wood handle, but I just sanded it down a little with 220 grit sandpaper and applied some Tung oil, which is the best for wood and it now looks and feels perfect. Overall, I'm extremely pleased with this chef knife, especially considering the reasonable price. I'm confident that it will hold up well over time, but I'll update my review if any issues arise. Thank you for reading! I hope you find this review, the video, and the accompanying pictures helpful in making your purchasing decision. 😊 ... show more
