Chattanooga Primera TENS/NMES Unit with HAN Waveform allows you to apply TENS and NMES systems to provide a more well-rounded healing process. TENS systems involve non-invasive nerve stimulation through small electrical currents. These currents trigger your body to produce endorphins which help to control your pain. NMES systems are used to reduce muscle spasms, tone weak muscles, and assist in the healing process. They do this through emission of electrical pulses to stimulate repeated muscle contraction. The HAN TENS Waveform system uses Dense-and-Disperse modes of stimulation where 2 Hz is alternating with 15 or 70 Hz, each lasting three seconds. This unit includes an extensive range of program options, with eight programs for TENS and six programs for NMES. The TENS and NMES have an amplitude range of 0-80 mA. I suffered a stroke a little over 2 months ago. While in the hospital, the Occupational Therapist used a machine similar to this one on my arm and hand to try to wake the muscles back up. It seemed to work, so when I was released I wanted to continue the same kind of electrical treatment. I asked my outpatient OT what they thought and they felt it was a good idea. I asked them which machine they would recommend and she said she needed to ask around and let me know. She is part of an email group with other OTs around the country, so she sent out an email blast to all of them to see which unit they recommended, and the majority of them all said the Chattanooga Primera TENS/NMES Unit, so that is the one she told me to get (I guess you could say that this product is the recommended choice of Occupational Therapists! ). Anyway, with all of that said, I couldn't be more pleased with this product! It is VERY easy to use and it has helped me regain movement in my arm and hand greatly! The unit comes with a very nice travel bag, as well as a very helpful booklet with diagrams which shows you the proper points to place the electrodes. It even comes with electrodes already in the kit, so there is no need to purchase extra ones until you need them! Everything you need is in the box. I was using it within 15 minutes of opening the box! The other great thing about this unit is that it is TENS and NMES! This is VERY handy (be sure to look up what the difference is)! I have primarily used it for NMES purposes, but recently needed to use the TENS feature and it helped a lot! Physical therapist x25 years here. I purchased this device on Amazon in 2018. It is still working! I personally use it for any neck and or back pain I experience and it helps tremendously! Easy to use, several different programs. Unless you have a contraindication its is definitely worth a try!

    • Great NMES unit
Got this for muscle stimulation after nerve damage. Works great. At first I thought battery life was bad, but I just needed to change out the adhesive pads. Battery life was fine. Not the same as in the Drs office, there is more of a pulse to the NMES mode, but it gets the job done.

    • It is very easy to use.
This stimulator is palm size and very handy to use. It can easily be placed anywhere when in use. The programs are preset: I only need to choose one most suitable program and adjust the electric strength (mA) for the correct stimulation of the muscle. I use it on my wife for NMES.

My physical therapist has the Chatanooga brand NMES and recommeded this personal home use model. Neuro stimulation is great. It has two ports that operate 2 sets of positive and negative pads simultaneously. Great purchase for the money.

    • Works like my physical therapist's unit.
I don't know if this does what it's supposed to do, since I'm not using it for pain relief, but to regenerate a nerve in my arm after it was damaged. Nerves that regenerate do so very, very slowly and not all damaged nerves are capable of being regenerated. My physical therapist uses a very similar on me weekly. The feeling of this unit is exactly like my therapist's unit. So, does it work? I don't know. It's too early to tell and if the nerve does come back would I be able to attribute its recovery to this? Again, I don't know. But I'm willing to try anything to get my mobility back. ... show more

Arrived in excellent condition and well packaged. The unit runs on a 9 VDC battery and has 14 program levels that let you select the perfect setting for your needs.     • Self adhesive electrodes no longer available
I purchased the unit about 2 years ago and it works great. The electrodes provided in the package eventually wore out and fell off too easily. On the Amazon site they offer additional self adhesive electrodes as a component to this unit. The original electrodes were provided by Compex and the ones available today come from Dura-Stick. Problem is the new ones don't connect with the unit correctly and the stimulation is about 5% of what the original electrodes provided. I contacted Compex and they no longer make leadwire electrodes.
