This winch kit is the perfect combination of power and performance to use with your ATV, trailer, boat or snowmobile. Champion’s thoughtful design includes an auto-off feature - the remote automatically powers off when not in use to keep your vehicle's battery from being drained unnecessarily. The 38-foot by 15/64-inch galvanized, super-duty aircraft cable is less prone to fraying, even when used in highly abrasive terrain, such as in rocks, mud, or sand.     • Excellent 4500 lb winch with wireless remote
I purchased the 4500 lb winch with steel cable, rocker switch and wireless remote. Extreme quality winch. This is my second champion winch (other is 12,000 lb on my truck). Quite a job to install with all the wiring but Champion provides excellent installation instructions for all the wiring. The contractor is even color coded for proper hookups. It comes with really long wires and cables. I shortened all of mine to length for my install and crimped on new terminal ends. This avoids piles of excess wires/cables. The wireless remote is a must - once you use a winch with a wireless remote you will never go without one. I installed one on my 12K truck winch. Makes walking the cable back to hookup really easy. Champion has super customer service. I needed a frame part on the truck winch that did not show on the parts list. The found the part from another winch model and saved me from having to replace the entire motor to get the motor frame mounting plate. They are located in America and speak normal English.     • Works well so far. Plus update
I bought this winch to operate a pickup mounted large round bale mover that I custom built. It seems to work good and I like the wireless option. It allows me to operate it within my cab without having to drill holes through it to run wires. I haven't really put it to the test for pulling abilities as I have the cable going through 3 pulleys to reduce the pulling pounds to lift a bale. For reference, I had a 3K lb winch on it before and just 1 pulley and that did lift the bale but it struggled so I added the extra pulleys. Then I found this winch and wanted the wireless option and that's why I traded up. So far it seems to be a good product and was easy to install. UPDATE 2/10/15... Winch is still working good. I just let the wire out to lower the bale spear, back into the bale of hay, hit the button on the remote to lift and drive off. Only issue I've had is that sometimes while letting the wire out, it will uncoil or create a loose coil on the spool its wound around because there's not enough tension on the empty spear when it first starts to tip. I guess the weight is too balanced on the hinge point. This causes the wire to get a little messy on the spool and when it is tightened and has put a few kinks in the cable but I think this can happen to any winch in this situation. However, one time it did cause the bolt that holds the end of the cable to the spool to sheer off. I was able to drill it out and taped it for a larger bolt and haven't had any problems since. I'm guessing the winch relays on the cables tension against itself while rolling up to do most of the pulling. So far it's been a good winch and has fit my needs pretty well. ... show more

    • Great winch for the money; installed on a '21 Polaris Ranger XP1000
I bought 2 of these; 1 for the front and 1 for the rear (they're cheap; why not?). These had some great reviews from my friends, so I thought I'd give them a try. The price is certainly attractive (a fraction of the cost of lot of other brands). I haven't had a chance to use it yet, but my friends swear by theirs. The line speed is slightly faster than I'm used to; time will tell if that's a good thing or not. The included hardware seems robust; wiring, contactor, remote, etc looks to be of decent quality. First thing I did though was to remove the wire rope and roller fairlead in favor of synthetic rope and a hawse fairlead (mainly for the safety reasons and reduced weight). If you're interested, the wire rope attaches via a machine screw to the drum (on the bottom; not on the side of the drum). Keep this in mind if ordering synthetic rope at the same time. ETA: Just in case anyone else is wondering, on the 2 winches that I ordered (and use on the same vehicle; F&R), the wireless remotes operate on different frequencies. So, you don't have to worry about 1 remote accidentally controlling both winches; each remote is for that winch (antenna) only. ... show more

Have have this winch little over two years now. It replaced 3000lb on 1000cc can am. Have only used it half dozen times. Really made a pull difference from the one it replaced, so my opinion this is a good strong winch. Minus one star, for relay has gone bad just from sitting, now these are acceptable parts that do go out. But seemed as lite as it's been used, should still be working. I am replacing with 500 amp relay, from 250 amp that comes with this unit. This is a good strong winch I do recommend ... show more

    • Awesome winch for my CF moto 600 touring
I bought this champion 4500 winch to replace the 3500 no name factory one on my CF moto 600 atv. It mounted right in where the factory one was. Zero modifying to fit. Except I did replace the steel cable with a 8000lb rope. The wireless remote part was a pain but that's due to the atv being build like a car and having to remove a lot of body parts to get to the switch. But the switch was the exact same as the factory one so mounted right where the factory one was. Even used all the factory power/ground wired from battery to the winch. Hopefully it gives me years of use before it wears out. Only got a handful of uses of of the no name factory one. ... show more

I bought this based on the other reviews and I am not disappointed at all. Super easy to mount and wire up. I needed a winch for my trailer to eliminate using a come-a-long. I've had to transport an older jaguar that is about 2 tons. This last time I didn't have any help, so I bought this winch with the remote feature. I had to use the the winch fully extended plus 2 full length tow chains to reach the car due to muddy conditions. It pulled it through all of that with no problem. Got it to the ramp of the trailer and disconnected all of the chains and hooked directly to the car. In the process, like a dummy, I got in the car to let the window down and accidentally put the car in park. Forgetting to put in back in neutral, I started winching it onto the trailer. I noticed it was really laboring to pull the car up the ramp and just thought the car was too heavy. Then as the back tires slid by me while cresting the ramp, I realized my mistake. So I'm saying all of that to give credit to the power of this winch running from my RV battery. Can't speak to how long it will last, but so far I'm super pleased with its performance. And the remote feature worked flawlessly. My trailer has tall sides which prevents the doors from being opened on the car. The remote made it possible to load this by myself. ... show more

    • Remote control is a real plus!
Two weeks after I installed the winch I shot an 8 point buck with my crossbow. The woods in WV where I hunt is rough and steep. I shot him on a flat but as luck would have it he went off the flat and straight down the steep side of the hill. Found him dead about 100 feet off the flat. The winch had 50 feet of cable plus I had another 30 feet rope. My son and I managed to pull him up the additional 20 feet or so to pull him up with the winch. Being down over the hill 50 feet from the side x side I used the remote control switch. That was a life saver. The one time paid for itself. I highly recommend this 4500 lb.     • Very Easy to follow setup
This winch is really nice. There is plenty of length to the wires. Very easy to connect up. The directions were very easy to view and very understandable. I am not an electrical professional...ALL of the wires and connections are color coded and can fit together ONLY in the correct connection. I only needed to tap into 10amp circuit, one wire--which my son-in-law located for me. The winch works great! It is custom mounted to front end of my tractor. I pulled the tractor up a very steep embankment, no problem. My primary usage is dragging logs up a slope. You can use the hand-held switch and use your other hand to guide the log up the slope to tractor. Very nice! I also used winch with pulley connectors to lift plywood panels to top of fire place. Winch is incredible force multiplier and makes moving items very easy. I highly recommend this winch because of ease and simplicity of hookup. Other cheaper devices have crummy instructions and way too short wiring ... show more
