When looking for athletic shorts I have three basic requirements: 1- they must be lightweight, 2- they must have pockets, and 3- they must settle near my knees. These shorts meet all of them perfectly! Here are the highlights: LIGHTWEIGHT: I primarily use these shorts for running, so a lightweight fabric is a must. This has become especially important to me since, what with COVID19-related-closures, I can't go to my gym anymore and need to run outside in the summer heat. These shorts ended up being just what I needed. They're comprised of two mesh layers placed on top of each other and are incredibly breathable. POCKETS: I also sometimes use my exercise shorts as pajama bottoms or to just lounge around the house, so having pockets is also a must! The pockets in these pants are deep and well-padded, with more than enough space to hold my phone, headphones, wallet, and/or anything else I need. KNEE-LENGTH: While I love running, I've never gotten used to "runners' shorts" that come up too far above my knees. I was a little worried that these shorts would be long enough for me (I'm 6'3"), but they ended up being the perfect length! They reach my knees perfectly (see picture) and look/feel comfortable whether I'm standing up or sitting down. I ordered these Champion mesh shorts in XLT Black in July 2024 and absolutely loved them (5/5 stars for fit and deep pockets). However, when clicking "Order Again" and buying the larger 2XLT size in Blue, the product changed entirely. The original XLT black pairs were made in El Salvador and have deep, functional pockets. The new, larger 2XLT blue pairs were made in Vietnam and the pockets are completely useless. They are essentially tiny change pockets, my cell phone doesn't fit, and my hands only fit up to the knuckles of my hand. It makes no sense that a bigger "Big and Tall" size would have smaller pockets than a standard XLT size. The comfort and fabric fit are still a 5/5, but the total lack of pocket utility drops these to a 3/5. The listing does not disclose that changing sizes or colors means getting an inferior pocket design from a different country. ... show more
