The sound is awesome compared to the Echo Dot 5! I had to replace my original Echo 4 because of bad cracking in the speakers. I'm very satisfied and impressed with this device!

    • Refurbished Units May Still Have Issues (Amazon will make it right)

This review is focused on refurbished units. The Echo (4th Gen) | With premium sound is a high quality unit that provides a wonderful listening experience. When paired for stereo they are just awesome for their size. But, what about refurbished units? I ordered five of these and found a variety issues. Pros: (refurbished units) * Each unit came well packaged in pristine boxes indistinguishable from brand new units (Excellent) * Units were free from physical defects such as dings scratches or dirt. (Excellent) * All manuals, power supplies and accessories were includes. (Excellent) * Customer service resolving issues was excellent Cons: (refurbished units) * Three of five units had issues * One unit would not connect to wi-fi. (was resolved by performing a factory reset) * One unit would provide sound only from tweeters ( was resolved by exchanging) * One unit had an intermittent power supply when cranking it up ( put this one in a low use area) In my opinion although is is difficult to insure refurbished units are defect free especially when problems are intermittent Amazon still can do better at the refurbishment process. The unit that had no sound clearly was sent out without anyone checking it out. The unit that required a factory reset could have been avoided by a procedure in the refurbishment process that says to reset every unit. Lastly the unit with the intermittent power supply is understandable as this is a difficult thing to test for. Summary: Amazon will stand behind their product and make it right. The 4th gen Echo is a great product that will provide many hours of enjoyment. From my experience you may want to be aware that when buying a refurbished unit you may have to work with Amazon customer service to resolve a few issues. ... show more

Like new packaged in original box in excellent condition. Sounds great with many features and easy to set up and pair with other compatible smart devices. The voice command is sometimes non responsive and have to repeat commands. The little brother “Echo Dot 5th gen” is more responsive at a greater distance. Good device. Much larger than I expected. Good quality sound. I ordered black and I got a black unit with a white cord. Why would anyone want that ?
