I’d been holding off on buying this thermostat for quite some time based on reviews and even considered other pricier brands for the same reason but I finally decided to give it a try because I’m sick of having to go over to the thermostat and manually adjust it (first world problem right?) I am so pleased with my decision that immediately after installing it, I bought this renewed unit to replace our second thermostat upstairs. Installation was easy and took about 15-20 minutes to install and set up in the app. The unit mounts with 3 screws and anchors, a small screwdriver tool and an optional wall plate. A word of advice - use a better screwdriver because the included tool isn’t great. You’ll also need a drill with a 3/8” bit to assist with the wall anchors. This renewed unit is just as good as the new one I purchased at half the cost! It came with new mounting hardware and when comparing side by side, I could not tell you which one was which. I’d absolutely make the same decision to purchase the renewed unit again. Some of the reviews I’d read in the past mentioned that people had trouble with the app recognizing two thermostats, that was not the case at all with me. It was extremely easy to differentiate in the app and just as easy to control each one. Another review that made me worry about buying this thermostat was that you couldn’t simply tell your Alexa device to adjust the temperature, and that you had to open the app to make adjustments. This problem must have been resolved or a solitary issue because ours works just fine with voice commands. This thermostat does not offer a sensor option to monitor a particular room or area, so if you’re looking for that, you may need to look at other options. As far as smart settings, you have two options. Alexa can learn your routines and track your phone’s location to adjust the temperatures accordingly when you’re home or away. This works best when everyone in the household connects to the app and consents to tracking. It will even adjust the temperature to your desired settings when you’re within a certain range of your home. If this option isn’t for you, it will allow you to set schedules and desired temperature ranges throughout each day of the week. But you’re still able to log into the app and make adjustments when needed.

Got this to replace a non-smart thermostat. Bought the refurbished one bc usually there isn't anything wrong with the product but rather the prior buyer. Took about 5 min to install. NO I structions, NO QR code which Alexa wanted to make the process faster. Just placed the thermostat into program mode and 2 minutes later it was good to go. "C" wire is required. Without it, the thermostat either won't work or will need an adapter

I hate the term refurbished. it may mean something with refrigerators, or car parts. but with such electronics, it is a non-term. Why? because there is nothing to refurbish. Such devices have no replaceable parts. I finally got one of the many refurbishers to explain to me how they refurbish such equipment. In this case it was a motherboard, which again has no replaceable part. They admitted that all they can do is clean it up, make sure all the sockets work, and it posts. I am sure it is a similar process for all such electronics. Most of the time when electronics are returned and there is no obvious flaw, they are intermittent or one of many functions may not work. And refurbishers NEVER check all of the functions! Such was the case with this thermo. It seemed to work OK, and, yes it was wired correctly, but the cooler never came on. everything else worked well. Contacted Amazon, they sent out another one, this time just plain used, like new. Plugged it in, boom! everything worked. Went back and forth a couple of times (is just a plug in mounting) just to make sure and the results were the same. New one worked, this one didn't. Just wanted to put a bit of clarity out there...

This thermostat is by far one of the best I’ve had thus far! Installation was super easy and beings I had a Honeywell it was almost plug and play! The temperature control was very simple to set up through the Alexa app! I was also able to set up the away feature that allows me to walk out with out having to set my thermostat! I would recommend this product to anyone!

I have been wanting this smart thermostat for years. We have Alexa throughout the house so this makes sense. You do need to be a little electrical savvy and yes, you need to have some brain cells if you plan on doing the swap yourself. I got it done in about 20 minutes. The hardest part for me was figuring out which breaker was for the a/c unit (labels should be mandatory, am I right? Yes, yes I am.). I had already done my research, so I knew I had the C wire already. If you don't, you'll need that. There was a disposable screwdriver in the box, but I used my own. I like that there was a back plate to go behind the thermostat. Perfect since my old one was a rectangular beast. I've had this set up for a few weeks now. I like that I can set a schedule on the app. I like that I can simply ask Alexa to set the temp to whatever. Note: If you want say 71 at night and 75 during the day in the summer, be sure to turn off heat in the app or else your heater will kick on to turn the temp up. That was my first mistake. Once I turned off the heat option in the app, my house temp rose naturally until it got to 75. Now, I did give this smart thermostat 4 stars. The reason for this is the possible reliability issue. There is no way to keep the a/c or heater going when there is no internet. I don't know if that's standard for these across the brands? If so, that should really be addressed because internet can be crazy at times. Actually, I only realized this could be a bad thing because one of my dogs hit the power button on the serge protector that my router is plugged into. Overall, I am sooo excited to have my smart thermostat! It was super easy to set up with my current Alexa house. No more having to schlep my way outta bed to go turn down the thermostat for the night :)
