Description

Have you ever wondered how the original (and still most popular!) freestanding bag came to be? Once upon a time, if you wanted to train on a bag, you needed to hang it. This meant drilling holes in your ceiling or wall, or investing in a hanging bag stand. Although all these options are fine and dandy in some situations, sadly, they don’t work for people with limited space, those who can’t/don’t want to drill into their walls, or those who need to use one room for multiple purposes and therefore can’t have permanently affixed bags. We decided that was no good. So, we made the Wavemaster! This freestanding bag can be used for the same types of training as a traditional heavy bag, but with several advantages! First, the Wavemaster can be easily moved! Just tip it onto the side of the base and roll it. Even when it is fully filled (use sand or water, and it weighs up to 250 lbs.), it’s a one-person job. Second, it’s simple to set up! Once it arrives at your door, all you have to do is: 1) take it out of the box, 2) set up the base, 3) fill the base with your choice of heavy substance, 4) put the bag onto the base. The end! No special tools, equipment, or skills needed! Not to mention, the Wavemaster is adjustable! There are seven height settings, from 47” to 68”, so whether you’re working oblique kicks or head kicks, you can use the Wavemaster. The bag section of the Wavemaster is 24” tall with a 19.5” diameter. Available in Black, Blue or Red Wavemaster is a registered trademark of Century, LLC. U.S. Patent 5,624,358 Note that there is an additional shipping fee of $15.00 for this item.

  • Kicking boxing the bad energy away!
Color: Black
So after a lot of researching on this product I finally bought it and it was delivered super fast surprisingly. It came in perfect condition and was already assemble for me and my spouse to place outside in the backyard. So we didn't fill the base with water like some did in their reviews. We decided to use sand to fill the base and bought four bags of sand from Home Depot. We got a small shovel also. Honestly pouring the sand into that small hole where the base is connected was a nightmare! Due to it was a small hole and the sand kept spilling all around the base. So we had to use our heads and make a funnel out of foil, place it on-top of the hole and pour sand into the funnel. That worked perfectly though it took three days to fill the base with all four bags of sand. If you can have a partner or friend take turns pouring the sand it saves time. I would suggest using a chair to sit down while pouring the sand like we did as we took turns. Anyway's after three days of filling sand it was finally done. And it was worth it because after giving it a few tests of punching the bag it seemed to be pretty sturdy. We are happy with the product to this day. We enjoy kicking the bag and punching the bag for our workouts now. Very pleased with this product. I would recommend it to whoever is reading this or thinking of buying this item. Especially during this COVID-19 where boxing gyms are closed right now and people are missing working out and letting stress be released. ... show more

  • Downgrade from a hanging heavy bag
Color: Black
I've had a hanging heavy bag for as long as I can remember. We moved to a house with low ceilings so it was difficult to rig up my heavy bag so it didn't hang so low. I got the bright idea that one of these standing bags would be ideal. And this one seems to get the best reviews. My biggest complaint like many others is this thing just gets pushed around all over the place. One good left hook to the body and it's pushed several inches away. So you're definitely going to be chasing this bag. And on a tile floor as you punch it and it slams back down its extremely noisy. Fixed all of that with some gorilla non slip material that I got right here on Amazon. Criss-crossed (4) 20 inch wide strips across the very bottom and hot glued them in place. Now not only is it quieter. It doesn't slide around. It still has some nice give to it. But I'm not running all over chasing it down. The vinyl/synthetic leather, whatever is wrapped with is a very cheap looking material. Almost like tarp material. The foam padding is very comfortable to punch. Overall I'm happy with it. It just needed some adjustments. But if you have the option, opt for a hanging heavy bag. Since writing this review I've already figured out a way to get my hanging heavy bag back up. There's no replacing what you get with the hanging heavy bags. ... show more

  • Not as sturdy as I hoped it would be.
So, as a former martial art and cardio kickboxing instructor. I was looking forward to buying this one. My last actually had a better base, but the neck (where the striking pad sits) was a seperate piece and eventually broke due to continuous striking (nothing lasts anymore lol). Anyway, The difference between the one I had and this one is the bottom base on the old one was detachable. It was easy to put sand bags (I had about 200 lbs worth of sand bags and about 100 lbs of weights a good 300lbs of resistance) and that baby did move nowhere lol. With this new one. It has a single base neck connection. The plug is on the base and you really only can put water in it although with a large funnel, you could probably add sand. The problem with that would be getting the sand out if you have to move it lol. Anyway...once the base water reaches the plug line it is full and will overflow if you try to go past (it happened to me lol). For this reason, It does not hold a lot of weight as listed (maybe 170?) . Now, every time I punch or kick the bag, it moves all over the place. I was even contemplating putting bricks around it to help stationary. Overall...it's great if you don't mind chasing it and continuously rolling it back in place lol. It is durable enough to take your kicks and punches. but if you don't wear some type of hand protection (gloves or wraps), you can injure your hand or wrist, or rip the skin on your knuckles (you have been warned lol) I will say however is is more durable than the last because it's all one instead of a separate base and neck. Hope that helps. ... show more

  • In hitting heaven
I had wanted a heavy bag for a long time, and had just been putting it off. My husband got this for me, went and got the bags of sand, and at my suggestion based on other reviews, a funnel. He started filling it when I was at work, and he texted that it was going to take forever because the sand clogs the funnel (cut the end off, by the way for a wider mouth). He had about half a 50lb bag of sand in the base, and that took him about an hour. I got home and I watched for a minute or two. I got a butter knife and a chair and sat next to him. You can fill this on your own, but it is easier with two; one to scoop and one to stir. The trick is to use the butter knife and stir like you're mixing frosting in a bowl. It is easier to have someone to scoop because you can get a 2 cup scoop of sand down in about 15 seconds and it helps keep your stride and pace to not have to stop. Now, if you don't have a helper, I discovered on the last bag (of course) that if you cut the bag open and let it sit a few hours, it dries just enough to make it go that much faster, and while my bags averaged 25 to 30 minutes, the last bag was completely in the base (yeah, I used the full 250lbs of sand...I figured when "they" said 230lbs, they meant the base if full at that amount but it looks like I could probably do another bag but based on the instructions, I wouldn't) in about 15 minutes. So the slightly drier sand makes all the difference in the world! I use this bag regularly. I can't speak to sliding around with the impact. I have mine on carpet in the corner, and I have an old yoga mat that I hate rolled up and in between the base and wall, so it sits solid and takes impact with no trouble. ... show more
