  • MIND BLOWN, Works perfectly, easy to set up! Flawless Operation. Using with Dansony Retro 1950 Phone
Okay, I am just going to list the review for the Dansony Phone, because I also cover the Cell2Jack. I am totally blown away with the quality of this reproduction of the classic Western Electric F500. The quality is amazing... Handset feels great. Internals of the handset work and sound perfect, just like the original, i.e. - a joy to use. Ringer sounds amazing, totally metallic and correct. Not too loud, but loud enough, particularly if you place the phone on a flat hard surface. If you want it quieter, just put it on a table with a towel top or fabric cover. Now, HOW to use in 2023... Cell2Jack - REVIEW: So, there is this device on Amazon called: Cell2Jack. This is a small, inexpensive device, that will shunt your cell phone calls to THIS RETRO PHONE via BlueTooth. I.E. - You do not need a landline or VOIP to use this!!! It's so easy to set up, just pair with your cell phone and poof, this phone will start receiving calls and ringing when a call is incoming. It's so fun, and fantastic. And... and and and, you can easily use this retro phone to call out, so you pick up the handset, and guess what, you actually hear a dial tone!!!! Then, you simply dial your number and it connects, just like it was a landline. You can have your cellphone many feet from you, and silence the ringer, so only the repro phone rings. I got the Black one, which is so 1950s/1960s retro. This phone dials as a pulse dial, but in the background, converts to tone... which means you can do everything with it, that you can do on a regular cell call. It also has the pound and asterisk. This whole setup, the phone and the Cell2Jack, was both only aound 80 buck-a-roos. What a deal, and what fun! You can also use this Cell2Jack with other old phones. It's an amazing little device!!! Anyway, for the money this is one great phone! I sure hope this company makes other retro models, like the 1940s Western Electric 302, which is really a beautiful model. ... show more

  • Simple, and works.
There are only a few solutions for linking mobile phones to existing house/desk phones. The other "box" solution is about four times more expensive, and that leaves only replacement of any existing phones with a Bluetooth-enabled cordless system at substantial cost. I wanted to link my mobile to an existing set of Panasonic cordless phones, and this box did exactly that. This is a SIMPLE solution. Three connections, pair with the mobile, done. It does not offer any of the fancy transfer of contacts to the cordless system that seems to be highly problematic with the other solutions, so you will have to manually enter key contacts into the house system or use voice-assistant dialing on the mobile. The engineering of the device is... odd. First off, the images don't show that this device is tiny - 2x3 inches or so. It also has two status LEDs that work oddly. As an electronics designer, I would make the red LED the power-on/ready indicator and the blue one the "paired/working" one... but the makers here have reversed the colors, which can be a little confusing. Furthermore, the blue power/on LED is both oversized and insanely bright... like, pocket flashlight bright (I tried it and could read small print in the dark). It's not something you will want visible on a desk or side table or wherever you park your cell phone and house-phone base unit. My only problem with the unit and setup was that my phone (an older Note 5) refused to re-pair automatically when brought back into connection range. I thought I was going to have to send this device back, since I didn't want to have to manually reconnect every time I came home or reset the phone. But the Note 5 has known problems with BT connection, and in the end, a laborious factory reset and update cured the problem. It now reconnects to the Cell2Jack within a minute of coming back into the house, as most phones probably will. As for voice quality, it's no better than most mobile service and maybe a touch rougher, but my house phones are just for convenience anyway. A key point that the makers don't emphasize enough is that the mobile should remain very close to the Cell2Jack box... if you want it to work well, put the charging stand right on the same shelf or table as the adapter and the cordless phone base. Much more than 25 feet away, especially through walls, and you'll get increasingly degraded voice quality and DTMF tone response. But in the end, it works, does a simple job well and is inexpensive compared to other, more complicated solutions. ... show more

  • Works. Sometimes noisy. Extension phones can be a bit different for talking.
Works. Setup is pretty straightforward, just follow the instructions. Works well for one old phone at a time. You're cell phone works as usual. If you answer on your cell you wont hear anything as all the audio is switched to your phone line. You can answer on your cell or your old phone and talk on the old phone. I have it connected to my house line so I can plug in extra phones like I used to have it with my land line. We used to have 'conference calls' which different people on each hand-held phone. I can pick up on either phone but if I pick up the extension, and then pick up the phone closest to the cell phone, it will cut off the extension. If I pick up the phone closest to the cell, then the extension, I can hear on both and use it like I used to. I noticed that the quality of my extension phone is much better than the phone next to the cell. Oh well. There is some noise when using both old line phones at the same time and it is a bit hard to hear on one of them (the cheaper one) - wish there was a volume control to get more volume. When using any one phone, it is fine. The background noise is not really noticeable on either of my phones although my extension phone's background noise is nonexistent and the volume is higher. It is a better phone though, one from an office. I like it and am glad I got a good working cell2jack so I can pick up my phone in the other room instead of running where the cell phone is. Would definitely buy again. Edit after a couple of months: Not always consistent. Sometimes just gives silence when picking up a call and the other person gets silence also - no contact made. Recently, did not trigger the answering machine but went to voicemail on the cell phone so did not know anyone called. Also, most times now, does not connect call when pick up extension. Not reliably working. ... show more
