  • Clear Bright Porro Prism Binoculars
Style: 10-30x50 Zoom- Porro
I am starting to injoy these Up Close G2 10-30×50 Binoculars. The optics are of good quality. Clear Bright Images . They are a little difficult to focus at first but as you use them it gets a little easier. Sturdy well built. Not to heavy some were around 2lbs. I do suggest a Trypod for they start to get heavy and shaky after holding awhile. I was able to catch the comet as it went by here in Carmichael ca. This evening 10-15 2024. I could see the heat waves behind the Comet. Do not have phone mount for binoculars. Will need to purchase. The moon was close to full tonight and was able to zoom in to see some craters. Zoom lever works great able to zoom in and out no problem. These are my 1st. Porro Prism Binoculars and I w really like the optics they use. Very good for the money and if you are a beginner to binoculars these would be great to start with. We go camping and hiking alot. And binoculars come in very handy. I use my Nikon Action 22×50 and Bushnell 20×50. Alot as well. I suggest purchasing a hard case if you plane on taking trips with Binoculars. All N all a very good investment. My wife likes using these because there a little liter to hold. ... show more

  • Love the optics, but understand its limitations.
Style: 10x50 -Porro
I've been eyeing binoculars lately to replace my 20 year old Japanese 10x25s, and was considering 8x40s from Nikon and Olympus. I live in Australia however, and everything is double the price here. Anyhow, I needed to first define what I would use it for: and my first priority is for starspotting. After that, it will likely be used on holidays and vacations, or general planespotting from my backyard. As a result, I need a general pair of binoculars, without it necessarily being rugged, or having waterproofing, but with decent optics. This pair caught my eye solely on its pricepoint. The 10x magnification would let me enjoy close up views with manageable shakiness, and the 50mm aperture would let in many more stops of light. So upon receiving it and playing with it for 2 days these are my observations: - the optics are amazing for the price you pay: VERY bright image and amazing clarity! The focus ring is wide enough and gets a good fix for subjects at infinity (stars) and 3 km away. The objective lenses are well collimated and the depth of field that the two scopes provide is really enjoyable. The right eye diopter also holds its setting and makes the image very bright and clear - Speaking about stars, I am travelling in Bangkok now, and through the light polluted sky downtown, I can see many more stars in the sky next to the bright lights on top of buildings. Even saw a bird flying in the night sky high above the buildings, the aperture is *that* good in letting in the light. Having said that, the artificial light sources do tend to cause some flaring within the barrels/prisms. But it doesn't obscure the stars in the centre of focus anyway. - Looking up at the tall buildings and fancy hotels, I notice some significant pin cushion effect of the straight vertical lines. This doesn't bother me because the image clarity is amazing, and this is a pair of binoculars, not a camera! - I wear eyeglasses, and have astigmatism. The eyecups are a rigid sort of rubber so it stays inverted firmly when I turn them out. The lesser field of view caused by my glasses doesn't bother me. My focus is ultimately in the centre of frame when using the binoculars. - The construction is solid, but it won't win a beauty contest for finishing. The body and grip is all rubberized and feels good to grip and hold. But the finishing is a 7/10 - not fancy nikon or olympus level attention to detail in the lines along the bodies. Also when looking through the barrel from the objective lenses, you can tell that the Celestron is built more cheaply in how the light passes through. The mounting screw-hole and thread is also cheaply finished - this is probably my biggest concern, as I don't want to strip the thread when mounting it. Also, be careful where and how you use it as Celestron does not claim to make it (nor is it) condensation-proof and waterproof. - One lens cap keeps falling off from the objective lens. - Compared to my uncle's Bushnell 16x50, my Celestron is amazing. The magnification is just a little less on the Celestron, but image is so much clearer and brighter. Sure the Bushnell is more rugged and heavier, BUT - the Bushnell has an awful focusing mechanism with limited focus throw. Both the Bushnell's focuser and diopter tend to lose focus very easily. Also the hand-jitter on the Bushnell is not as manageable as on the Celestron. - Compared to my uncle's 10x40 monocular, the Celestron 50mm lets in more light and has better clarity. But the monocular is better built and more rugged. So all in all: For the pricepoint at $29, and for my needs - I love this pair of binoculars! The image quality and usability makes it excellent value for money. If you need better construction, Nitrogen sealed condensation resistance, and need undistorted perfect images, then raise your budget five fold (10 fold in Australia) and buy a nikon, olympus or pentax. ... show more

  • Worth the money
Style: 10-30x50 Zoom- Porro
I pretty love it, I reduced one star because that when I use the maximum zoom, I see double, so unfortunately this function can't be used.

  • Very good bang for your buck
Style: 10-30x50 Zoom- Porro
I really like this binoculars!! But at first I had my doubts. I decided to buy binoculars with 2 objectives in perspective, first we like shooting and needed a way to spot our hits at 100 and 200 yards with a 22lr (small hole). Second we live in Costa Rica and like going hiking in the mountains and bird watching. So, as you can see from one perspective we just needed some magnification and for the other picture quality. This binoculars have comply with both challenges, the picture is clear enough and the magnification is great. I would say that the built quality is more that I expected, they are well built and have good quality glass, for the price, i mean of course are not Swarovski or Leupold, but we are really happy with them. For the weight I like it, they weight just enough so you feel them, but not as much is uncomfortable when walking long distances in mountain terrain. Also I have to say they really are waterproof, we have taken a lot of rain with 0 issues at all. I would recommend this binoculars for anyone looking for decent picture quality and a good price for a first. ... show more

  • Dont waste your money
Style: 20x50 - Porro
Terrible.I bought the 20x50 based on reviews on the lower 7x50 and 10x50 model. I cant believe its an amazon choice and even cant believe it has such a high rating. If I lived in the USA I would have returned it 2 minutes after buying it. I would hope celestron offers to pay for the return. This is the first review I have ever done, and I am only doing it as I feel so upset. This binoculars is a total rip off. 1.It says multi coated lens, I dont even see single coated lens. the lenses are clear (in color) 2.It feels so cheap, the rubber isnt even very neat, I cant believe a big brand like Celestron can sell something that feels so cheap. 3. It suffers from every single flaw a binoculars can have * It has Collimation error (double vision) *Under 100ft everything seems fine, over 100ft you begin to notice how cloudy the lens is. I have other Chinese binoculars and they are much more clear. * The center of the lens seen clear(this is a joke) but towards the edges of the lens, it is very very blurred. *More than 100Ft the details are dull and flat, and colors are dull. The youtube video, (paid by them )makes this binoculars seem like the real deal and presents this binoculars as great value etc but this is all lies. Please dont waste your money ... show more
