Overall, the violin is a wonderful product, but it does have some minor flaws. I ordered mine in pearl white, and the paint coat could of used a bit more help; the scroll was a little messy and there were a few thin cracks in the painting along the fingerboard and neck of the violin and along some of the seams. This was kind of expected (being it is white, they are more noticeable) and it may be from the paint drying or dry conditions. The cracks are thin and not in obvious places so it was not much of an issue, but ordering a darker color may hide these flaws altogether. When the violin arrived, the bridge was not in place, rather on the side and not in any packaging, indicating it may of been set before being shipped. I'm not sure if it was supposed to be, but it was not difficult to put back on (I recommend if you don't know how, take it to a music shop and they will do it for free, along with tuning your instrument). The only issue was when I put the bridge on and started to tune, I noticed the tailpiece rattled. The fine-tuners were not entirely secured and was causing a rather annoying buzz while plucking or playing the instrument. If you look closely at the fine-tuners, there is a second knob that attaches the tuners to the tailpiece. All I had to do was tighten these (it's easier if you remove the tuning screw first and loosen your strings) and screw back in the tuning knob. This fixed the problem, but it took 30-45 minutes to fix the tuners and bridge and tune the violin. The violin is slightly heavier then an acoustic and even though it would seem to be off balance because it is missing the left upper bout, it surprising isn't that noticeable. The headphones that come with it work, but are of very poor quality, and it wouldn't hurt to invest in a nicer $10-$20 pair if you plan to use headphones (in-ear headphones work also and that is what I'm currently using). It uses a 9-volt battery for the battery pack, and comes with one which was very convenient. The rosin isn't what it shows, and actually seems to be pretty nice and comes with a box. The bow is of nice quality and works fine, but I personally will try to find a wooden or fiberglass bow that matches with the violin. I was surprised to see it came with a nice cleaning cloth and cover. The case is comes with a in-bedded box above the scroll for your rosin and other small objects, two bow slots, a Velcro strip to hold your instrument in the case, and a outside zipper for music, although it is too small to fit music in and close it fully without folding it. There isn't much room in the case for your shoulder rest (I suggest using an Everest shoulder rest, they are affordable, lasting and work with my acoustic and electric violins). It does come with a amplifier cable, and the quality seems nice but it ins't significantly long. The pegs, tailpiece and chin-rest are what looks to be ebony, but the fingerboard seems to be painted wood (the fingerboard matches fine and doesn't stand out but looking closely, it does look different from the tailpiece or chin-rest). The Mother of Pearl inlay on the tailpiece and end of the pegs adds a very nice touch to the instrument, but on one of the pegs part of the thin strip of metal surrounding it fell off. It isn't that noticeable and I'm not too worried about it, but it would be nice if the manufacture checked the instrument for minor flaws such as this and not-so-good paint jobs before shipping it off. The violin seemed a little cheaper in quality then my acoustic violin also made by Cecilio but overall I am very satisfied by the product. I was very excited about getting this violin and the shipping was fast (I selected free 5-8 day shipping and it came in 3 days, but different areas may have different shipping times. If you live in a larger community, I suggest choosing free shipping rather then paying $10-$25+ for faster shipping) The sound is great and it is significantly quieter then an acoustic. All in all, it is a great buy and nicely priced for the quality you get. Other then its minor flaws, I love the instrument and recommend it to anyone looking to get a good quality electric violin for a nice price.

I've bought Cecilio before. Before it was their acoustic violin. The most consistent issue between the two of them is peg slipping. Even if you push the pegs in as you tune it, they will still slip a little. You NEED special peg oil/wax to keep them from slipping on these violins. If you can stop the slipping, the sound quality isn't too bad. This doesn't sound as good as my acoustic violin, and I notice having some other issues with it. GREAT FOR BEGINNERS! Don't get me wrong, want to learn this is how you do it. One complaint I must say, I don't know if this was previously used or not but a few strands of hair were broken. It looks pretty used to be honest (just the bow). It still plays and produces sounds. I haven't used the headphones it came with I already have sennheisers which will be wayyyy better quality so why downgrade, I didn't use the rosin it came with, had bad experiences with that with the acoustic one. the case is really nice though for what you paid for everything. Overall I will give them a 4/5 stars except for sound quality but they aren't a 5,000 dollar violin either. Fair is fair though, but everything else is great especially for beginners.

Before I start, it is best to know that I am a novice to the violin, so fellow beginners may find my review useful, while those that have more experience under their belt may find it over-enthusiastic. With that being said, I shall break down what I find good, 'meh', and bad. The Good: - The case is amazing quality. It is light-weight but sturdy and could probably take a good bit of a beating when toted around. The zippers zip and unzip easily - though, the zipper on the small front pocket needs a bit of force when zipping it back up around the left corner.All the straps feel secure and the rubber grip on the side strap is very comfortable. The interior is a beautiful sky blue velvet material that really makes the red of the mahogany violin pop. - The violin itself is stunning. The photo did not do the color of it any justice. The photo makes it seem more like it is a deep burgundy when it is, in fact, a rich, red mahogany. The fading on the back of the neck definitely adds to its beauty. - EDIT: The strings do just fine. The sound they produce is clean and crisp. I will not be replacing them until they need to be replaced as they do their job right. - The rosin is Cecilio's own brand and they claim it is of high-quality. I was surprised that it was dark rosin as I had heard that light rosin is best for violas and violins while dark was for cellos and bass, but it did it's job perfectly. - DAT PRICE TAG. The MEH: - The bow is alright. I was disappointed to find, like others, that it was fully tightened, which is a big no-no. A few of the hairs were already snapped - I am unsure if that is the norm with new bows or if it was because it was fully tightened. I will most likely replace it in the future with a better quality bow. - The AUX cable seems fine, I don't have an amp to test it and I probably wont use it for a very long time, if ever, but it was nice to have one included in case one planned to use an amp. - The fingerboard does leave a black residue on the fingers when touched. A simple swipe of a thin cloth easily cleans it off. - The battery is nothing special, the usual free battery brand you get with almost anything, but hey, free battery. - EDIT: The pegs definitely need peg dope freshly applied when you get it. My G and E pegs would not stick when I tried to tune the strings. The Bad: - The headphones are the cheapest pieces of crap I have ever had the misfortune of touching. They went straight into the trash. I rather they weren't even included in the set. - There are some imperfections with the paint. There is a drip streak along the concave curve on the back and some build up on the ribs, nose, and scroll. I do not find them to be terribly bad, and I understand that every violin is hand crafted and painted, but others may find the imperfection as a disappointment to the quality. Overall, even with a few bads and some 'meh's, it still gets 5 stars from me, because I do love it. I would definitely recommend this to fellow beginners that wish to learn how to play an electric violin but don't want to blow a hole in their wallets. [I have recieved my tuner and have edited my review as promised. Still love it.]
