Kennedy Violins addressed all the usual concerns with buying an acoustic instrument, a violin in this case, online. They set it up before shipping it, so beginners like me don't have to worry about where to place bridge for optimal sound. This instrument looks like its worth way more then what we paid for it. And it comes with apparently really good strings. I don't know much about the quality of strings on a violin, just repeating what the violin teacher had to say about it. I almost returned it for the wrong reason, but Kennedy violins DO care about their customers. My bow seemed to come from a bad batch and was jumping around, which made me believe there is something wrong with the violin itself. They send me a new one free of charge, and then I discovered the real sound of this violin. I bought the Etude Violin as a Christmas present for my daughter (she was quickly out-growing her 1/2 size and needed a replacement). Her music instructor helped us pick this particular model and my daughter couldn't be happier with it. The pictures do not do the case justice - it is an upgraded case compared to the standard black nylon cases that come with most violins. As for the violin, the wood is beautiful (no plastic) and the sound is rich and clear; it even came tuned. Three months later, Kennedy Violins called (I spoke to Elizabeth) to confirm our satisfaction. What a pleasant surprise to know that the company was concerned about their customer's satisfaction! The violin is beautiful but they send it with the cheapest strings they sell the cheapest turner they sell and it wasn’t tuned right when I got it. Also they charge like 69 dollars more on amazon then the website and they make the customer eat the price difference. They won’t price match but the customer service is great just a little disappointed in the process and price difference ... show more

Great quality - never got far with the violin, but if it sounds great when I try a scale, it must be good, especially for a half size. The quality is a big step up from the cheapest violins, but the price is still reasonable. Son is excited to learn, and loves it. Highly recommend.

I purchased this violin for my daughter. She had moved up sizes from a standard student rental and at the price it was cheaper over time to buy this instrument for her instead of renting again. The difference in sound is amazing! If you know instruments you will hear the full-bodied sound from this instrument. I played the comparison between the two and my husband was amazed at the difference. This instrument is probably expensive if you aren't committed to playing, but if you're sticking with it, I highly recommend the investment. ... show more
