  • Work well enough for beginners and practice
Size: 20 pack - Strength 2.5
I picked these up for my beginning saxophone player, since she does go through these quite quickly (not always as careful as she could be). The price is great for that, and I loved that this came with so many at once. They, of course, aren't the highest quality, but for her and what she does, they work well. The tones come out nicely for her level, and more importantly, I don't feel like I'm spending tons of money each time she damages one. So, I'll be purchasing this one in the future again. ... show more

  • 13 of the 20 were great!
Size: 20 pack - Strength 2.5
I was given some Cecilio soprano saxophone reeds a while back and LOVED them! I thought I'd give these a try. Although you get 20 reeds, only 13 of mine were worth keeping. One of the reeds was cracked all the way down the middle, another had a splinter sticking off the end of it (not cut properly), and another one had a huge gouge out of the side of the reed. 4 of the 20 were very difficult to play (more like a #3 or #3.5 strength reed). But the other 13 were awesome! I love the nice sound that I can get with Cecilio reeds. Some of the reeds are so easy to play with that I want to keep playing all night long! So after reading all the reviews here. Bottom line - they are not high quality reeds, you're going to get some that look like crap, but the majority of them will play quite nicely. I usually play on Vandoren reeds, but Cecilio reeds have a nice sound too. ... show more

  • Great customer service
Size: 20 pack - Strength 2.0
My son started learning the sax this year for band class. Not knowing anything about the sax, I can't say whether these reeds are better or worse than any others, although I have been surprised by how many he has gone through in the course of six months. What I am really reviewing is the customer service I received from KK Music Store. I ordered 2-pack and only got one. When I contacted them, there was no fuss, they just sent a 2-pack and didn't ask for the one back. I'm not a big reviewer, but I appreciate the speed and ease with which they amended the situation enough that it only feels right to post this. ... show more

  • Low Quality Volume Practice reeds - size 2.0 - Great for beginners
Size: 20 pack - Strength 2.0
For less than $1 per reed these are perfect for a beginner or just to have a large stash of backups for practice. These are by no means quality, but they work just fine and $14 for 20 reeds they are what I call good enough for practice, can't beat that for volume. I got size 2.0 for my son who is just starting. I played sax for many years so I know a good read when I see one, and these are just good enough. If the quality was any less I might not recommend, but for what I got it was worth it since my kid tends to break reeds every day. T The lighter reeds are good for beginners. The 2.0 play well but the sound quality is for practice, not concert or recording. These are low quality, high volume practice reeds for sure. If you think you are going to play an orchestra with these you need more practice. If you are an expert you will not like these unless you want some reeds for messing around. Beginner or intermediate, they work fine for practice. The sound quality is just ok. Going from a 2.5 to a 2.0 you will typically lose some of the full bodied sound characteristics but these cheaper reeds you lose a noticeable amount. But I think for a beginner the sacrifice of being easier to play is worth the lack of sound quality. My son doesn't notice. I doubt his music teacher notices, its a bunch of 4th and 5th graders. ... show more
