  • PERFECT SIZE: 15" x 0.25" x 1.9" inch (38.1cm x 0.6cm x 4.8cm) froe-type blade; Handle is graduated in size meaning that it tapers (one end of the handle is larger than the eye of the froe) so the blade jam fits in place and prevents the froe blade from falling off of the handle
  • EASY TO USE: The froe goes through the log and the wood separates from the rest of the log; To use, simply pound the top of the blade with a wooden mallet or maul into the end of a short log, then pull back on the handle to split off a slice of the wood with the grain; Wooden mallet recommended, not included
  • GRIP COMFORTABLY: 18-inch (45.7cm) long handle that is constructed from solid hardwood for less user fatigue and more productivity
  • BUILT TO LAST: Constructed with a hardened steel blade and durable hardwood handle that can easily pry and split cedar and other types of wood
  • GET PRECISE SPLITS: The Redneck Convent Wood Splitting Froe allows you to be much more precise when splitting lumber, shakes, shingles, and turning blanks; Use for woodworking projects that require riveting such as chair spindles and spoons, split bow staves, or make tinder and kindling for a wood stove

Description

Make precise wood splits with the Redneck Convent Log Peeler Debarking Tool. It allows you to be much more accurate when splitting lumber, shakes, shingles, and turning blanks. You can use it for woodworking projects that require riveting such as chair spindles and spoons, split bow staves, or make tinder and kindling for a wood stove. The hardened steel blade can be hammered on top with a wooden mallet to drive the blade through your piece of wood. The handle is graduated in size meaning that it tapers (one end of the handle is larger than the eye of the froe) so the blade jam fits in place and prevents the froe blade from falling off of the handle. Wooden mallet recommended, not included.

  • Solid construction and works well.
Well made and works great. I purchased it for safety reasons, for splitting kindling with young grand children around. It has good weight and splits kindling and larger firewood easily.

  • Works well, even on heavier splits.
I’m only giving it 4 stars instead of five because the screw needed to hold the handle in place doesn’t come with it, you must supply your own and you will need it.

  • It's a decent tool.
I hot this froe to play around with and try making some wood shingles. It's a decent enough tool, you can watch a few YouTube videos if you don't know exactly how to use it. It's fairly easy to use/maintain & with just a little practice you can do all kinds of stuff with it, as long as that stuff is splitting wood! ... show more

  • Kindling Maker
Great for making kindling and splitting small logs.

  • Requires a good bit of work before it works right.
The handle is not a friction fit, there's a set screw to hold it in place. The blade came with a thick, heavy coat of paint that was a nightmare to get off, then had to sharpen it. It works, but you'll have to put some work into it, first.

  • Junk!!
This is a total piece of garbage. The screws that are used to hold the blade and handle in place lasted all of 8 minutes. Took the tool back to my workshop and added two heavy duty bolts and used the grinder to sharpen the blade. That worked but then after using it on a few logs the entire blade started to curve and bend. Super cheap! I’m a contractor and woodworker and this tool is best above a fireplace mantle as decoration. I wonder if who ever designed it every used it to make shingles. Save your money and buy a nice one. Total waste of time. ... show more

  • Just what I needed
It is a very sturdy piece of equipment, able to do what I needed to do and I use a mallet to hit the metal and it goes right through the log. I very much like it
