I picked up this 10-pack of alto sax reeds for my daughter’s sax practice, and honestly, they’ve been surprisingly good—especially for the price. The 1.5 strength is perfect for beginners or anyone who needs something a little easier to blow through without fighting the instrument. Right out of the box, they were consistent, no cracked tips, and the laser-engraved marking is a nice touch so you can quickly tell them apart. What stood out the most is the thinner reed tip—it really does make the reed more responsive. My daughter said she didn’t have to work as hard to get a clean sound, and the notes came out smooth even at lower volumes. These reeds are just ok, but the quality is inconsistent. I'd say about 1/2 of them are usable. I got them just to play around with a lighter strength reed, since I typically play with a 2.5. I don't notice a huge difference based on the strength, actually. The quality of the seal on the mouthpiece has more of an impact with these.
