The wire itself is fine, but the 500' of wire was really only 499'-10". I also niticed the length markings stamped on the wire started at 2 so don't assume it starts at 1.

***UPDATE*** The Klien Ratcheting Data Cable Crimper (Cat No. VDV226-110) was NOT crimping tight enough for quality data connections for longer lengths of cable. Crimping the end multiple times and flexing the cable back and forth while holding tight with the crimper fixed the problem (most of the time). Other times I had to use an old crimper which goes tighter. This cable appears fine for medium to long distances. The Original Post below is not valid. I've updated the start rating from 2 to 5. ***Original Post*** Worked great for data and poe at distances less than 40 feet (approximately). Using a Ubiquiti dream machine pro special edition and U6Lite access point, the wifi access point worked correctly with short 3ft cables. But when I tried more than 40ft (approximately) the poe worked, but not the data. I tried different rj45 connectors, quadruple checked my wiring, continuity tested my wiring, etc... I even made a test ~75ft patch cable with the dream machine and U6Lite right next to each other (e.g. no interference from other cables, no staples, no kinks, etc...) and I still only got poe but not data. Swapping in a shielded 100ft store bought cable works fine. Troubleshooting with and without Ubiquiti exhausted all possibilities. It is the cable. Note - I am successfully using the cable for short runs (<~30ft) in my home network with little to no problems (as reported by the dream machines tx/rx error and dropout metrics). ... show more

I bought this to run Gigabit Ethernet from our router to a few WiFi access points I set up in our house. The connections are solid gigabit links so the cable does seem to be working to spec. One thing to note is that this cable is fairly stiff due to the embedded plastic spacer used to separate the four wire pairs. ... show more
