I know a lot of tech geeks will tell you home owners don't need category 8 ethernet cables or that it will improve your speeds on your network. That is a lie! These newer routers are optimized to get the most out of your cable modem especially the newest ones. I immediately noticed clearer video quality, faster downloading especially faster speeds to other devices throughout the house. Using the mesh system I can travel around my entire house without loss. I've always used category 5 ethernet but decided to try the higher grade just to see if it would make a difference, it absolutely did! As I said the biggest difference was quality of video from movies immediately became clearer and sharper because it was getting a better data stream.

The moment I unboxed this Cat8 cable, I could tell it was something special. It has that satisfying heft and premium feel you expect from a true high-end cable. It is thick, rugged, and clearly built for the long haul. The gold-plated connectors catch the eye with their sleek, professional look, and they snap into ports with a confident, secure click that just feels right. What really won me over is how reliable it is. The shielding is excellent. I have had zero dropouts, no interference, and consistently lightning-fast speeds with rock-solid stability, even under heavy bandwidth loads. It is the kind of set it and forget it durability that brings real peace of mind. No more worrying about flaky connections during important video calls, streaming, or work sessions. Installation was surprisingly easy despite its robust build. It is more flexible than other thick Cat8 cables I have tried. However, it is stiffer than a basic Cat6, so routing through very tight spaces takes a bit more patience. That is a small trade-off for the quality you are getting. For most people, Cat6 would be perfectly fine. But if you want a premium, future-proof cable that feels like it could survive anything and keep delivering top performance year after year, this one is worth every penny. Highly recommended for anyone who values quality, durability, and a rock-steady connection they do not have to think about again.

The DbillionDa Cat8 Ethernet Cable is engineered for maximum performance, offering a high-speed, durable solution for networking needs that exceed standard home requirements. Rated for outdoor, direct burial, and heavy-duty indoor use, this cable is designed to provide ultra-fast, interference-free connectivity, perfect for professional setups, gamers, and future-proofing home networks. Performance and Speed (40Gbps/2000MHz) The primary advantage of a Category 8 cable lies in its raw capability, surpassing previous generations (Cat5e, Cat6, Cat7). Blazing Data Rates: The cable is rated to support data transmission speeds of up to 40 Gigabits per second (40Gbps). Massive Bandwidth: It operates at an astonishing frequency of 2000MHz (or 2GHz), which is four times higher than Cat6A, allowing for the highest data volume transfer over short distances (up to 30 meters). Ideal Use Cases: While often overkill for typical home internet connections (which rarely exceed 1 Gbps), this cable is essential for high-demand environments like data centers, high-speed servers, and specialized applications that require connecting 40G networking switches. For home users, it ensures maximum performance and minimal latency for local connections, such as linking a router to a high-end PC or console. Heavy-Duty Construction and Durability The construction of the DbillionDa Cat8 cable is specifically tailored for long-term reliability in harsh conditions. Shielding (S/FTP): The cable features quadruple shielding (Screened Foiled Twisted Pair, or S/FTP). This extensive layer of protection drastically reduces crosstalk, electromagnetic interference (EMI), and radio frequency interference (RFI), ensuring a stable, clean signal. Direct Burial & Outdoor Rating: The thick, upgraded PVC jacket is waterproof, anti-corrosion, and UV-resistant. This makes it suitable for direct burial underground or outdoor runs, protecting the cable from moisture, temperature extremes, and sunlight damage. Conductors: It utilizes 26AWG (American Wire Gauge) pure oxygen-free copper (OFC) wires, which are thicker than many alternatives (like 32AWG), resulting in better signal stability and lower resistance. Gold-Plated Connectors: Both RJ45 connectors are gold-plated, minimizing oxidation and corrosion to ensure superior conductivity and a reliable connection over the cable’s lifespan. Practical Considerations (3FT Length) The 3-foot length is specifically designed for short-run, high-speed connections. Pros Cons Maximum Performance: Delivers rated 40Gbps and 2000MHz capabilities over short distance. Overkill for Most: Few home users possess the networking hardware (NICs, switches, routers) capable of utilizing 40Gbps. Superior Shielding: S/FTP construction virtually eliminates signal interference from external devices. Stiff Design: The heavy-duty 26AWG wire and thick shielding make the cable quite stiff compared to thinner patch cables. Extreme Durability: Rated for direct burial and harsh outdoor weather (UV, water). Cost vs. Benefit: Cat6A or Cat7 cables often provide sufficient speed (10Gbps) for most home users at a lower cost. Future-Proofing: Provides infrastructure ready for future high-speed network upgrades. Final Verdict: The DbillionDa Cat8 cable is a premium networking tool. While most average users may not see a performance difference compared to a quality Cat6A cable, its robust, heavy-duty construction and high-speed certification make the 3FT version an excellent choice for short, critical links (e.g., switch to server, patch panel to modem) where durability and absolute minimal latency are paramount. It’s an investment in network longevity and reliability.

I picked up this 6ft DbillionDa Cat 8 cable because I wanted something reliable for my setup, and right out of the box, this thing just screams quality. Performance-wise, it absolutely delivers. It supports crazy high speeds (up to 40Gbps) and high bandwidth, so whether you're gaming, streaming, or just moving massive files around, it doesn't skip a beat. But the biggest standout for me is the durability. It is a nice, thick, heavy-duty cable with a solid braided exterior. It honestly looks and feels like it will work for a long time without fraying or wearing down, even if it gets bent around tight desk corners. The gold-plated connectors sit perfectly snug in the ports, too. For a completely balanced review, there are just two minor things to keep in mind. Because the outer shielding is so thick and rugged, the cable is a bit stiff. It takes a little extra effort to bend and route cleanly if you are trying to do ultra-tight cable management behind a desk. Also, Cat 8 is absolute overkill for standard home internet speeds, so you might be paying a slight premium for performance you won't fully utilize unless you're running a heavy local network or a high-end gaming setup. That said, if you want something that gives you total peace of mind and excellent build quality, the value is definitely there.

First, Amazon: why are you worried about wi-fi signal from an ethernet cable? Consider my mind blown. If your home network is run through the router that your Internet Service Provider (ISP) provided, you don't need Cat 8 with very few exceptions. Cat 5e cables are certified to handle gigabit Internet, which is the home and small business standard. These cables WILL NOT make your Internet speed faster. You do not need these cables to stream video to your 8k television. A single PLEX steam runs fine through a wireless let alone gigabit connection. The connector's quality and larger pipeline may help with lag and jitter, but most people will never notice the difference. If your router is on the older side, it may not even know how to negotiate Cat 8 cables and may connect you at 10 base T speed instead of gigabit making them slow, overpriced Cat 4 cables. Why do you need Cat 8? If your network equipment is in an area with lots of interference from radio or power sources the improved shielding may help. If you are running a line through the floor of your home to a computer or support router is another good reason. If you are running a buried line to another property or guest house, Cat 8 is beneficial If you utilize a NAS or home server with many connections, a Cat 8 backbone on a reliable 10, 25, or 40 Gps router is very useful. Cat 8 is also useful if you transfer large files across a network although SFP is a better idea if you regularly do this. In my case, I suffer from a fair amount of noise in my setup with a router wedged between a cellular gateway, UPS, cable modem, two NAS, and two laser printers. All of this noise makes it difficult to maintain transfer speeds in excess of 500 megabytes per second on Cat 6a, thus the extra shielding on Cat 8 is helpful allowing me to achieve 800 megabytes per second speeds on large single file transfers. Keep in mind, your NAS must have enough drives to reach or maintain these speeds since the read speed of an enterprise SATA III drive is about 180 megabytes per second x 6 drives is theoretically 1080 megabytes per second. Uploading a file from a computer with the proper network card and a fast NVMe drive can quickly fill a cache drive before the speed degrades to the maximum speed of your drives for the remainder of the file transfer. In simple explanation, it takes a lot more than a network cable to maintain fast network speeds. These cables are well made. The connectors fit tightly. It is a personal choice, but I struggle with the idea of burying any cable without conduit since it is easy to forget where the line is buried. It is always better to hit a conduit and stop before you damage the line it contains. The hard connectors, anti-snag protectors, and stiffer cable are helpful if you are attempting to snake these between walls or floors. The additional shielding is beneficial for long runs and installations with interference. The price is in line with premium Cat 6 while providing better shielding making buried or concealed installation with Cat 8 a potentially better idea if you plan to expand your home network. I will look at this vendor for any Cat 8 needs.

That’s the best thing you can say about an ethernet cable, honestly. Connection speed is solid, never had a dropout, never had to mess with it. Cable feels well-built — thicker than your average cat 5/6, with sturdy connectors that click in firmly. The flat design is nice for running under rugs or along baseboards. Whether you actually need Cat 8 for a home setup is a separate question — most home networks won’t max out a Cat 6 — but if you’re future-proofing or running a serious setup, it’s nice to have the headroom. Pros: • Fast and consistent connection • Sturdy connectors, no wobble • Flat cable design easy to route • Good range of lengths available • Durable braided jacket Cons: • Cat 8 is overkill for most home users • Slightly stiffer than thinner cables, so tight bends are harder Tips: • Run it along baseboards or under rugs — the flat design makes it disappear • Don’t bend it too tight at the connector, that’s where cables usually fail • If your router or device only supports up to Cat 6 speeds, you won’t see a difference — but the build quality is still worth it

Fantastic upgrade! I honestly had no idea I needed a cat 8 until I upgraded to it. I noticed a difference right away, especially while gaming. Everything feels more consistent and responsive, and my gaming experience honestly hasn’t been the same since. I originally thought an Ethernet cable was just an Ethernet cable, but this was definitely an upgrade over what I was using before. Great quality and definitely worth it if you’re serious about getting the most out of your internet connection while gaming.

I purchased this Cat7/Cat8 shielded Ethernet cable to run a reliable wired connection between network equipment, with use both indoors and partially outdoors. Intended use: Providing a stable wired network connection for home networking equipment, including a router, switch, and connected devices. Build quality and design: The cable feels heavy-duty and well-constructed. The outer jacket is thick and durable, and the shielding gives it a solid feel compared to standard Ethernet cables. The 25-foot length provided enough reach without excess slack. Installation experience: Despite the thicker jacket, the cable was still flexible enough to route along walls and around corners. The connectors fit securely into ports, and the strain relief appears sturdy, which is useful for longer-term installations. Performance: Connection has been stable with consistent speeds and no dropouts. Latency has been low, and the cable performs as expected for a shielded Cat7/Cat8-rated connection in a home network environment. Indoor and outdoor use: The cable handled outdoor exposure without issue during installation, and the jacket appears suitable for both indoor and outdoor routing where additional durability is needed. Limitations: Due to its thicker, shielded design, it is less flexible than basic Ethernet cables and may be more than necessary for simple or short indoor runs. Overall experience: After installation, the cable has provided a reliable and stable wired connection without issues. Conclusion: This is a solid choice for users who want a durable, shielded Ethernet cable suitable for indoor or light outdoor use and longer, more demanding cable runs.
