  • Extremely well designed and executed cat watering dish - follow up
Pattern Name: Fountain + 3 Filters & Sponges
Follow up: After about 3 months the pump quit working but the light came on so since it had not needed charging yet I went ahead and charged it. Everything worked again for about a week but then the pump stopped again. I contacted the company and they asked me to take a video while I tried their possible fixes. They didn't work so the company sent a new pump without charge. It's worked fine since then. Short pump life is hopefully not the norm so I hold the 5 star rating because they did the right thing very quickly. As a retired engineer I have been very impressed with the design and operation of this watering dish. It's not pretty or cute but it is highly functional and easy to maintain. The pump mounts outside, a good idea. There is a filter on the inlet line to protect the pump, also a good idea. The pump discharges into a drinking pool on top of the actual sump. It is wide enough that the water velocity is slow and very few particles of cat food crumbs are carried across the overflow into the sump, further protecting the pump. Finally, there's a filter under the drinking pool outlet which catches nearly everything that does pass out of the drinking pool into the sump. It all comes apart easily for cleaning and fits back together securely. The pump has both a time setting mode and a motion detection mode. We use the motion detector and positioned the fountain so the pump only comes on when the cat comes to drink. The drinking pool holds enough that there is always water there so the cat can drink long enough for the pump to come on, so he never runs out of water. The pump is very quiet. An unintended feature is that when the water in the sump is low the pump's noise level goes up so even if you forget to look at the level (visible through the side walls) the slight bubbling sound will get your attention. The battery is more than adequate in the motion detector mode. We charged it up when it arrived and with one cat drinking from it we are still running on that original charge over two months later. So my hat's off to the designer from a functional perspective. Again, not pretty or cute but the cat doesn't seem to mind. ... show more

  • Great cat water fountain. Maintain it and pump will be problem free.
Pattern Name: Fountain + 3 Filters & Sponges
We’ve had this since June 2023. Our cat has this for downstairs. He also has another drinking fountain upstairs. So far, he likes this one better than the other one. I encountered the same issue as others have here that after a few months the pump quit working. The pump didn’t quit working. The tubing was clogged. If maintained right, the fountain will keep working. I flush the tubing with a syringe several times every time I refill the water. Keeps the tubings clog free. Remember, our cats shed and their hair is fine. It tends to make its way all the way to the tubing and pump. Also make sure that you are not sticking the pump all the way down. For some reason it gets that small tubing against the back wall too much and the water cannot come out. I usually flush with a 10-20 ml syringe and do it about 4-5 times. I also sometimes just use the syringe without water just to get any debris in the tubing cleared out. ... show more

  • Simple and easy to use/clean but faulty pumps
Pattern Name: Fountain + 6 Filters & Sponges
I got this a few months ago for my two kittens and they loved it. It's very easy to set up, clean, and recharge. Unfortunately it didn't stay that way for long. I started having a problem a few weeks ago where it turns on as expected but doesn't pump the water despite having plenty in the base. I have to take out the pump and put it back on to start it again but it happens usually several times a day. If I didn't work from home to notice all the time they'd be constantly running out of water! Sad to say flawed design overall in terms of function. That said, I was able to contact the seller on their website and they sent me a new pump. ... show more

  • Adding an edit. Don't rely on this as the only water source, pumps are faulty
Pattern Name: Fountain + 6 Filters & Sponges
The media could not be loaded. A year later I have to add another edit. I mentioned that one of the pumps stopped working and they graciously replaced it. I bought several of these cause my cats love them. But now all the pumps are faulty and sometimes just don't work. There is water in the base but they are not pumping it. I clean them regularly and replace the filters as well. I have to bang on the pump to make it work sometimes. If I didn't also have bowls of water around, my cats might be pretty thirsty sometimes. They have to be charged often as well. I'm editing because I'm thinking about people who might go away and leave these as the only water source, and after a while, the pump could stop working and the cats won't have any water. Perhaps the newer models are better. I still have them but I have to check them all the time to make sure they have pumped water out. I give them a bang on the floor and then they will pump. Sometimes they work fine for days. Sometimes I have to do this often. Just make sure you have a backup water source for your cats. This problem has been happening for a while. But I just remembered that I wrote a review and I thought it should be updated. I only bought them a year ago. Additional edit: A week after I put the last edit. So I figured I would reach out to the company since Amazon said I couldn't do anything about the faulty pump. And they got back to me fairly quickly. I sent them a short video of how the pump is not working and my order number. They're mailing me a new pump. The other 2 fountains are fine. It sure beats dealing with big water bowls and messy paws and spilled water. The cats really do love these fountains. I'm thankful for their customer service and kindness. Because we really do love these things and when one started not working, I was so disappointed. They were quick to make it right for us. I think the one that was faulty, with the new pump, since it's an extreme high traffic area between myself and the cats, I will try to use it on timer instead of motion sensor. And see how that goes. First edit.... I'm adding an edit to this one. Because I bought an additional 2 fountains. And now one of the pumps is already not working. And Amazon won't let me return or exchange it. I've only had it for a couple months. We have them set on motion sensor and I clean them every day and fill them up every day and put fresh water in every day. One pump so far is not good. It's been making funny noises for a week or so. I just washed everything and put new filters in and put it back together. I'm very careful with them. I thought these were fantastic. But now I don't know. We had bought an additional 2 because they liked them so much. And with only one, they're preferring it over the water dishes and I was filling the fountain too often. So now we have 3. Original review: We set it up and charged for about 12 hours. Filled it. Let it sit for 15 minutes to let the filters absorb water. And soaked the filters directly in the water. Then I put it down. At first, they were not too sure about it. We have one cat that is always putting her dirty paws in the big water bowls we have. And she's got long fur and she's sick so she's not the best at grooming herself. So I was washing them a couple times a day and changing them out for a new bowl every other day. Now I still have the other bowls but they all seem to love this one. I have to fill it almost daily. And I rinse it with hot water and the filter too. I've already had to charge it again. So a charge lasts maybe 2 weeks. But I have it on motion sensor and either one of the cats or myself are walking by it often. So that might be why. Now that I've had to take it apart so often to clean, I think I understand how it works so when I have to change the filters, I should be able to figure it out. It's not that difficult, I'm just a little slow. The manual has a qr code which brings up a video from here on how to set it up. Even with fresh water in the other bowls, they're going for this thing. I would get another one, but the price has gone back up. I got it on a deal. We have cats with medical conditions and I think it helps them drink more water. And I don't have to worry as much about the one that likes to wash her paws in the other bowls because this one has fresh water all day. And she doesn't try to do that with this one. At least not as much. And if she does, the stuff gets caught in the filters. I think it took them a little time to figure out how to drink at that level, as the other bowls are on the floor. If the price drops again, I will definitely get another one but with vet bills right now, we can't. I hemmed and hawed about getting a fountain for a while. I got this one because I can charge it and then not have a cord lying about where we trip on it. Or someone gets zapped because they fling water around. I just wish it was bigger. Because now that they've figured it out, they all drink from it all The time. The charge lasted about 2 weeks. It started blinking red so I charged it. I think it takes less time to charge it after the initial 12 hours of charging. It definitely catches the gunk and fur. But I still wash it every time I have to fill it. Sometimes it will be last 2 days. But again, that's with 6 cats. And now that they have this and aren't really using the bowls as much, it runs out quickly. One of the cats sometimes likes to spill the large bowls we have in the kitchen. She doesn't try to do that with this one. I hope this review helps someone. I just hope it lasts. Because it is constantly running. Well, every time we walk by it. So I really don't wanna be buying a new battery anytime soon. Hopefully the filters will last a while too. I've only had it for about 2 and a half weeks. But I'm definitely pleased with it so far. As for the noise, it's definitely not loud. But I have it in my bedroom, so I definitely notice it. Less now than at first. But it really is relatively quiet. If you're like I was, and have been trying to decide if you really want a fountain and then you have been contemplating this one, just get it. I would imagine with less cats you wouldn't have to clean and change everything as often as I do. And the charge would probably last longer too. I don't write a ton of reviews. I used to write them when I got stuff on wish because they would give you points for it even if it was a bad review or not detailed or anything. So the fact that I'm bothering to write something and write this much says a lot. Because you don't get any bonus for writing an Amazon review. I just wish it was my birthday so I could get someone to get me another one because I really do like it. My kitties are happy to have fresh water all the time without fluffy Jeff putting her grubby paws in it constantly. 🐱 ... show more
