    • Compact espresso machine
To preface, this is my first espresso machine and even the first espresso experience. The first thing that surprised me about this espresso machine was just how well it was packaged. It was triple boxed, with the innermost box having a lot of padding, cardboard, protective tape, and everything else that would be needed to survive even the worst of delivery trips. Next came the accessories: You get a very substantial dual spout portafilter (58mm, triple ear), a plastic tamper for it, two single walled filters (for 1 and 2 doses), two double walled filters (for one and 2 doses), a coffee scoop, a cleaning needle, and a small stainless steel pitcher for milk frothing. The machine itself is very compact. Despite that the water tank is sizeable, and is very easy refill, either from the top or via removing it and refilling it that way. It cleanly integrates with the espresso machine itself. The drip tray is easy to remove and comes with a float indicator to signal when to empty it. Group head is metal. It’s hard to say what the case is, if it’s plastic or metal, but it looks and feels good with a neutral silvery gray color scheme. Turning the machine on it takes about a minute to warm up after which it’s ready for use. Controls are all digital, including steam. The steam wand can also be used to dispense hot water, though keep in mind that it’s on the slower side. This is also a PID controlled machine which, based on everything I’ve researched, is amazing at this price point. There’s programmability available for both the volume and shot temperature. In operation things work as expected with no hassle. I’ve been experimenting with my dosage and grind settings, so there’s not much to report on yet in terms of getting the settings just right, but I’ll be sure to update this review as soon as I get photogenic results. The manual is clear and concise. The machine itself is ETL certified, which I’ve verified by cross checking the ETL database. OEM as per the ETL database is a very well known manufacturer of many different models of coffee and espresso machines, including other highly rated models, so that's another mark of high quality that is similarly expected from this machine. The only downside of note that I’ve been able to find is that the portafilter basket retains out of the box some sort of a chemical-ish odor. It is lessening after repeated washing and rinsing with hot water, and again since I’m a newcomer to espresso, I don’t know how normal this is so I’m not deducting any points for that. Also of note is that while there is a bottomless portafilter available from the manufacturer that fits this machine, the exact kind (58mm with 3 ears) seems to be somewhat less common than other types. I ordered this machine to try making espresso at home. I occasionally buy espresso when I'm out but wanted the convenience of brewing my own. Admittedly, I'm new to brewing espresso and still learning, but this machine seems very easy to use. I have brewed both one and two cups and have also created hot water effortlessly. Out of the box, there is no assembly necessary. You only need to remove the tape and packing materials and take out a plug from the water reservoir. The instruction manual is informative and clear. In addition, I would suggest watching the Casabrews videos on this page for more detail and to see someone actually using the machine. I gave the machine 4 stars rather than 5 because the cleaning pin mentioned in the manual was not included. This isn't a dealbreaker or worth shipping the item back for. I have enjoyed learning to brew espresso with this machine and would highly recommend it. ... show more

This espresso machine is very user friendly. It came with a clear instruction manual to follow. The LCD screen makes it look more expensive than the price tag. It doesn't take long to heat up when you turn it on. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles and adjustments of a pricier espresso machine but it's a great beginner level espresso machine. It is built solid and easy to make a shot. It came with a lot of accessories. It is also very easy to clean. The steam wand can come out to the side or to the front of the machine. We're a novice to espresso making and this machine is easy to use. I like that this espresso machine doesn't come with a coffee grinder attached to the top of the machine. It helps with putting it under the counter top. If there was a coffee grinder attached to the machine it definitely can't fit under the cabinets on our countertop. So, it's a big plus for us. The water container for the espresso machine slides in and out of the machine very easily. Everything about this machine is so easy. The hard part is figuring out how to dial in a good cup of espresso for beginners. ... show more

This espresso maker is truly remarkable. It looks so professional. It has a screen that lights up and several buttons that you can use to select what you want, I like that it has 2 spouts so you can make a double espresso or a single one. If you have a big enough cup you can put it in the center. It comes with 2 types of filters that you can use and a milk steamer. It makes a great cup of espresso and it remembers what you programmed it to previously. So you can keep the previous settings if you choose to. ... show more

This machine is so easy to use and maintain. The steam wand is a highlight and it makes a great cappuccino. The exterior is plastic which is where some cost was saved, but the entire package oozes quality. I’m impressed that it comes with multiple different baskets, I just wish it also included a bottomless portafilter out of the box. I highly recommend this product! ... show more

I used to be a barista, but I am a bit rusty, so I haven't been able to fine-tune this machine to my liking yet, but it definitely has the capabilities to do so. The only downside is that the portafilter is 58 mm, and there are far more accessories for the smaller sizes. Not a deal breaker, though.

If you are looking for a starter machine to pull shots at home, this CASABREWS Espresso machine is a good choice. It comes with a 58mm portafilter, which is compatible with most grinders. Everything is press of a button, no techniques needed in most cases. And the shots are just fine. The milk frother works well, but on the slow side.
