I did a lot of searching and review reading before purchasing this particular unit. I like the fact that it had PFA Free parts and it was slightly cheaper than the other model with the same model number, but this one has the word Eco after it. It’s super easy to use and comes with a quick start guide that is very helpful. It holds enough water for me to make almost a week worth of espresso every day. I love the fact that it has the pressure gauge so that you can be sure that you’re achieving the right pressure for the type of shot that you’re going . It took a little trial and error to get the correct brew strength but after reading about the amount of espresso to be used for a double shot, I was able to achieve it only with the double shot porter filter. I actually bought a compatible bottomless porter filter with a screen on the top so it makes the unit really easy to clean and doesn’t leave a lot of residual grinds. This unit has a really high-quality appearance with a stainless steel outer finish however it does seem to be made out of a heavy duty plastic rather than actual stainless steel in the areas that are shiny. It has the noise level you would expect from an espresso machine. It’s not super quiet, but it’s not super loud. It doesn’t come with a lot of accessories so you will need to buy a knock box, a steaming pitcher, a better tamper and an additional porta filter if you’re like me and want the bottomless one with the screen. This unit was really affordable compared to other espresso machines of similar functionality, such as a Breville bambino that cost a lot more so buying the extra accessories was not an issue. I actually look forward to making my morning coffee with this Casabrews espresso machine. After using pod machines for many many years, I wanted to get back to being less wasteful. I’m the only coffee drinker in my household, so I’ve customized the espresso settings to my liking — brew coffee and then steam milk. Very happy with results. For the price, it’s pretty nice. Its compact size is handy too. I did run into some trouble initially though. The water, even after multiple flushings smelled like plastic. I did a bbuuunch of stuff and flushed at least 3 full tanks of water and it still smelled off. I almost gave up but I saw the descaling option which I used with some vinegar water because I didn’t have the descaling solution nor citric acid. That seemed to help a good amount actually. The water still has a very slight undertone of that smell but I pretend it’s not there lol. Otherwise, it’s been really nice and fun to use. I brewed a bunch of coffee and am still learning the right grind size and whatnot, which means I failed a lot. But I still am enjoying it. I hope it lasts a long time. I haven’t tried the steam wand yet, though I did use it for flushing the machine in the beginning. It worked pretty nice too. Though you can’t froth milk and make coffee one after the other; you gotta let it cool first. Overall, for a coffee newb or for anyone who’s just getting started with this hobby, this is a great choice. Especially if you buy some other tools to accompany it like a Wdt tool, a self leveling tamper, a bottomless portafilter, a puck screen, a kitchen scale with a timer built in and a portafilter funnel, the process and results become even better and more fun. Though to acquire those items, it would take some time since buying it all at once is pretty expensive. Which defeats the purpose of buying a budget machine. If you have the money, you can always get a breville machine that comes built in with most of the tools I mentioned. But to start off or to just have a machine that just makes coffee? I’d recommend this. Also, I seriously appreciate the fact that the Cm5418ECO version comes with internal tubing that doesn’t touch the actual hot water (as google mentioned at least) which I have not seen in any of the budget nor mega expensive machines! Like no other machine whether expensive or not, cares to separate the hot water from touching any plastic surfaces that can leech lots of microplastics into your coffee directly. This is the only company that seemed to actually care enough to make a whole new version that uses completely different parts and replaces the plastic from the inside and on the portafilter. This is basically the main reason why I chose this machine. So where did the plasticy smell come from initially? I couldn’t tell ya. Yesterday, I tried the machine with a bottomless portafilter along with the other tools, and the espresso that came from it immediately tasted smoother. I was shocked. I can see why people become coffee nerds now. You get a certain high from making coffee a little better than it was before with certain tools or even better quality beans. So you keep going in and learning more to make your coffee taste better and better. In conclusion, the machine is very beginner friendly. Happy brewing! P.S. the picture with the coffees have the new bottomless portafilter in frame 👍🏼 also, yes, I did edit the picture of the machine because I was too lazy to get better lighting. In my defense, I wasn’t even gonna show this picture to anyone but myself. P.S. #2: The foam you see in the coffee is not from the steam wand. Because I still haven’t tried it out yet. For the price of this unit it punches way above in every measure! Heats up quick steam wand is excellent, it can brew multiple expressos with no issues! Highly recommend this unit!

    • It works, its okay
I have had it a few weeks and my feedback so far is that its okay. It overheats easily. I make myself a latte/cappuccino in the morning and then have to turn it off to cool before I can make my husbands. I wake before him so thats "okay" for us, but it would ne nice if I could make him one to wake up to. You have to be very careful on how full you make fill the little baskets because even just little too much grind and you won't be able to get the handle in and on. Also, as others have stated, you MUST keep the rim of the handle and cup free of grind/coffee grinds or it will either not go on right or malfunction. This is in no way a heavy duty or I would say "sturdy" machine. I like the small footprint, it serves its purpose. It HAS already paid for itself by eliminating my morning latte runs. **Follow Up-As of now my water tank also leaks. I have checked it, made sure I am installing correctly etc. It leaks for no reason. So now I no longer take it off to refill, and still sometimes it leaks. Changing my review to 2 stars. Its not great. Still serving its purpose, we will see if it still does in a few weeks. ... show more

    • Get this machine
I'm in love. This machine has already paid for itself in a week and a half, if I count up what the equivalent number of $7 lattes would have cost me. I get to look forward to delicious daily espresso drinks without the outrageous cost hit. The machine is really easy to use. Yeah maybe it's not the ultimate coffee snob moment, but I'm used to drinking high quality lattes in San Francisco, and this is a strong contender if you get the right beans and the right milk. ... show more

Works well so far but it is very lightweight and you have to hold it in place with one hand and put in the portafilter with the other hand otherwise it tips over. I love that the portafilter is all metal and no plastic though.
