These knives are sharp! Be very careful, I cut myself quite easily. The knives are well-made, durable, attractive, and seem to maintain their sharpness over time (I have been using them for general food prep for almost 3 months). They also don't show any rust spots, making me confident that the material is actually stainless steel. The price is reasonable, and they don't take up too much space on the countertop. We ordered this knife set to replace our older set that had started to show its age. This set amazed us by how sharp every blade was right out of the box. The quality control was great as well as we didn’t notice any blemishes or grinding. My only complaint would be the knife block has a slight wobble, and that’s on any flat surface.

This is a very nice knife set that also comes with the wooden block. It is dishwasher safe which is a big plus. I really like that these knives are all 1 piece.

I get tired of knife handles that eventually loosen, become dangerous, and food sticking where the blade and handle meet. I don’t have to worry about any of that with these! The transition from handle to blade is smooth and they’re well balanced. My cutting test subjects when I get a new knife are always tomatoes, onions, and soft bread. The chef knife easily sliced through the tomato skin without making mush of the inside. When I dice onion, I usually have pieces that aren’t completely cut through, but this knife did great. I used the serrated blade to cut soft rolls, and none had flat edges or smashed insides. This is a great set of knives, and the $40 sale price is unbelievable. The 5 basic knives are my go-to on a daily basis, so I don’t really need anything more. The steak knives will certainly get their share of use, but the block won’t only because I’m not a huge fan of knife blocks. If you need to get a gift for newlyweds, a college student, anyone moving into their first home, or just want a new set of knives for yourself, I recommend picking up these.

This is a solid starter knife set, especially considering the low price. The knives are well made from high quality steel, and hold an edge well. I do wish the non-serrated blades were a bit sharper from the factory, but considering the price, that is a minor complaint. The serrated knives are very well sharpened and cut through hard bread crust and tough meat like it's nothing. The knife block is nice as well, just note that it holds the knives at a more vertical angle than some other blocks out there, so make sure that is what you are looking for. Packaging is pretty minimal, which I personally consider a plus since it reduces waste, but it may be slightly underwhelming if presented as a gift since there is very little indication of what is inside the box. Overall I think this is a great deal on a starter kitchen knife set, and it looks very nice on the counter as well!

I finally ditched my old, mismatched knives and got this amazing 12-piece set. The wood block looks so sleek on my counter, and it holds all the knives securely. The stainless steel blades are super sharp; I can slice tomatoes like a pro now. They glide through everything with ease, from meat to bread. Plus, they're dishwasher safe, which is a huge bonus for me. Cleanup is a breeze! This knife set is a meal-changer in the kitchen. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for top-notch knives. This is a solid basic knife set by Carote, a great price for a full starter set. The set is 12-piece and includes both chef’s knives (bread, Santoku, utility, paring, & chef) and steak knives. They’re a polished stainless steel (that should be rust resistant) and full tang because each knife is a unibody where the entire knife from handle to blade is forged from a single piece of stainless steel. They’re also quite lightweight, so the handles appear to be hollow and not solid stainless steel. I got these to replace an older set in our rec room’s kitchen so they’ll only be periodically used and should do fine for us in that capacity. As with all of our cutlery, we immediately wash/rinse them after use – never using the dishwasher – to preserve their appearance, luster, and overall longevity. They also came with a wood block for storage, and it’s a lighter wood but we have our own storage for them and won’t be using the block; I don’t ever really care for knife blocks being out on the countertops, not our personal aesthetic. I’m pleased with this set though, again, a good value for all that you receive in the set compared to the price point.

Nice set with a good aesthetic at an affordable price. I’m not blown away by the sharpness of the knives, but for the price I wasn’t expecting them to be chef quality. Glad I bought them though. Solid everyday choice.
