The Carlson Mini Tuffy is an amazingly versatile expandable pet gate with patented small pet door. This all-metal expandable is the first of it’s kind. Expanding 22-38 inch wide and stands a convenient 18-inch tall. The metal frame is strong, sturdy, and durable making this gate extra secure and superior to plastic. Super easy to install, takes literally seconds. Pressure mounts and locks with the patented Easy Fit Locking System. Soft rubber bumpers are gentle on walls and keeps them scuff free. The lightweight compact design is great for travel and storage. Slate size is 1.75-inch wide. With one hand on each side of the gate frame, pull away from the center until the gate spans the entire length of your doorway or opening. Be sure to pull from the outside frame of the gate, not the inner round bars.Sturdy Construction, Quick Installation : Mixing functionality with convenience, the Carlson Lil Tuffy Expandable Pet Gate features a 100% steel frame, with a quick and easy pressure mount system to make installation a breeze. To leave your wall scuff free, the gate features rubber bumpers for gentle protection. We understand that setting up a pet gate needs to be simple, if it takes more than few minutes to set up, it’s not even worth it. To keep things moving, the Lil Tuffy expandable gate features a lock and screw system to create the perfect pressure on the gate. To set the gate, grab both sides and expand to the desire width, lift the locking pin, moving it into place and securing it the open hole. Since we like the product so much, we have now ordered a third one so we can use them throughout our home. It is sturdy, very easy to install, and keeps our Chi safe when we can't be eyeballing him. The added bonus is the small hinged puppy/kitty door, which you can open optionally when your want to give your fur baby aded access without having to take the gate down. The pet door can be easily secured with a thumb lock. Also, the gate is low enough that you can easily step over it without tripping. Excellent quality pet gate! It is ready to use right out of the box or you can drill screws into door frame to further secure. Easy operation to set and secure and I had no issue at all with the little "door" it stays open just fine - on one side - on the other side the securing rod is present so door doesn't go all the way open (maybe that's what other folks were talking about in their reviews). Now it is so easy to step over , even my 7 year old granddaughter can easily navigate getting over the gate. Cat is happier with a lower jump to get over and the gate's spindles are close enough that our Pomeranian cannot get her head through them! Perfect lower gate for our 2 small Yorkies! Replaced our existing baby-gates and so glad we did. These are much easier for us humans to walk over the gate without tripping. The little access door is great too, allowing the gate to remain in place and give the dogs access to areas when supervised. Easy installation and stays in place perfectly! Looks great, white metal, great value for the money. I love the height for my little dog that wants to scamper up the steps to make mischief, it’s super easy to step over - not like a baby gate, her little 3” legs can’t make the jump! make sure to measure your opening, our stairs were 0.5“ wider, but we just wedged a piece of wood in and it is super effective! ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Sturdy and easy to install. The little door would be best for a cat or very small dog like maybe a dachshund or chihuahua. My 15 lb Jack Russell mix can get through it, but he has to scrunch down a little and it rubs on his back.. But my 60 lb black lab is able to get through it with no problem... 🤣 (See video) 🤣🤣 Thankfully she is not the dog I'm trying to keep out of the room. Only design flaw is that the little door swings free and could easily trap a dog in or out so I zip tied it open. I wish they had some kind of latch to keep it open.. Other than that it looks like it's going to work just fine. ... show more

We got a 6 week old puppy and would wonder into our bedroom (the only carpeted area in our apartment) and she would have accidents in there while we have been potty training her. We have a doorway that connects the kitchen to our bathroom and our bedroom also connect the the bathroom and these were perfect!. Originally had only ordered one, then my wife was convinced they were good and we needed another one. We have both installed in under 1 minute. The cats knew exactly where they needed to go through (I zip tied the little door open on top for the cats to use) puppy doesn't bother the gate or has come close to knocking it down or even a wobble. They are nice and snug in my 34" door way. As we need constant access to bathroom and bedroom, just a simple leg over the gate, yet tall enough to keep puppy out and cats can get in and out as the please. Works as intended! ... show more

EXACTLY what we needed - a lower, Step-Over pet gate that actually works! PROS: 18" tall: perfect step-over height but still tall enough to stop our smaller dogs from jumping over (larger/younger/untrained dogs might jump this gate). Extremely easy to install: this took me literally just a couple minutes to securely install all by myself, no sweat (I did not install the wall-mounted bumper brackets / I found them unnecessary). gate WIDTH adjusts in half-inch increments, then simple tension screw insures a strong, tight fit (staircase where I installed gate is exactly 38", wall to wall; gate is extended to it's maximum width and still secure, sturdy and stable). Made with sturdy materials (metal, rubber, heavy-duty plastic). Bumpers clear taller baseboards (as seen in photos), allowing all four to maintain full contact with walls. Narrow bar spacing prevents stuck heads. Itty-bitty built-in door was unnecessary for us since our cat can hop over gate. CON: Wish it came in more colors, such as black, silver, or bronze. ... show more
