  • BUY ONE SIZE UP!
6ft tall 180 lbs (usually a size 12 tall in a bootcut pair of jeans) athletic build female and these are the first construction pants that have fit my build the way I would like for work. I first ordered a size 12tall and they strangely gave me a muffin top, were too short, and a bit too snug when squatting. However, the quality seemed nice so I decided to exchange for a size 14 tall and IM SO GLAD I DID! The 14 fits snug just above my waist (I probably don’t need a belt but will still wear one), thighs and butt have the slightly loose but not baggy fit, and the length is a tad shorter than I would like for my work boots but overall acceptable. I am constantly climbing, squatting, and using power equipment all day at work and these seem like they’re going to be very comfortable to move in. The material feels thick, but not stiff and the grey color is really nice. This is not related to these Carhart pants but might be helpful for anyone else on the hunt for a nice pair of women’s construction pants: I tried Dovetail ($160 per pair) and Dickies (comparable $50 price range) pants and both fit so strangely on my body. Somehow they were waaayyy too snug on my thighs, loose in the butt, and not nearly long enough for me. The material was also really stiff on the Dovetail pants specifically. Updating this post after about 7 months of owning these pants. After wearing these pants for a couple months several times a week, the inner thigh area began to have some tilling from my thighs rubbing the material together. I ended up purchasing a tan pair of these same pants and the tan pair has significantly more tilling than the gray, but both pairs I’m worried will eventually get too thin and wear through in the crotch area. I’ve machine dried these pants as well as air dried and here is my two cents: they WILL shrink when machine dried but will eventually loosen back up after wearing. If you air dry them, they are oddly stiff for the first hour or so when wearing. Overall, worth the price even if they need replaced every year! ... show more

  • Good
I realize that I'm petite (5'2", 110 lb.), but I'm not so undersized that the smallest of these pants (Size 2 Short) should swallow me whole. I love the fabric and the overall design of these pants, and I'm desperate for a new pair of sturdy pants for gardening and DIY projects, so I'm keeping these. After submitting the pants to a very long session on high heat in my dryer, they are slightly smaller, enough so that I no longer look like a clown. I still have to cinch them significantly with a belt, and after gardening in them, the bottom cuffs end up filthy and soaking wet from dragging behind my heels, so the "Short" option didn't do me much good. I'll likely have to pay someone to hem them anyway. Yet despite my issues with the sizing, notice that I still give these 4 stars. The weight of the fabric is great and not too thick or hot, even in Georgia in July, yet they feel durable enough for my purposes. I hope they'll prove me right. I love the pockets, and the fact that they're big and deep. They're not too tight for your hand to reach in (unlike some other Carhartt pants), yet you don't feel like anything will fall out. The color is a short of slightly washed-out dark grey that borders on blue, which I find very appealing (much moreso than Black, or Moss). If you're not so worried about the pants running large, you're likely to be very pleased with these pants. I'm disappointed that I can only like them, but will never love them. ... show more

  • Rugged pants
Color: Yukon Size: 4 Short
What a great buy! I live in the woods and have thorny bushes everywhere. These help me get thru the terrain without constantly getting poked. They run a little small. I'm a petite size 2/4 and I ordered a 6. They fit really nice. The material is thick and warm and the color is a neutral tan. It is not stretchy, but I don't wear them tight. ... show more

  • Good work pants
I love that I can fit my radio in one of the side pockets. I could even fit my phone in the pocket behind my radio, but Im afraid I'll crush it. I like ve that all the pockets are functional, none of those "looks like a pocket" but isn't. The fabric is tough and moves with me through the various pulling, pushing, squatting, lifting maneuvers that are my work life. I feel like they run big. I exchanged the first pair for a size smaller and am hoping the second pair shrink it the drier at least a half size more. I'm 5'3" and around 115#. For me the size six short works, but they sag a little. They will probably be perfect in winter over long johns and my more ample winter frame. Will absolutely buy again, maybe in size 4. Also, the tag says made in India if you care about that. ... show more
