  • Amazing but leg length was off for shorter legs
Size: 2 Color: Yukon
The quality was great and it fit my waist well. I am petite with a longer torso than legs so they are too long for my legs but that could be hemmed or hopefully longer with boots. I got two pairs! I have gotten shorts from this brand before that fit perfectly as well. The color was the same as pictured. ... show more

  • Good
I realize that I'm petite (5'2", 110 lb.), but I'm not so undersized that the smallest of these pants (Size 2 Short) should swallow me whole. I love the fabric and the overall design of these pants, and I'm desperate for a new pair of sturdy pants for gardening and DIY projects, so I'm keeping these. After submitting the pants to a very long session on high heat in my dryer, they are slightly smaller, enough so that I no longer look like a clown. I still have to cinch them significantly with a belt, and after gardening in them, the bottom cuffs end up filthy and soaking wet from dragging behind my heels, so the "Short" option didn't do me much good. I'll likely have to pay someone to hem them anyway. Yet despite my issues with the sizing, notice that I still give these 4 stars. The weight of the fabric is great and not too thick or hot, even in Georgia in July, yet they feel durable enough for my purposes. I hope they'll prove me right. I love the pockets, and the fact that they're big and deep. They're not too tight for your hand to reach in (unlike some other Carhartt pants), yet you don't feel like anything will fall out. The color is a short of slightly washed-out dark grey that borders on blue, which I find very appealing (much moreso than Black, or Moss). If you're not so worried about the pants running large, you're likely to be very pleased with these pants. I'm disappointed that I can only like them, but will never love them. ... show more

  • Other reviewers are right — the fabric is a joke
Size: 8 Color: Coal
These aren't REALLY "original fit", but they come much closer than anything available in the last few years. Between the now-slimmer cut and the cheesy fabric, I found it best to size up. The Good — Finally, a REAL hammer loop,! The cell phone pocket (left leg) grew; too. But — warning — if It fits my new rugged flip phone, I suspect it doesn't handle a lot of the smart phones out there. The Bad — These are not quite the real original cut. Although you can size up to get freedom of movement (and extend the life of the fabric in some respects) the waist then gaps. Front pockets have shrunk, although they still do function as real pockets. The Ugly — What kind of a sick joke is this fabric supposed to be? Kind of like scrubs material cut as carpenter pants. OK for summer wear if you can handle replacing them all the time. Give me the good old sandstone duck (like they still make for men) ANY DAY. I can already shred those (double fronts!) working on this farm. The front pocket material is even weenier than before. Better not plan to carry keys or a knife or any of that, you know, useful stuff. Does Carhartt think the cows will let people get away with carrying a purse or something??? I've only rated these as high as three stars because the competition (in women's work wear) is even worse. ... show more

  • Runs Large!
I am 5'3" and 128 lbs give or take with a mom belly. I have a straight figure. I am pretty much always a small and a size 6, every now and then a size 4. So, I started with a size 6 in the grey - It was HUGE on me! So, the smallest size I can buy is a 2, so I tried it. The waist was still a little loose and length was still long but I decided to keep them. After a couple washings, they have shrunk and fit just right. If the pant legs were a little more slim and shorter, then they would be perfect, but for now they are some of my favorite pants. I really appreciate the side thigh pockets! I can sit comfortably with my phone in one of those pockets. So far they seem okay for Florida but I haven't endured the summer months yet. As a side note, I tried buying the black pair in a size 2 but when I tried those on, they were too tight.....so I really am unsure about the consistency of Carhartt sizing. I also tried the professional slim pant (different style altogether) and ended up with a size 6 khaki color. I don't like those as much because they are more polyester (hot) and only one side pocket but they do look like a more professional pant - material is kind of shiny. They do fit well - still long on me even though I bought the short version. ... show more
