  • Good product
Style: Standard
I finally got to use these awning supports with our new trailer. My old trailer had the manual awning supports and handled wind better. The new electronic awning isn’t as heavy duty so the supports are really important if it’s raining or windy. I would t use this for heavy wind as it’s only as strong as the stake you put in the ground to hold the support in place, but it definitely helps. Couple minor suggestions: I’m going to cut a PVC tube about two inches long so the foot of the support will sit in the ground. That way my dog won’t pull it away when her leash tangles with it. A small stake would also work through the plastic foot on the pole, even one just a few inches long. I’m also going to get a heavier duty stake for the strap, at least when I’m on soft ground. Last suggestion and an easy fix, the u-shaped hook at the top that the awning sits in simply sits on top of the pole. It falls off easy when it’s not in use. Something that had a push fit would be a little better. ... show more

  • Works fantastic if set up correctly
Style: Heavy Duty
I’ve used these on several trailers with Carefree awnings, and they’ve all held up great, even in very heavy winds. Most failures are the result of improper setup, or over tightening straps or connections, as evidenced by the photos that have been posted.

  • Almost complete product fail
Style: Heavy Duty
We have a fifth wheel trailer with the Traveler 20’ awning and just recently replaced the support arms due to wind damage that snapped one of the arms off. We’ve been using the awning for over a year, across the country with few issues. Currently in Florida during storm season and looking for something more robust. Rolling the awning in every time a storm comes through isn’t practical. A pair of ratchet straps on the awning was enough to protect the awning from flying upwards. Needed something to take the downward load. That’s where I hoped the poles would work. First problem was they were too short. The only way I could get them to reach was to lower the pitch all the way down. If these did not have the adjustable pitch, the poles wouldn’t even come close. Second problem was the pole height adjustment would not support the awning, even in light winds. It took very little pressure to lower the pole where it was no longer supporting the awning. This brings me to the third issue. The top of the poles has a post used to affix the support saddle that contacted the awning tube. There is no way of securing this connection. No set screw, no threads, no coupling. Just a smooth post. Effectively the saddle just sits on top of the post. In a situation where you expect some movement (like the wind) and in particular when the pole itself is prone to shortening itself, this means you pole will just fall to the ground if you have more than 2” of movement. About the only positive thing I have to say about it is that the material seems like the right choice. Aluminum won’t rust and can be left outside as intended. The only possibility where this product might work is if you have a much shorter setup where the awning height is about 5’ off the ground. Disappointing product from the manufacturer of the awning. I can’t recommend this product in the least. ... show more

  • Fantastic idea, but a pricey
Style: Heavy Duty
I bought these for my RV. It has an 18' awning design that has no support arms similar to those in the photo. I am not sure of the engineer who designed it, but they seem to be pretty well detached from reality. An awning that cantilevers off the side of your RV 9' with no support at all? Then consider how poorly RV construction is. The awning mounts may or may not be screwed into anything substantial. On its best day it is a poor design. I believe even with no wind or wind gusts these awnings would rip the mounting screws out. If you are unsure do an internet search and you will find tons of complaints related to this design. I shake my head as to why any reputable RV manufacturer would include them on their rigs from the factory other than they don't care. The awning manufacturer provides a solution - These supports are essentially prop rods that prop rods that support the unsupported roller of the extended awning. They are easily adjusted for height. They are provide an arguably even more important function of holding down the awning in the event of light winds through the ingenious way the straps are routed. This product is well thought out and well made. The only downside is they are probably twice as expensive as they should be. There are many cheap DIY solutions out there, but I did not have the time to mess with them. ... show more

  • sturdy
Style: Standard
this product was easy to set up and was sturdy, we tend to camp at the coast and can get some pretty windy days/nights, we use this to add extra support to a room tent that attaches to the awning and camper. In the past you would need to roll up awning as it would flap and bounce around causing loads of noise and stress on the awning arms and fabric. with these two support arms and straps the awning had no up and down movement and helped stabilize the tent/awning structure. ... show more

  • Cannot Hold Down
Style: Standard
The two poles work - at least for now. I'm not sure about metal-inside-metal tolerances and whether dirt or grit will eventually stop them from changing length. However the stakes are worthless. They are big smooth nails. My estimate is that they hold down no more than 1/2 the force required to get them into the ground. Soft soil - holding power may be a pound or two. After purchase you will have to buy spiral stakes for this product to work. ... show more

  • Perfect awning supports
Style: Standard
Our awnings don’t come with a lot of support so previously any breeze I was bringing the awnings in. I purchased these and it was absolutely great to be able to use our awnings this past weekend. Wouldn’t have been able to use without them. I bought this set for the shorter awning but had to buy a different set that costs more than double these are because these are not tall enough for 13.5 foot trailers. I even used blocks on these so they weren’t extended as far and were a lot more stable. Work great. So nice to be able to use our awnings now. If you’re on the fence purchase these. I did take a 6’ ladder to put on and glad I did ... show more
