Pricey but does the job. Had this overnighted due to failure of the original. OEM and fit right. However, the soft cast aluminum hub is the weak part of the assembly and one must buy the entire thing if the hole in the hub wears round and allows the awning to deploy. Since the gas struts force the awning arms out, the only thing that keeps the awning rolled up against the coach is the motor shaft in the roller tube hub. The original has one flat side on the shaft and hub while this replacment has two. Better but still not good enough. A pin through the shaft and hub is all that is needed to prevent unintended deployment. This could happen on the road and thank my lucky stars it happened in the campground while packing up. It would have been a disaster after we left the next day. I will be installing a safety pin mechanism to prevent deployment, something the manufacturer should have done long ago. Just as a tip for others that may end up in this situation, the cap on the idler end is identical and the two can be switched around to get you back in service. I did not realize this until after the fact. Also I highly recommend that if you have this type of awning, that you install a locking device to prevent the roller tube from rotating while the awning is stowed. ... show more

Carefree of Colorado awning motor strips gears. Put new motor in . New motor caused short in Wireing. Discussion with carefree of Colorado awning ref that when awning is fully upright, unable to dissemble plastic casing since the screws to case are in the inside (top) of the cap and RV. Suggested the idiot that designed this should have put the screw access on the outside(bottom) of the cover, instead of the top. They did not want to listen. This will be a ongoing problem with the awnings so they can make money on repairs. ... show more

Because we weren’t sure what was the problem with our awning, we ordered this piece, a separate motor and a separate gear assembly. (3 separate purchases). Turns out we needed this piece, but the motor did not work. We took out the motor and replaced with old motor, and new second motor. Both worked fine. ... show more
