  • Better than the original
Replaced both arms in approximately 1 hr, everything needed is included. Took 2 people to replace the roll but was fairly easy. These arms are adjustable so your can have a tilt to the canopy for rain to run off. Would definitely buy again

  • Replaces the older fixed pitch model
I damaged my fixed pitch awning (built in 2011) and had to replace the arms, I called Carefree customer service to confirm the fitment, my only complaint is I had to sit on hold for over one hour to ask a couple of questions. I did learn that the adjustable pitch is the only option offered now, which was great as that is what I wanted anyway. The new arms fit the original mounting holes, so it was a simple swap and replace. Definitely a two person job especially when trying to replace the canopy material. ... show more

  • Great part but no instructions or tips.
Replaced our old arms and motor with this one. Fairly straight-forward install but there were no instructions in the box. Some complained that the motor wires were too short and that would be the case if this were a first-time installation and not a replacement. Trailer manufacturers run a separate set of wires from the inside motor control to the outside of the trailer. The wire used to connect this motor is only long enough to get you inside the trailer but not some convenient place to mount the controller. The kit does include a switch and electrics for it but not enough wire for a brand new installation. We took off the old hardware leaving only the aluminum span attached to the awning itself (the round tube the awning rolls up on). Installed the arms, wired the motor using the existing wire coming from inside the trailer. Putting the old awning back on is a little tricker, you have to let the awning unroll a bit (or all the way) and lift it into place while collapsing the arms just a bit. That is a two-person job but it is not difficult with a pair of ladders. There may be a better way but it was quick for my teen-aged son and I- about 45min. Just don't try and do it outside if there is any breeze. The Motor is strong and quiet. It is nice having a working awning again after a microburst threw the last awning and arms up on top of the trailer! ... show more

  • Same quality and fit as original, nearly.
The arms were pretty straightforward to replace. I would recommend 2 people minimum for the install. I had an extremely difficult time doing this by myself. Everything fit very well, except for the very top mounting area. My old arms had a single hole slightly larger than the bolt to hold it in place, but the new arms had a large space where the bolt hole should be. I had to cut a piece off of the old arm to make a "washer" to cover the large hole and hold the top of the rail to the camper. Other than that, it is made very well and performs excellent. ... show more

  • Fit exactly, not all parts included
Replaced an broken one exactly. Did not come with lower arm cosmetic covers. I just reused the old ones that fit exactly. Also did not come with the upper L bracket to initially hang the arms from the top of the trailer. Again, reused the old ones. All the holes lined up exactly. Tips - Get the wind detector module. It is a one button touch extend and retract. Be sure to put the cable into the arm channel before mounting it on the trailer. - Reuse parts from your old awning if you have the same style - use 3/16" pop-rivets, with a wide head, to anchor to the trailer. - Keep the tie-wrap in place when installing. Hold the head unit when releasing the tie-wrap as it is under lots of spring force. ... show more

  • Very impressive replacement.
I was a little hesitant to purchase an expensive item like this online, considering the hassle if I had an issue, but these replacement arms were top of the line! We have 2008 Jay Flight G2 by Jayco, and we had a horrible storm that broken the motorized arm. These arms were twice this amount from multiple dealers in my area (Indiana) with pickup, even if I put them on myself! The package comes with around 20 ft of wiring (if you are doing a fresh install on a camper that doesn't already have an awning, and a switch that is ready to go. This setup was extremely easy to put on with an extra set of hands. Unbolt the 5 screws on each side and replace. I did run into an issue where the bolt holes didn't completely lineup with existing holes, but using a drill bit to extend the slot wasn't difficult to do. I was also impressed with the quiet motor. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase these arms again if I had to. I was very impressed. ... show more

  • Really Great!
Replaced the mechanical awning arms with these powered ones and now my wife (who helped me install them) is always wanting to put out the awning. Even my grandson rolled it up for me....just a push of a button. Install them this way; slide the awning fabric onto your RV awning rail. Let the fabric hang down. Hang the two arms. Let the arms out 6 in or so and use a cable tie or duct tape or some restraint to keep them from fully extending. Slide the fabric on to the awning roller tube and then screw or rivet the awning roller tube on to the arms. Use a 12 volt battery to roll up the fabric on the roller tube. Remove restraints and rout your wire to the switch and you are done! Highly recommended. ... show more

  • bent end cap
Not happy with Amazons way of getting in touch with them. I bought these Carefree awning arms and one came damaged with just a awning tube end cap bent. I would just like a new end cap sent to me. I did not want to go through the hassle of sending it back. Trying to get in touch with Amazon is impossible. So I'm not happy! ... show more
