The strap material is thinner than what you could pick up at a craft store. But it is ready to install and requires a 3/16” channel.

Perfect replacement for the one rotted pull strap on our 2013 Entegra Coach that has four Carefree window awnings. Really easy to replace, that is, no tools required except for a ladder. Not sure when Carefree started or if they always included the slot/groove in the top of their awning's end caps but these slots/grooves sure make the pull strap replacement a snap.     • Good product but toss the installation instructions
I replaced my original pull straps from 1996 awnings. The instructions will lead you in the direction of disassembling the end caps and would require you to have a rivet gun. There are YouTube instructions to drill out a small section of the channel on one end and replace that way. It is much easier this way. The channel is a soft aluminum that is easily widened by a drill bit. ... show more

    • Will not fit an A & E window awning
The channel for an A & E Elite/Delux window awning is approximately 3/16" or less. Carefree and others require 1/4" channel. Check out the you tube! I modified the strap by removing the 3/16" pin from my awning strap and the 1/4" sliding pin from the Carefree Strap with a razor blade and sewing on the 3/16" sliding pin. Not so easy to install per instructions but found and alternate way without drilling out rivets. Proper way is to do it per instructions. I just drilled into the groove that it slides into and slid it down the groove and cut of the old one.

They are great straps and came with everything need to replace the strap, however I didn't measure the correct length of the strap and had to order the 43" ones. but they did fit the canopy over the kitchen window. so now I have three extra ones in case that one fails.
