This is my fifth season riding and only my first headset - it’s only been two days with it and it is incredible. I don’t have any frame of reference other than listening to wind, but I’ll do my best here. With any non-integrated headset, installation will be involved and may take some trial and error for optimal placement. I couldn’t fit the speakers on the interior of the shell due to the interior padding’s styrofoam, but I was able to fit them inside the ear recess of my cheek pads which is even better. Setting up is very easy. Quick pairing to your phone, downloading and signing up for the cardo app just takes a few minutes. Tweaking the bulk of the volume settings will take less than a few short rides. The update after pairing was the biggest delay of ~5 minutes. With the speakers essentially touching my ears, volume is a non-issue for me. Even at its lowest setting, sound is plenty loud at a stop. The app’s setting for environment-adjusted volume didn’t seem to work for me, but that might just take more tweaking. Controls are easy to use, even with thick gloves. 4 buttons with ridges to easily find which one you need, and learning/remembering the taps, double taps, and combinations comes quick enough. No real limitation in functionality there. This specific model only intercoms with one other rider natively, great for riding with a passenger or a single buddy within close range. Of course, leveraging your phone and bluetoothing into a discord chat is another option to get more riders with this headset. I rode for five hours earlier listening to music and intercomming with a buddy, and when I got home my battery was still over 50%. Removing the module from the mount and charging with USB-C is too easy. Music, phone calls, directions, intercom chatting, and Siri during your ride is awesome after riding without for years. I can’t speak for any other headset, but for less than $100, this was a great investment for me. ... show more

it does what it's supposed to do. I works great for two helmets for me and a second rider. The sound is great. It connects easily to my phone. The sound quality is good even without the JBL upgrade. I can hear music and directions clearly at up to 50 mph. I can still hear it at 60mph, but on a naked bike the wind takes over. I'm not sure I need to upgrade the sound. It's already good. Also answering the phone and changing volume while driving is easy after your remember where the buttons are. It's a whole new riding experience. Playing music can eat the battery in a few hours but just communication and directions last hours even on a long ride. Great purchase. ... show more

These Cardo headsets are great quality. Sound is great and easy to install if helment is made for it. It makes riding in groups safer and easier to stay together with communication between riders. Battery life last all day or about 10 hours charges fast also.

Primarily bought it to pair up with my riding friend's comm. Haven't used it for that yet so I'll update my review when I do. Meanwhile, installation was easy. Pairs easily with my S10. Music sounded fine at moderate volume. I don't intend to crank it up. I only need music to be in the background. Update: audio quality is good at all volumes. Also don't intend to talk on calls while riding. However, I tested it while walking around outside with my helmet on. My friend said I sounded clear and I could hear them clearly as well. I like the simplicity of the unit with the 4 buttons that are accessible even with gauntlets on. Entire rig added about 8.5 oz to my helmet. Haven't tested battery life fully, but it was fine on an hour ride. Overall, for the price and my intended use, it fits my needs. I ride mostly alone. The few times I ride with my friend, I'm counting on it to work fine pairing to what ever comm they're using. UPDATE: pairs easily with my friend's other brand unit. Sounds good, easy to communicate during rides with him. Update: I bought 3 and probably buying a 4th, 2 for my HJC helmets, 1 for my son's AGV, 1 for my AGV. Note: installed the speakers without the mounting pads. The pads added too much thickness and speakers pressed hard on my ears in my HJC C91. The cheek pads hold them in just fine without velcro. Initial install was disappointing. It sounded very flat. It was loud but that was it. From what people have told me the microphone sounds decent. I finally looked it up and ended up putting the spacer pads in with the speakers, and wow what a difference. It makes it a little closer to my ear, and even though I have to fold my ears back every time I put it on, the sound is significantly better. I’ve only used it for a day but the battery life seems okay, and the connectivity works well for me just using Bluetooth. ... show more

Got this as a budget option compared to the pack talk. This is a great tool when riding with a new rider. The battery life lasts over multiple rides. Has a reasonable amount of noise cancellation and even the cheaper speakers work good. Had them installed in two helmets pretty quickly. The size of the unit on the outside is small enough to not be in the way but large enough to easily find the buttons even with gloves on. I have been using various wireless and wired ear pods for years, this is my first in helmet system. I use in a Schuberth helmet which is fairly quiet, and I am impressed with the quality of sound. The helmet had recesses for the speakers, and installation was easy. Consistent and reliable connection to my iphone, no dropped signals. Great for music when riding. I have not used the microphone for telephone calls except for testing purposes, but my wife mentioned she could not tell it was from my helmet. One of the reasons for the purchase was also the ability to dial 911 in case of any road emergencies, from my helmet using iphone Siri and verbal commands hands free while still riding.
