Description

This Capri Tools disc brake pad spreader is incredible at compressing the inner brake pad and resetting the piston for an easier pad replacement. Features a large and powerful handle for maximum torque and slip resistant grip for added comfort. The 2 piece heavy-duty construction works by lodging between the pads while you twist the knob at the end. This forces the break pads apart with less effort. Useful for light trucks, imported and domestic cars.

  • Best damn brake tool I've ever used... I love this thing
Size: Heavy Duty
On a scale of 1 to 5 stars, this thing is a 10 star... I change brakes for I think every single person I've ever met. Not really but I definitely do at least 15 brake jobs a year for friends and family for free. I just used this tool today for the first time and I have never had such an easier time doing brakes... As a matter of fact I'm ordering a few more of these tonight too. Just in case something happens to the one I already have. I've got so many different brake tools and this one is by a million times my favorite. And I think it's cheap as hell for what you are getting... I now have 3 of them, because the first one worked so good. I've been changing brakes for the last 34 years and have never looked forward to it. I just did it to save money and help other people save money. Even though I have the impact and all the tools necessary to make it easier. I just never liked doing it for whatever reason. Lazy? Idk... What I do know is that I'm excited now and I can't wait to do brakes again... No more large C clamp for me anymore. Yes I also have the other specialty tools but nothing even comes close to this thing... The quality on this tool is definitely superior to most others... And yes it's heavy duty. I just used it on my 2015 chevy tahoe ltz with the max brake package and it was so easy to push the large dual pistons all the way back. My 3 yr old granddaughter could have easily pushed those pistons back with this tool... Yes its that easy that you will do it with one hand and the other hand holding the caliper... No problems at all, not even a hint of trouble. I should have changed my pads sooner though because I waited so long that the pad was gone and I screwed up my rotors. That's how much I disliked doing brakes... I had the pads for almost a year waiting for mine to go bad... No excuses other than I just didn't like doing brakes until now... I just included a picture of just one of my socket drawers for those who may think that I'm just a guy with very few tools who doesn't really know what I'm talking about... I am a huge tool guy... I have just thousands and thousands of dollars worth of tools. ... show more

  • Good tool for Weekend Warriors and Professionals
Size: Heavy Duty
This tool certainly makes brake replacement jobs quite a bit easier. With a tool like this, persons like me who don't have a clamp no longer need to fight with screwdrivers to compress the caliper pistons. Aside from the knob itself (plastic) and the swivel joint (rubber), the tool is made from steel that feels very solid. I've used it about 6 times now, (3 instances of brake pad replacement) and never had any reason to doubt its ability. Naturally, this won't work for calipers with pistons that also need rotation. I'm fairly certain it would work fine for multi-piston calipers, but I do not have any experience with multi-piston calipers. As for the value, at first, it seemed expensive at $19. But the more I've used it, the more I treasure it. As I said in the title, if you're a weekend warrior or professional I believe this is a must-have tool. ... show more

  • It works well and you need it
Size: Heavy Duty
I have no idea why I waited so long to get something like this, but it definitely does the job in a safe and efficient manner. No more pliers or screwdrivers needed.

  • sturdy and works as advertised
Size: Heavy Duty
Tool makes short work of retracting a single piston back into its bore. Threaded part finely machined and has no play. The tip of press is made of steel (not rubber) and articulates smoothly. Knob is made of hollow plastic, but is sturdy enough, and features a hex at the tip to engage an optional socket. Two drawbacks come to mind. 1) A block of wood to bridge the hollow of the piston is required, but hard to do as the wood slips off as you tighten the tool 2) on dual piston calipers, retracting one piston could extend the other piston. This tool is a poor substitute for a dual piston press, but is much cheaper and when used with a larger piece of wood to bridge both pistons simultaneously, could retract both at the same time. ... show more

  • Caliper piston tool
Size: Heavy Duty
Used once so far on my Yukon and worked great. My Yukon had 2 pistons so I used c-clamp to hold one in and while pushing the other one in. Quality seems pretty good, we’ll see how it holds up after many used. So far great buy

  • Right Tool for the Job
Size: Heavy Duty
This thing was a life saver on my last brake job. Easy enough to use on my 1995 Toyota Camry XLE at all four corners. No more C-Clamps. This thing just worked!

  • Pretty good for the money. Surprising!
Size: Standard
I've used this on two brake jobs now and I can say that I am VERY satisfied compared to what I thought. I had used C-clamps and bar clamps in the past to compress the cylinders. That worked, but it was VERY awkward to do. These make it significantly better. True, I still have to use one hand to both position and screw the thing in, but that's only to get it started. Once it's started, it requires only a little pressure to get the job done. This was on a car and small SUV, so your mileage might vary. ... show more
