  • Nano USM motors are used for two floating focus units that can work in tandem or independently providing fast and quiet focus - great for video.

  • Compatible with Power Zoom Adapters PZ-E2/PZ-E2B.
  • Focus breathing control during video shooting.

Description

The RF35mm F1.4 L VCM is an entirely new L-series lens, targeting a wide range of still-image and video shooters, with a combination of very moderate wide- angle coverage, a fast f/1.4 maximum aperture, and excellent optical design. On a full frame camera this lens gives you a slightly wide-angle look which has for decades been used in photojournalism and street photography, and has become a very popular wedding shoot look. On the video side, this lens really shines with a dedicated manual Iris ring, and a new linear focus motor called a VCM (Voice Coil Motor) that is virtually silent. The VCM works in tandem with a Nano USM on the floating focus unit for incredibly fast autofocus. And finally, focus breathing is barely noticeable on this incredibly versatile lens.

  • Glad for the update
This is a great lens. I’ve had a few EF versions and the first RF version. Glad to have this updated one in my bag.

  • Super fast and sharp lens
I recently upgraded my camera to a mirrorless R6mk2 I already own a f2.8 70-200 EF lens and adapter but decided to get the RF version Although very happy with the EF version I found the RF exceeding my expectations Not only is it lighter but the images are very sharp and the autofocus is incredibly fast. A great addition for my camera Although expensive I’m happy worth the cost to get this lens ... show more

  • Favorite Canon Lens
This has replaced the EF 35MM 1.4 as my favorite lens to shoot with. It stays attached to my R5 mk2. The best optics of any canon lens I've ever personally used.

  • Took great photos, but mine had a QC issue
Took amazingly sharp photos and was a joy to use, however, my copy had a bad dust seal under the focus ring that was shedding particles onto the lens body and into the lens itself. Unfortunately these are now out of stock so I can’t get another copy. But I hopefully will soon!

  • Lightweight and better stabilized
I really enjoyed using these lenses. My old version worked great and gave me some of my best shots. But a new era has opened for the next generation. I hate the Canon engineers for the stupid design of the rear cap — now I have to carefully find the correct position just to close it.
