The lens is amaaaaaazing, sharp, fast, light to carry, the zoom is fast, subtle and the zoom ring turns effortlessly. With the R6M2 it tracks faces so fast, also refocus as command pretty fast too. I have no complaints on this. Somehow glass feels cheap, but thats my perception, because the pictures are supper sharp! Oh man is this lens not only sharp, but also just a joy to use ergonomically/weight/feel wise. Paired with a R5m2, it rocks on both stills and video. Used it for several multi day South Asian weddings, some portrait shoots, and more and just was consistently happy with the results. Even used it more than my RF 135 F2, and 28-70 F2 since it just really matched my needs. The focus speed is super quick, snappy and accurate. I did use a RF 2x telecoverter on it and stills focus was fast, but video focus was shall we say "Cinematically slow". There was a major difference in the speed with the 2x tele just for video, on photos it was snappy. Something I adore about the lens is the very short throw to zoom from 70-200. Shockingly, I don't suggest you buy this lens unless you specifically need what's unique to it. If you haven't purchased a 70-200 before but want a native RF glass, the 70-200 F4 (Which I do own also) is wonderful, sharp, and very very good. It's great for video, it's great for still, and it's stunningly sharp. If you don't mind that the barrel extends, and want maximum portability, the RF 70-200 2.8 non Z is INCREDIBLE. It's clinically sharp, and looks great. Isn't a magic lens like the RF 85 1.2L, but is an incredible work horse. If you don't want the barrel extension, want to use power zoom, don't mind paying FOMO prices, or just dumb like me and wanted a black lens because it's been 23 years since you've owned a Black L series telephoto lens (I had the original 80-200 2.8L Canon EF that was black purchased 2nd hand) then this lens is great. ... show more

I was perfectly happy with my EF 70-200 2.8L III and my R5m2. The performance was nothing short of legendary. I upgraded to this lens because of it's focusing speed/accuracy. I am simply blown away by it's ability to track a subject even in traffic! 3 mode Image stabilization if so good, that I can shoot 200mm at double digit shutter speeds. And the image quality is simply incredible; better than ANY 70-200 variant before it. It's impressively sharp across wide open at every focal length! But sharpness isn't enough to justify buying this lens, and Canon knew that. So they put in a impressive set of additional features like power zoom adapter integration, aperture ring and more. And it's also built for exceptional video work! But hey, I get it: Is it worth that steep price? That's your call. But what I can tell you is that it will exceed your expectations. ... show more

Wow. Incredibly sharp lens delivers insane image quality. No vignetting, negligible distortion. Ideal for mid distance photo/video shooting, easy to catch "that" moment. Paired with R5 Mk2 is incredible. Definitely heavy for long shooting but it's worth having it during events. It also comes with protection bag and strap for easy carrying, freeing up bag space. Fantastic for solo shooters once you figure out how to use zoom/focus/aperture rings properly. They're super smooth but since lens is long and rigged camera is hefty, it's hard at times to reach those rings. Definitely my favorite, easy to do portrait shots. ... show more

I recently upgraded my camera to a mirrorless R6mk2 I already own a f2.8 70-200 EF lens and adapter but decided to get the RF version Although very happy with the EF version I found the RF exceeding my expectations Not only is it lighter but the images are very sharp and the autofocus is incredibly fast. A great addition for my camera Although expensive I’m happy worth the cost to get this lens ... show more
