  • Outstanding Value
Is this lens at par with more expensive RF lenses from $3,000 to $12,000? Of course not. Is F11 an ideal aperture? Of course not. However, I picked this up for roughly $500 and under decent light conditions, it provides exceptional results. Canon has done a nice job here. As others have stated, the lens is extremely light and can be handheld all day long. I have more expensive Canon options and I feel the the autofocus on the RF F11 600 is pretty responsive. Also, the form factor of this lens is small and manageable. With this lens, you get A LOT MORE than you pay for. The more I use the lens, the more I like it. If you are willing to spend a little time getting acclimated to the RF F11 600, it will provide outstanding value. I have to believe that the 800 is every bit as good as this. ... show more

  • Good So Far/Not for Everyone
I received the lens today and have only done a few shots but I am liking what I am seeing. I will update this review after I have used it for a while. Unfortunately the price and the long focal length will attract a lot of people who will not know how to use it because they don't understand the basics of photography. If you cannot clearly define reciprocity as it relates to photography, don't know the Exposure Triangle, understands the mathematics involved, etc., then you will probably will not like this lens. This is not a criticism of the lens. I am looking forward to using the lens and my first impression is that the image quality will be good and the small size and the lighter weight will be a boon for older shooters like me. Upate: I took the lens out for a while yesterday and am really pleased with the results. There is definitely a learning curve and I still believe this lens is not for everyone. However, if you know the technical aspects of photography or are willing to learn, this lens is a reasonably priced way to have a long telephoto that did not exist prior to this new lens. ... show more

  • Excellent value for the price
This lens is absolutely excellent, so long as you are planning to use it in situations where it is meant to be used. Think wildlife in well-lit situations, or sports that happen during the middle of the day. The autofocus speed is nothing to complain about so long as you manage your expectations. You simply can't find a 600mm anywhere else for anywhere close to this price. Keep in mind that the autofocus will be limited to the center of the image, so as to say- no edge-to-edge autofocusing even with the R5. This image was captured in Jackson Hole on the 600mm wide open and handheld. The camera used was the Canon r5. ... show more

  • Does what it’s made to do, and does it very well!
The media could not be loaded. Although this lens is most definitely a one trick pony, locked at 600mm. If you’re looking for a lens to reach out and grab some far shots? Look no further. Although there are some small limitations in way of versatility, this lens does what it sets out to do in such a great way. This video was taken in a point and shoot fashion. VERY easy to use, shoot, and learn. Auto focus can be a little slow but it isn’t horrible at all. ... show more

  • Amazing!
I LOVE it! I’ve taken a few photos today with it. I don’t have any complaints. The lens was packed incredibly well too!

  • RF600 doesn’t disappoint.
I was sceptical that an f11 lens would be useful but decided to try it out. The price seemed very reasonable. I was very surprised at my results. Obviously you will have to use the lens in good light and even then shoot at relatively high ISO’s but the results are quite good. Image stabilization in the lens coupled , in my case, with IBIS in the R5 made hand holding doable as low as 1/60th with good sharpness. The lens is not an “L” lens and the build quality is ok. Very good for what you pay. I wish they had supplied a lens hood. All in all a very nice lens for the price. More for events and the beach than for birds. I’m glad I bought it and thanks to Amazon for the very fast delivery. ... show more

  • This is a very slow lens with very limited applications.
I liked the weight and size of the lens. I bought this lens for taking images of eagles in the nest and in flight. This lens will take good images from a distance but needs a monopod or tripod to get anything usable. It is very slow to focus and only if the target is in the very middle of the frame which limits your composition. That being said, it will allow you to take photos at distances that are outside the reach of the 70 to 200 mm lens without adding a lot of additional weight. I chose to keep this lens until I can afford the faster Zoom. You will likely notice the difference in clarity, but at least you will have a memory captured for personal use. ... show more

  • Great Lens
Bought this for my husband for his mirrorless canon camera. Awesome lens! Easy to use and focus either automatic or manual.
