Description

As part of our new RF-S lens line, the RF-S18-45mm F4.5-6.3 IS STM gives you the flexibility you desire without taking up your whole camera bag. This lens was designed with smaller APS-C sensors in mind, and when joined with a full frame EOS R camera, automatically enables the 1.6x crop mode. It offers 100% x 100% Dual Pixel CMOS AF coverage for APS-C sensors, and 80% x 80% Dual Pixel CMOS AF coverage for Full Frame sensors (in crop mode). The small size of the RF-S18-45mm and clever lens retraction mechanism lets it fit just about anywhere, making it a great lens to bring with you on a walk or wherever the day takes you. The lead screw-type stepping motor (STM) helps ensure smooth autofocus and quiet operation, letting you capture videos with great audio and minimal background noise so you won’t distract your subject in a quiet photo environment. Optical Image Stabilization provides up to 4 stops of correction, and up to 6 stops with Coordinated IS. This advanced image stabilization can result in sharper photos with minimal blur, even in low light situations. When you add all of this together, you get a wonderful, lightweight, and versatile lens that is designed to fit into your life.

  • Excellent product and great peace of mind!
I recently purchased the Canon RF-S18-45mm F4.5-6.3 Lens (Renewed) as an affordable option for everyday photography with my Canon mirrorless camera. Overall, I am very pleased with the lens, especially considering it is a renewed product. The build quality is solid and feels well-made for a lightweight kit lens. It’s compact and easy to carry, which makes it ideal for travel, street photography, and casual shooting. The zoom range from 18mm to 45mm covers wide-angle to short telephoto, giving me flexibility for landscapes, portraits, and general-purpose shots. The lens also focuses quietly and smoothly, which is especially useful when recording video. Image quality is impressive for a kit lens. The colors are vibrant, and the sharpness is good across most of the frame, though I do notice a slight softness at the edges when shooting wide open at 18mm. Chromatic aberration is minimal and easily corrected in post-processing if needed. I’ve used this lens in both bright daylight and indoor lighting, and it performs well in typical scenarios, though low-light performance is limited due to the maximum aperture of F4.5-6.3. Since this is a renewed lens, I was initially concerned about potential defects, but it arrived in excellent condition with no scratches or functional issues. Canon’s renewal process seems reliable, and it includes a warranty, which adds peace of mind. Overall, the Canon RF-S18-45mm F4.5-6.3 Lens (Renewed) offers a solid, lightweight, and versatile option for Canon mirrorless users who want a general-purpose zoom lens without paying full retail price. It’s ideal for beginners, travel photographers, or anyone looking for a convenient lens that delivers good image quality in a compact package. ... show more

  • Great lense
This little gem arrived this morning and I couldn’t wait to try it in the discription it says auto focus but I didn’t see any switches so I’m thinking I’ll try it for the price but I don’t usually do manual focus unless it’s over 500mm so I got this little beauty this and while my wife was making breakfast I was taking pictures of her with this great little lenses on 18x in our little kitchen I couldn’t believe how clear and sharp this lens is and yes it does have auto focusing and hits it dead on I couldn’t be happier thought of sending the 24-55 I got back but with the foul up by the shipping company and the fight to get that my first lens for my new R8 I guess there will always be sentimental value to it I bought the camera body only and for the first I got the 24-55 I grabbed it thinking it would beat the camera here but I got the camera and no lenses yet to fit it borrowed my wife’s effect-s to R adapter to set it up but some things won’t register without a RF lens so I was happy when it got here! After the struggle was over this cute lil 18-45 shows up this morning and knocked my Sox off and you can believe what it says about auto focus it’s there just no outside switch the camera controls the lens I like that it makes sense and one less opening in the lens body for moisture to seep in and fog the inside of your lens. They have been nitrogen sealing rifle scopes for years not sure why they don’t do camera lenses the same. This 18-45 is a great buy and you won’t be disappointed Charlie C.N.O photography ... show more

  • The “I Swear This Is a Real Camera” Lens (Renewed, Like My Credit Score)
This Canon RF-S 18–45mm f/4.5–6.3 (Renewed) is the lens equivalent of a clean white T-shirt: not flashy, not complicated, and suddenly you’re like, “Oh wow, I can actually leave the house like this.” It’s compact, light, and immediately makes an APS-C EOS R body feel like a camera you’ll actually carry instead of a gym membership you keep paying for. The zoom range is 18–45mm, which covers “I’m in a living room” to “I stepped slightly closer.” Canon calls it versatile, and they’re not wrong—it’s just a very reasonable kind of versatile. Wide enough for family stuff, desk setups, casual travel, and the classic “let me show you what I’m talking about” shot. If you’re expecting dramatic compression or wildlife hero shots, this lens will politely blink at you and suggest you buy different dreams. Now let’s address the aperture: f/4.5–6.3. This lens is not here for your moody candlelit b-roll fantasies. In bright light it’s totally fine. Indoors at night, it becomes a gentle lesson in humility. You’ll be like, “Why is my ISO 6400?” and the lens will be like, “Because you chose compact and lightweight, Brad.” The stabilization is legitimately the best part. Up to 4 stops on its own, and up to 6 stops if your EOS R body has IBIS—which is camera-speak for “your shaky hands can keep their job.” I tested it doing the very scientific method of walking around my house filming a plant like it was a documentary subject, and the footage went from “found footage horror” to “mildly competent adult.” If you ever slap this on a full-frame EOS R camera, it auto-crops to APS-C, which is both helpful and hilarious. You spend all this money on full-frame and the lens goes, “Cool. We’ll be using this much of it.” It works, it’s seamless, it’s also like buying a king bed and sleeping diagonally on a twin. “Renewed” scared me at first, but mine arrived clean, snappy, and ready to work. The little human detail: the packaging had that faint “electronics warehouse” smell - like cardboard and destiny - and the zoom ring felt smooth enough that I didn’t immediately suspect it had lived a hard life on someone’s dusty shelf. Pros: - Compact and lightweight = you’ll actually take your camera with you - Useful everyday focal range (18–45mm) for general shooting and video - Image stabilization is genuinely helpful; even better with IBIS bodies - Solid optical ingredients (aspherics + coating) for clean, modern “kit lens done right” results - Great “starter” lens for RF-mount APS-C without committing to heavier glass Cons: - f/4.5–6.3 means low-light is… a character-building experience - On full-frame bodies it crops automatically (fine, but a little emotionally damaging) - Zoom range tops out at 45mm, so don’t expect flattering tight portraits or reach Best for: APS-C EOS R shooters who want a light everyday lens for travel, family, casual video, and “grab it and go” use. Not for: Low-light lovers or anyone trying to shoot creamy-background portraits without upgrading. Summary: A tiny, stabilized, sensible zoom that won’t impress your gear friends... but it will quietly make you take more photos, which is the whole point. ... show more
