  • Incredible Value. Great Phone.
Style: Moto G Power Size: 64GB Color: Black
I traded my working Samsung Galaxy S8 for this Moto G Power 2020. I liked the Galaxy, but Samsung ended support for the phone at Android 9, with no security updates for the past year, so I felt compelled to part with it. This is a sturdy phone with great battery life at a bargain price. I really don't think you can do better than $220 for a near-pure Android phone with 4GB RAM. The processor is a 6xx series vs. the Samsung's 8xx series. A reboot will take between 60 to 90 seconds, or more. This is not a deal-breaker for me, but for other impatient reviewers, this will seem like forever. You should be realistic. This phone costs a third the price of a Galaxy or iPhone, but has far more than a third the capability. Sound out of the two speakers is excellent. Display is very good. I've used the zoom and regular cameras and it takes great pics. Haven't tried the widescreen yet. There's really no sense in comparing this phone to Apple's iPhones at $1,000 minimum. Apple cameras are the best. That's what the company aims for. It's not really a phone. Should be called iCameras. A few caviats. This phone cones with Android 10 and some early 2020 security updates. Between updating the updates, then upgrading to Android 11, be prepared to reboot the phone at least a dozen times over the first couple days. You can let updates do their thing in the background and reboot less frequently, but I like to get the phone at the newest security update as quickly as possible. Some of the very cool features of Android 11 are the 3 finger screen capture and the various Moto gestures. I'm still figuring out all the stuff this phone is capable of doing, but quite impressed so far. At $220, considering it works with any major carrier, BUY IT ! ... show more

  • It's a winner
Style: Moto G Power Size: 64GB Color: Black
I upgraded from a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge, which I had no intention of replacing until it completely went out on me. Unfortunately it fell prey to a rather common issue that doesn't seem to have a fix on God's green earth, namely, the camera failing in conjunction with locking out the flashlight. This, it turns out, is a problem a lot of phones around its generation have had. I kind of use the camera very often for many things, so it was time to start phone shopping. I hate the idea of spending $500+ dollars on a phone. Never again. That's where the Moto G Power comes in. Not only is it compatible with my Verizon SIM, it's compatible with MINT mobile in case I eventually make the choice to switch. The phone is big, but not overwhelmingly so. It runs well without major lag. It has nice, protective case options. It doesn't come with bloatware which I didn't recognize my hatred for until I was allowed to go without it. It does have a lot of "handy" features that I don't find all that handy, even as a pretty tech savvy 25 year old, but they can go ignored or even disabled. It's nice to know the options are there. The battery does as it says. I can go 3 days without charging, even with regular use and having YouTube on for hours. I'm very impressed. This phone made me even more incredulous that any regular person would ever pay more than this for a phone. With how susceptible they are to breaking, becoming outdated, failing in some way, etc., this is quite literally the best value you can find. Seriously, it's a model from just last year, practically a pocket-sized computer, and costs less than most gaming consoles. I have one sole complaint, and that's the volume and lock buttons. All 3 are very close to together on the right hand side. I miss the standalone home button on the bottom of the phone. I miss the volume and lock buttons being on opposite sides. I fear I always will. But I must move on, into the future. If you're on the fence I suggest you give it a shot. ... show more

  • Great First Phone!
Style: Moto E Size: 32GB Color: Blue
This is an awesome first phone for kids! With 32 gb of storage, it is great for minors who won't be needing a lot of space. I think this is a little small for an adult. It does have an sd card expansion slot, but from my experience it hasn't worked. I bought a 128 g SD card and put it into the slot, but it seems to act like a card to transfer files/photos to and then remove it and put it on a computer, but for me it can't make space for apps or anything like that. It is very durable, I am very clumsy and have dropped this on concrete, hardwood floor, dirt, rocks, and even in my sink while the water is running. With a screen protector, it doesn't have any cracks on the front or back. There are a few scratches on the back though, but I use a clear case with glitter and I wouldn't say that it is noticable. I don't even use a super protective case, though it is not thin. The fingerprint scanner works perfectly!! I have never had any issues with it, it works 99% of the time. Of course the only time it doesn't work is when my hands or wet. The screen works great, it isn't incredibly bright but it's not too dark. The camera also works good for basic stuff, but isn't the best for blogging. It works good for taking photos that look professional though! I have used it for journalism projects, and honestly, they look better than the ones I took on the camera. I use portrait mode and live filter for anyone who's wondering ;) The battery life is okay... I can make it last 2 days, but not using it more than 4 hours a day. If it were at 50% when I go to bed it will be at 30% or so by morning so it does lose battery when your not on it. It does charge particularly quickly, but not as quick as other phones or smart watches. Overall, I think it is a good phone for any one 13 and under, but after a year of use it starts to not work as good. I looked at my storage, and it said 17 gb of it was photos. I moved all my photos onto OneDrive, and it still says my storage is full which is annoying. Now almost the only apps I have on my phone are system ones, and my storage still says it's full. My phone will also take a long time to load sometimes, or I won't receive my group chat messages and I have to go in and manually download them which is hard and time consuming, and they expire if I don't do it soon enough. But that might just be a problem on my end, just something to watch out for! I hope you find the right phone for you!! 👋🏻 ... show more
