    • Nice Reliable & Reasonably-Priced Printer
I've only had this printer for 5 days now, but I've printed from it numerous times, both via the USB port, and wireless, and it has performed extremely well. I have never had a Canon printer in my home office ever before as I've always had HP printers. I gave this one a shot though and so far I'm very impressed with it. It prints on both sides without having to flip the paper manually, and the print copies come out neat and clean. I also don't think it's using up a lot of ink while it's printing either. Setup was easy too. I'm very pleased with the purchase, and anymore its hard to find a good printer for a reasonable price, or a good one for an expensive price for that matter. ... show more

FINALLY. A printer that just works. Easy setup, cute and compact, decent quality printing, and I haven't had to order ink yet so it seems to last longer than all of the other awful printers I've purchased from another well-known printer company (HP). No jamming, no weird error codes or needing to download a bunch of apps to make it work or figure out wth is going on and why it won't print. Just, easy. Bought this to replace a brother Inkvestment printer which was a big waste of money. This canon had some bad reviews, but so far it has exceeded my expectations. Prints flawlessly, quickly, photos turn out very good, unlike the brother printer. It was so simple to setup if you ***skip scanning the QR code and just use a printer cable to your computer and your Wi-Fi connection.*** ***DONT download all of the bloatware they recommend. You don't need it and it just makes using it more complicated. It also tracks your use and sends you all kinds of annoying messages.*** I would have given it 5 stars, but the screen is too small and makes it a little difficult to work with. Finding the Wi-Fi setup and entering your Wi-Fi password is straightforward and discovering it on your computer is easy. I was able to connect three laptops and a desktop to it without any problems and also print from my phone. WOW! This printer was VERY easy to set up and connect to our network to print wirelessly from our phones or computer. It took me more time to figure out where the paper needed to go than to set up the connection. It's quiet and print looks like really good quality. Great product for the price.     • Almost seems too good to be true!
We've been struggling and struggling with our (different name brand) printer, and finally decided to just move on. While I have been trying my hardest to reduce, reuse, and recycle, my wife and I both work from home and we just couldn't go any longer without a reliable printer. We also didn't realize when we bought our old printer that it didn't copy or scan, which proved to be a big issue. Like, I had to drive around town to find a working copy machine a couple weeks ago like it was the 1980s, just to make one copy of an important document for work. This Canon PIXMA prints, copies, and scans, and we are thrilled with it so far. I can't believe what a great value this is, and I'm beyond happy with it so far. It couldn't have been easier to set up, and the instructions are clear and simple. I think it took less than ten minutes from the time I realized this had been delivered, to getting it open, plugged in, and working flawlessly. It connected to my laptop immediately, and I'm loving the simple design and overall convenience of this printer. I printed the test page and then one document from my laptop that featured both black and white print as well as a few color sections, and it looked perfect. It holds a decent stack of paper, and I'm optimistic that the ink life will be better than our last printer. Even if we decided to exclusively use Canon brand ink with this, it's more affordable than some of the other brand names out there. Also in my past experience Canon printers haven't been as picky when it comes to replacement ink as some, which is another reason I went with the PIXMA. This comes with introductory ink ... show more

    • This is a great printer (with some gotchas you need to be aware of).
This was a difficult review to write. The printer functions well, but there are some big "gotchas" that you should know about. First, the ink cartridges that come with this printer print very few copies before they run out. I think ours printed fewer than 20 copies before the machine nudged us, saying the ink was almost out and that a replacement would soon be necessary. Second, the ink is VERY difficult to find, and it was more expensive than the printer itself. I couldn't find the ink locally and had to order it online. So, if you run out in the middle of a project, you're out of luck until the postman arrives with your ink order, which could mean disaster. Third, the printer tries to force you into updating the firmware. Don't do it! You can have a fully-functioning printer without updating the firmware. Go online (I used Claude) to find out how to install the printer without updating the firmware. Be wary of what the directions and the printer itself says. Those are tricksy...like they're trying to make you think you have to update the firmware. You don't. You also don't need to install their app, which gives the company permissions that seem invasive to me. Why do app makers need your location, if their services aren't location based? You have download the app if you want to print from your phone. But you don't have to do it if you print from your computer, and that's what I do. No app, no firmware update. Still functions. And why does it want you to "update the firmware," hmmm? I don't know, but my suspicion is that it's probably not in your best interest. I read somewhere--though I don't know the accuracy of this--that the printer companies update their printers' firmware every once in a while to stop their printers from recognizing off-brand ink cartridges, which are much less expensive. The printer companies make money on the ink, not the printers themselves, I think. In any case, don't update the firmware. It's unnecessary--at least for what I need the printer to do--which is copy and print. Fourth--and this one's important!--plug it in where it won't be unplugged and don't turn it off. Keep it on. If it's turned off, the expensive ink you're forced to buy can dry out. Well, the ink in the reservoirs doesn't dry, but apparently the ink on the print heads do. You'll be forced to buy more ink--or a different printer (but ALL of the printers available these days do these sorts of shenanigans, so pick your poison). I use this for remote work over Starlink, which works just fine. No jamming, it's got a small footprint, and it's fairly attractive, as printers go. I appreciate that they included a backlit screen. And the copies it prints are adequate so far--though I've not tried to print out photos on photo paper, just regular copies on regular copy paper. I hope this is helpful, and I hope someone comes along and benevolently helps humanity by making a printer that doesn't cheat the consumer by charging so much for the ink. For now, it seems like it's a race to the bottom. ... show more
