Although the batteries for my old 5D Mk IV do work in the R5, this new style battery lasts longer and performs better. I was also using off-brand batteries that were 1/ the price for the 5D, but I was having lots of glitches with them in the R5. Camera kept freezing and would have to be shut down and restarted several times per session. When I was using this newer style battery that came with the camera, I didn't have those issues. I purchased this second one and am only using the LP-E6NH batteries now and all is resolved. Stick with the canon for this camera.

Brand name batteries are so expensive! I had to get this additional battery for my Canon camera because I didn’t want to deal with a dead battery during a nature shoot. Having two batteries is great. I couldn’t let myself get a generic brand, so I forked out the money for this legit Canon battery. Glad I did.

This is the only way to go. The generic version batteries just don't last for the R5's demands. Just spend the money and forget about your batteries.

First and foremost, the battery life is exceptional. I was amazed by how long it lasted, allowing me to capture countless shots without worrying about running out of power. Whether I was shooting in a studio or exploring the great outdoors, the Canon LP-E6NH provided me with the reliability I needed to focus on my craft. Furthermore, the battery charges rather quickly, which is a huge advantage for any photographer on the go. I appreciated how efficiently it replenished its energy, enabling me to spend more time capturing moments and less time waiting for the battery to charge.

When reading the reviews of the Canon R5 the need for more power was stressed. The R5 does so much more than my other DSLR cameras and the necessary power increase is understood. Their new line of batteries are designed to deliver the needed power and not leave the shooter stranded. In the past year that I have been shooting with the R5 the only "power failure" was my fault for trying to shoot 2 consecutive days without re-charging the battery. It's a great system with excellent power delivery from these batteries.

This is an excellent battery for Canon DSLR's, but why is it so expensive? A few years ago I bought one on Amazon for twenty dollars less. I find that with time, they hold charge less well. I really don't trust the knock-offs for safety and longevity reasons. I may trade in my camera for a newer, mirrorless one which hopefully uses a better, cheaper battery.
