From the Manufacturer Bring What Excites You, CloserTo bring the action closer, experience the difference with Canon's compact and versatile 10x30 IS II. Energy efficient, these can be the perfect binoculars to bring along, everywhere. Excellent Performance, On the GoCanon's 10x30 IS II are lightweight and compact, perfect for bringing along on a wide range of activities: hiking, going to the theatre, sports events, concerts and more. But don't let their compact size deceive, as they incorporate a sophisticated Image Stabilization (IS) system, Canon optics and improved electronics for efficient, brilliant performance no matter the user, no matter the application. Improved Technology for Stunning PerformanceTo maintain stable images at high magnification, without the need for a tripod, the 10x30 IS II feature Canon's Image Stabilization (IS) technology for performance on par with Canon's EF series of lenses. Vari-Angle prisms are placed between the front lens and the main prism. When the binoculars' gyro sensors detect movement, vertical or horizontal, they direct these prisms to compensate and correct for external shaking for smoother panning. A high performance microcomputer with advanced algorithms not only enhances IS operation, it helps provide shorter startup times and more efficient energy consumption. This means a comfortable, stable view that can be easy to maintain, whether standing on a mountain tracking a bird in flight, looking out the window of a moving vehicle or watching the pitcher wind up to throw a strike. High Magnification, Compact SizeCanon's 10x30 IS II feature a refined optical system designed to provide a 10x angle of view with remarkably compact optics. With an objective lens effective diameter of 30mm/1.18 in., the 10x30 IS II offer a great balance between brightness and portability. The Perfect Combination of Compact, Efficient Binocular DesignCanon's 10x30 IS II use a Porro II Prism design. Because both the front lens and the eyepiece use convex-shaped glass, the binoculars' design necessitates a prism system between the front objective lens and the eyepiece to flip the otherwise inverted image that would appear. Porro type prisms are a perfect fit for the 10x30 IS II because they deliver clear, bright images at high magnification with excellent sharpness and minimal light falloff. A Beautiful, Wide Field of ViewThe 10x30 IS II feature doublet field-flattener lenses in the eyepieces. Doublet lenses correct curvature of field, the image quality degradation typical at the edges of the image frame. Thanks to the doublet field-flattener the 10x30 IS II can display a sharp, even view, corner to corner. Longer Operation Without CompromiseWith advanced power-saving electronics, Canon's 10x30 IS II feature a significant energy improvement over previous models when using the Image Stabilizer (IS) function. For example, when using AA alkaline batteries, the 10x30 IS II's IS system works for up to 9 hours. The 10x30 IS II are compatible with nickel-metal hydride (NiMh) batteries as well. More Comfortable, for Longer Periods of UseIn binoculars, the distance from the eyepoint where the image can be seen without obstruction is known as eye relief. When using binoculars, especially for extended periods of time, more eye relief can make for a more comfortable experience over a longer span of time. The 10x30 IS II have long eye relief, providing a generous field of view and making the binoculars more comfortable to look through, especially when wearing glasses. New, Discreet DesignThe 10x30 IS II have an improved external design with a matte front cover, plus an overall anti-reflective design. This is especially helpful for watching birds and wildlife, when remaining inconspicuous is a priority. A rubberized coating on the focus adjustment ring adds improved control. Trustworthy, Excellent OpticsAs with all of Canon's EF lenses, Canon's 10x30 IS II are manufactured with lead-free glass.

  • Sure, You Could Pay another $1000 but WHY? Bragging Rights?
Style: 013803240610
Why pay between 1 and 2K for a heavier pair of stabilizing binoculars when these are so incredible? I'm a wildlife photographer and what I need in binoculars offer crystal clear, crisp viewing; Canon glass has been proven to be quality if not exceptional throughout their product line of lenses, copiers and now binoculars. The feature I was seeking for this pair was the stabilization. I admit I was skeptical simply due to price but once I compared the feature from off to on and back? I'm sold! It steadies the image beautifully and I even viewed birds at a distance holding them with one hand. I'm very impressed! They are lightweight and easy to pack for strenuous hikes. For the price, quality, and impressive stabilization performance I say go for it! ... show more

  • Outstanding! Probably the best overall binocular in the world
Style: 9526B002
I own the 12X36's which are excellent but wanted to try the 18x50's. I'm very impressed! They are a little heavier but the image improvement is very obvious, even to my 85 year old friend. The only thing to know, and I knew this from reviews, is that the image stabilization is slower to stabilize than the IS III's. By about, I don't know, maybe three seconds slower. But it still stabilizes with a crystal clear image. I'm very happy with mine and will be keeping both pair, though I can't imagine grabbing the 12x over the 18x. I have compared these to the most expensive Leicas I have and I would grab either of these over the Leicas without hesitation, and I'm talking about Leicas that cost more than both of these combined. Time to watch the whales! ... show more

  • Terrific binoculars!
Style: 013803240610
A truly "Wow!" product. I know that image stabilization binoculars aren't new, but they are new to me. Looking through them for the first time, and then pressing that image stabilization button, it's like there's a wizard inside there. The image becomes more still, sharper, it's like magic. Truly amazing. While I'm sure the much more expensive Canon IS 10 x 42 L is even better, it's hard to imagine how much better they could be than the 10 x 30's. I had read a lot of good things about the image stabilization ability of the Canon binoculars, but seeing is believing. It really is a very impressive feature. I'll never buy another pair of non image stabilization binoculars again. Pros: The image stabilization feature is great! I like the way the lenses adjust for different users. Feels like a quality build. The IS button is perfectly located and very easy to push and hold. I was worried that having to hold the button down would be a problem. It isn't. Comes with a nice carrying case. Great value for the money. A nice balance of weight, price, quality optics, and power for the casual birder/wildlife observer. One of the people who uses it in our family can only use their right hand and so can't hold the binoculars with two hands. The image stabilization feature works out great for them and makes wildlife viewing and bird watching so much more rewarding. Cons: Attaching the carrying strap to the binoculars new out of the box was a tedious endeavor. It seemed way harder than it ought to of been. I was afraid I was going to scratch the binocular casing trying to get the straps started through the eyelets on the binoculars. I finally did it, though. Just a minor quibble. Also, there are no lens caps for one end of the binoculars! None at all. The other end has lens caps. That's just silly in my opinion. ... show more

  • Nice lightweight binoculars with some drawbacks
Style: 9526B002
Given the low weight, low price and relatively smaller objective, the quality of these IS binoculars is quite good. They are much easier to handle than the much more expensive and HEAVY10x42 L IS binoculars that Canon also sells. However, I ended up returning them for 3 reasons (listed in order of importance to me): 1. The only way to keep the IS activated is to continue to press the “on” button, which means you also can’t focus at the same time; 2. The focus ring is very small and is not in a logical place for my hands. 3. These binoculars are not waterproof. Reasons 1 and 3 would have been solved by purchasing the expensive Canon 10x12 L IS binoculars, but they are almost a pound heavier plus the focus ring is also hard to find. Instead, I found these great 12x42 IS binoculars made by KITE Optics, a Belgian company that I was not familiar with until recently. They are just a bit heavier than the Canon 12x36’s but with the brightness of the Canon 10x42’s, great stabilization, excellent image quality, and comfortable to handle with a long focus ring that is easy to find. They also claim a much longer battery life than the Canons and they do this cool trick - when hanging or otherwise lowered so they are facing straight down, the IS turns itself off. You should definitely look the KITE Optics options before you decide which IS binoculars to purchase. ... show more
