Description

The Campbell Hausfeld 20-gallon, 2 hp, horizontal, portable air compressor (VT6290) can power a variety of air tools for the serious DIY user, professional or contractor. With a dual-voltage motor that can operate on either 120V or 240V current, this versatile air compressor can work in more locations. The large semi-pneumatic wheels make this unit easy to move from one job to the next. Designed for quiet operation, the heavy-duty, cast-iron, two-cylinder pump is oil lubricated for a long life and delivers 5.5 CFM at 90 PSI. Finish your projects faster and easier with Campbell Hausfeld - The Air Power Expert. Power up pneumatic nailers, impact wrenches, ratchets and more with this beefy air compressor from Campbell Hausfeld. Wired for easy hookup to standard household current, this 20-gallon air compressor delivers enough air power to tackle all nailing jobs and works with most moderate air-tool applications. The unit’s 20-gallon horizontal tank rolls smoothly on two large wheels for easy transport, so you can move from site to site smoothly without picking it up. A twin cylinder, oil lubricated engine offers 5 horsepower at peak output. A cast-iron, single-stage pump lets this compressor run more quietly than most compressors in its class, so running the thing close to the jobsite doesn’t mean you have to wear earplugs. The cast iron design and oil lubrication also provides up to 5,000 hours of overall runtime. The unit operates on 120/240 volt service and is pre-wired for 120 volt household current. And, a fully enclosed belt guard and cooling fan keep the engine from overheating for optimal performance on extended jobs. Made in the US, the purchase is covered by a manufacturer 3-year warranty. --Brian D. • Great Compressor Made in USA
At first I was not sure if I should take a chance after reading the other reviews, but I am glad I did. This was delivered by ABF Freight which did a great job shipping. The box the compressor was in was strapped down to its own pallet. You will need to get a coupler for after the regulator and make sure you add oil which you have to supply too. After adding oil and running the break-in period the compressor came right up to pressure and kicks on and off as it should. This is a lot quieter then the direct drive models. Do not get me wrong it does make noise but you can actually talk to someone with this on. Update: I did have to replace the drain petcock after a few uses. I ended up replacing the drain petcock with a ball value using a 90 degree and a small pipe. ... show more

  • Campbell Hausfeld VT62900AJ, very good compressor !!!
I've owned a Campbell Hausfeld VT62900AJ for close to 20 yrs, very good compressor, installed a heavy duty air filter after purchase. I use it all the time. Had to maintain it through it's life, it's due for a new On/off regulator switch assembly, changed the oil several times with compressor oil. Love the cast iron cylinder/block, well worth the purchase. ... show more

  • A very expensive piece of garbage on wheels.
Received this item with broken compressor motor fins, damaged / dented cage, and broken filler cap. Didn't care because it all seemed cosmetic, and the filler cap can be replaced easily. Set it up a month later, broke it in, everything worked fine except when I attempted to remove a lug nut with my impact (the same Impact I used everyday at work) it wouldn't budge. Determined the compressor regulator was bad, figured I'd just request a replacement regulator, no big deal. The next time the compressor motor tried to run, the electric motor stalled, tripped a circuit breaker. Electric motor now does not run at all. I waited too long to set it up and test it out, so now it's been over 30 days and not eligible for a return / refund. every single part of this compressor is defective, except for the wheels, great for rolling it to a dumpster. ... show more

  • VT6290 and FedEx
The manufacturer (25%) and FedEx (75%) are at fault for all the damage the unit received in transit. The box is too weak for such a heavy item. The box was busted on one side causing some of the content to spill outside (a tire and air filter). On top of that, FedEx delivered the box upside down, causing the discharge tube to bend, the air filter to separate from the pump, a busted pressure gauge and a bent handle bar. The FedEx people did not bother to collect a signature because they knew that anyone at home would have refused delivery of the unit in such a poor condition. So they just dropped (upside down) it and ran away. The kind people at Campbell Hausfeld will send me all the damaged parts at no cost to fix it. I decided to get it fixed rather than return it because the box is not suitable for return shippping anymore and I am going on vacation in a week. So I filled the ugly duckling with oil, did the 30 minute pump break in, and it worked very well. The tank takes around 4 minutes to fill up to 135 pounds of pressure. No breakers were tripped. The compressor DOES NOT include oil. It takes 12 ounces of Mobil 1 10W-30 Synthetic oil. You need to get your own couplers and fittings. The air filter supplied causes the compressor to be kind of noisy. When I removed the filter, the noise level drops a few dbs. A motor start-up capacitor rattles inside a round enclosure attached to the motor itself. I wrapped it in insulating foam tape and the noise went away. Except for the awful FedEx delivery, I am happy with the compressor. The people at Amazon really go the extra mile to make sure you are happy with your purchase. Free delivery, free air hose, no tax, and 10% off. Can't beat that. Disclaimer: I do own Amazon.com stock ... show more

  • 20 yr. Update
This compressor has never let me down. I have changed the drain plug a couple of times but that is it. Keep it covered and good maintenance and it should last.
