  • This is an excellent small stove for tailgating
This is an excellent small stove for tailgating, blinds, patio cooking, etc. Very well built, the black frame is cast iron, the silver sides and front/back are aluminum and act as a wind screen. Very impressed with the aluminum burners, thought they might be cheap components, I was completely wrong. The are heavy cast burners that will last for years. I have several larger cookers(doubles and a triple), but they are the typical large, black, heavy LP cookers which are fine, this Ranger II stove is smaller, lighter, easier to tailgate or car camp with. The stove does put out a huge amount of heat, but getting a low simmer is no problem. This stove blows away the smaller butane canister stoves, no comparison. The Ranger II does come with the needed regulator, and even an attached open-end wrench to attach the regulator to the stove. This is a gem of a product, well worth the price. Let me say that again: Well worth the price. This wouldn't be my first choice for a shrimp boil or turkey fry (although, you could in a pinch), think more of a super handy stove for car camping, tailgating, etc. I also purchased the Worthington 4 lb. steel LP tank, perfect camping stove/LP bottle combination. The Worthington tank is very squat, doesn't tip easily, like a standard 20 pound LP bottle. Took a strip of Gorilla duct tape and ran it around the bottom of the tank, took 5 minutes, protects the tank from abrasion, protects surfaces the tank may be sitting on, helps prevent sliding. This smaller stove and the smaller LP bottle are a perfect combo for cooking meals, not cumbersome, perfect for a long weekend or short vacation. The Ranger II is a fantastic stove, well worth the price, puts out a lot of BTUs for such a small, portable unit, comes with the needed regulator, works great with the Worthington 4 lb.LP tank. Not junk, very well made, solid, but lighter, more handy than the regular LP cooker(s). I would give it 6 stars if I could. Coolest piece of camping gear I've scored in a while. ... show more

  • Fantastic! Plenty of room and heat for two skillets.
This stove has plenty of heat for anything ever cook. It's stout and two 10" cast iron skillets fit fine. The picture is 2 8" skillets and there room left over on both burners. The lowest setting is a bit hot for slow cooking or simmering. I think a heat sink of some sort will solve that.

  • Great stove
Great stove. I have it for 7 years and still works. The igniter quit working for a while now but we use the lighter for it. One thing I wish is the burners should place little further apart. The current design is too close together you can’t cool two normal size pots at the same time.

  • Great stove
Excellent quality. The only real issue is setting it at a lower simmering setting. After using it for a few weeks, what a great stove. Make sure to use the right regulator. Recommend not using an adjustable PSI regulator

  • Awesome little stove
Holy cow, this thing is awesome! Just got it yesterday, unpacked it, very easy to hook up. Feels very sturdy and well built. The self-ignition is great, fired up both burners pretty easily. I'm used to my kitchen stove where you turn the knob and it keeps sparking until you turn past the ignition area of the dial. With this stove it fires off just a single spark when you twist the knob. Since you only get one spark per twist, the trick is to slowly turn it on so a little gas can seep out before it sets off the igniter. And boy do those burners generate some heat! Like the other reviews I noticed a flame much higher and more intense than my kitchen stove. I was able to boil a small stainless kettle of cold water in literally just a few minutes. I also love that each burner has its own igniter. That was one of my concerns going into this - what if the igniter fails and I don't have a lighter handy. Since there's two igniters, if one fails you can still light the other one and then burn a twig or something to light it. I'm sure there's probably a very slim chance that both will fail. And you can purchase replacement parts from Camp Chef's website. I highly recommend this stove! ... show more

  • Camp Chef # 1
I've been using camp chef range 3 for many years. But it seems that Camp Chef 2 is only available. I searched through the internet it seem Ranger 3 is no longer available 😢. But Camp Chef Ranger 2 has one problem, you can't cook two big pot side by side. Like Ranger 3 atleast you have the middle burner as a gap to cook two big pots. ... show more

  • Great stove
I do as much cooking as i can with this, can't stand the radiant heat stove. The one thing I looked for was the low heat option. If you put this on the low setting, it still cooks fast and a lot of heat. I had to look closer, the real low setting is placed between the off and high setting, warm. You have to light it first, then turn dial right to go past High into warm area, then adjust the flame to how you want it. All other settings put out a lot of heat, if your indoors, keep an eye on it whatever your cooking will heat up fast. (Indoor cooking not recommended). Two things I would like to see in this product, higher quality gas tube and something to mitigate the heat transfer from the stove to the top of stove. The whole top is one piece, so if your cooking for a while the whole top gets hot. Overall this is a great stove, lots of heat if you need it, and low heat ability. Electric ignition and comes with the hose. ... show more
