I couldn’t be happier with this Calphalon slow cooker! The 5.3-quart size is perfect for making everything from tender roasts to hearty soups, and the stainless steel design looks sleek on my countertop. What really sets this slow cooker apart is the digital timer and programmable controls. It’s incredibly easy to use, and I love being able to set it and forget it. The even heat distribution ensures that everything cooks perfectly—no hot spots or undercooked sections. When I first opened it, I was concerned that the lightweight size meant it was cheap and inferior. Note having used it for so many dishes, the weight and construction are defining. This is a heavy weight in the kitchen!! Cleanup is a breeze, too. The insert is durable and easy to wash (dishwasher safe too), which makes meal prep even more convenient.     • Brilliant!
Love it! Being able to brown the meat on the stovetop in the same pot that goes into the slow cooker is brilliant! It was the main thing that convinced me to go with this Calphalon. And I love it's simple controls. I don't need all the bells and whistles of the electronic ones that are out now. But I do like that this one has a timer that automatically shifts to "warm" when it time out. Perfect compromise! Heats nicely and the difference between "high" and "low" is just right. My only reservation was that the it's not recommended to run the inner pot in the dishwasher. But being non-stick it cleans up really, really easily by hand. So, not a problem. I purchased one listed as "used, like new" and sure enough, it was perfect. It had clearly never actually been used. I assume someone who received it as a gift or something sent it back without even opening it. But, as with a lot of products on Amazon, I guess they do not put returns of these back into stock as new. YMMV ... show more

We love this slow cooker. It's easy to use & the fact that you can put the ceramic container on a burner to brown items before proceeding to slow cooker mode is a big plus! And very easy cleanup. This is a must slow cooker! Go for it!

    • Much better than an old school crockpot!
I started getting frozen slow cooker meals delivered by a local company. I was trying to use the instant pot slow cook setting to cook them but could never figure out the right combination of high/normal/low and time to match their recommended directions. I decided I really needed to get a real slow cooker so I could just follow the directions on the meals. I did not really want a crockpot because they all seem like crap and the lids rattled. My past experiences were not good. I found this one and decided to try it and it is great! My meal cooked at low in the recommended amount of time on the meal of 4 hours and came out perfect. The lid did not rattle. It was easy to clean. It also looks nice and seems to be very high quality. It had no chemical smell as another reviewer stated. Another review noted that the silicone rim absorbs smells. It does. But so does my insta pot. It is not a big deal. My instapot lid always smells like whatever I cooked last and it never affects the food cooking in it. This is the same. So if you have had an insta pot, you will understand this. ... show more

    • Excellent features, takes a little getting used to, hard to find accessories.
First thing out of the way: the unit is large for the actual cooking volume but I think it’s worth it. The round shape interior is a little difficult to find accessories for if you want silicone inserts to make cleanup easier though. I like how tall it is and the shape of the metal insert vessel is excellently designed and the lid is fantastic. I love the timer feature. I will say that the exterior does get warm like a regulator slow cooker so don’t expect the extra bulk to equate to perfect insulation. The metal insert is nice because of its light weight compared to stoneware crocks and that alone could be the only reason to get it. While you can theoretically brown meat inside the crock and then put the whole crock directly into the slow cooker I think you’re much better off browning traditionally with a pan and then adding the meat to the crock. But it’s nice to have the option. It takes a while to get up to temp which I found surprising given the metal insert I figured it would heat up faster. But once you get used to that it’s easy to work with and hold temperature well and my only complaints are that the metal buttons get warm if it’s been at temperature, and that I foolishly bought it full price and then of course it went on sale. I also wish there were dedicated calphalon silicone inserts for this. It’s perfect for 2-4 people depending on what you’re making or up to 6 or more if you’re making a side dish. I have found it to be excellent at long cooking rice as an alternative to a dedicated rice cooker. ... show more

    • So EASY!!
Very easy to use (I mean, there are only 2 cooking temperatures - and it defaults to "warm" at the end of the cycle). Everything cooked in the last 2 months has been - perfect (not due to the cook ;-). And if it's easy to use, it's even easier to clean!! NOTHING sticks to the pot ... but it does need to be washed by hand. (And the pot is very LIGHT since it's not made of stoneware.) It even looks good! Glad I spent the extra dollars! ... show more

    • Awesome slow cooker
This is the best slow cooker I have ever owned. I had come to the conclusion that I hated slow cookers, but decided to give it one more chance. So glad I did. This thing is amazing. You can brown the meat on the stovetop in the liner and then trasfer it to the slow cooker and finish it up. No need to get a fry pan dirty. It cooks in the specified amount of time and doesn't burn anything. It is a breeze to clean. Love it! ... show more
