I'm a big Calphalon fan. When I first moved out on my own when I was much younger, the first actual pans I ever got as a gift from my father were Calphalon. Years ago due to health reasons we stopped using non-stick cookware, and so I was absolutely thrilled to see these. I was super excited and was not disappointed. Opening them up, they look and feel great. They can be used pretty much on anything, and should work even on induction cooktops, though I cannot test this as I don't have one. That is a major plus if you ever head that route however, as you'll already have pans that will work. The build quality seems excellent here, and they came shining and smooth. They've got a nice weight to them, but aren't too heavy like cast iron is. They feel sturdy. Stainless steel is also going to outlast non-stick cookware, so I expect we'll be getting a good long run our of this set. Some huge pluses here? These are marked as oven safe. If you like steaks and you pick up a set of these, and have never done it. Do yourself a favor and finish them up in the oven. Another thing I noticed is when I was making food earlier is the handle, despite also being metal, was not hot. If you keep going long enough it would probably heat up a bit, but didn't with what I cooked (ramen, eggs, fajitas and peppers so far). The pans heat up super quick, and were easy to clean. I was able to get them back to their normal state even after using a deep red sauce. The lids are also great, and look like they're going to be easy to clean. As far as the value, if you've been using cheap pots and pans all your life, you kind of don't know what you're missing in a pot or pan that will cost you a little more. Overall I think these are a great value for what they do, and how long they should last you. ... show more

This stainless steel cookware set by Calphalon is a really nice set of pots and pans that covers pretty much every size and shape needed to fully set up a kitchen for optimal cooking. This would be a fantastic starter set, perfect as a bridal shower or wedding gift. The cookware is stainless steel, and it's really well balanced. It cooks food evenly, the surface is surprisingly non-stick, and it does a beautiful job of caramelizing mushrooms, chicken, and onions. I have an induction cooktop, and these work great with my cooktop. The handles are comfortable to hold, and I didn't have any issues with them getting too hot while I was cooking. I was a little bit hesitant to use the frying pans because I have had negative experiences in the past when cooking with stainless steel that is not non-stick, so I was surprised at how slick and non-sticky these pans were. I was able to sear chicken and create a mushroom sauce, and when the meal was done, my pan didn't have bits stuck all over it. This set has given me the confidence to cook with stainless steel. I love the crispy caramelization that I can get when using these pans! It's so different from my usual non-stick cookware. It opens a whole new world of cooking to explore! These pans are thick and durable, and if taken care of, I expect that they can last a lifetime. They wash easily and clean well. And they are beautiful. At the time of this review, this set is $249.99. This is what I would expect to pay for a set from this brand, and of this quality. I love all the shapes and sizes included in this set, and the clear glass lids are my preference for being able to see my food and keep the moisture and heat in as it's cooking. Extremely pleased with the quality of these Calphalon skillets. I wanted All-Clad but decided that the increased quality probably didn’t justify the massive increase in price for my amateur kitchen. These pieces have a nice weight, heat evenly, flare slightly at the rim, and produce an excellent breakfast scramble. My only gripe is the brutalist handle with square shaped holes.. looks so Soviet. They are well made and fully functional, stay cool over gas burners, but I just find the aesthetic off putting. Rounded edges and maybe a nice curve and these would be 5 stars. I‘ll get used to the handles - nice bang for my buk. Recommended. ... show more

I’ve recently decided to get rid of all my old “non-stick” Teflon-type pans and have replaced them with this 8-piece set of stainless steel Calphalon pots and pans. This set has everything I need: a nice big pan perfect for steaks, burgers, or stir-fries, a sauce pot, a soup pot, and a roomy pasta/potatoes/stock pot. All with handles and well-fitting lids. And all made with that sturdy Calphalon quality that I’ve come to respect over the years. Each piece is a bit heavy, but that just tells me they are made with real quality. They’re not going to warp or degrade over time like some of my old cheap pots and pans did. The high-quality 5-ply 18/10 stainless steel they’re made of is immaculate, shiny, smooth, and perfectly flat on the bottom. I really enjoy cooking with them. They heat up quickly and the heat is distributed evenly throughout. They work well on my glass-top electric stove and can even go right into the oven for some final browning or cheese melting. I have found that with just a little bit of oil or butter in a pre-heated hot pan, they are just as non-stick as my old pans, but they don’t have any dangerous Teflon or any chemical coatings. I feel good about the fact that they are completely non-toxic, free of PFAS, PFOA, Lead, and Cadmium, and safe to use. Nothing bad will leach into the food I feed my family. These pots and pans are dishwasher safe, but I always hand wash them anyway. They wash up pretty easily, and if I’ve inadvertently burnt some food, I can add some Barkeeper’s Friend or some baking soda to scrub it off. To clean off any water spots that dry on the stainless steel, I just spray on a solution of half water, half vinegar, and wipe it off with a microfiber cloth. They look brand new every time! I love taking good care of my Calphalon pots and pans because I know they will last me a very long time! ... show more
