Throwing the bed in the dryer at the lowest temp for 30 minutes as others suggested makes it fluff up a lot. I don't know how this bed compares to other shag/anxiety beds but this is a good pet bed. My cat can be picky. She doesn't like sleeping directly on my bed so I had a cardboard box that she liked always on my bed so that she will still sleep with me at night. But I kind of hated that box. Without getting too sappy, I love my dog so much and am always looking for ways to make her happy. I ordered this donut bed, even though my Corgi has two other beds, but because other dogs seem to love this bed. I barely got it fluffed up and put on the floor when she was in it, snuggling and wiggling and settling in for a nap. It's her bed of choice, and it warms my heart that she loves it. We found an abused & emaciated Shih Tzu puppy several week ago at our front door at night. After a lot of medical care we adopted her. Great dog who found her forever home. We bought this bed, nothing but the best. It’s plush, pretty & comfortable. We had a small size different brand, but quickly ordered this one in a medium so she can stretch out & grow. When this bed came in I was worried it was too small and that it wouldn't work for my dog. He's a beagle weiner mix (LONG leggy body) and about 40 lb so I thought I made a mistake in my size selection and was thinking I'd need to make a return. I read a lot of complaints here, but I don't think that is fair, especially considering the low price. It is a pretty good bed. And note!!!, after I washed it, it really fluffed up quite a bit. I washed it gentle in cool water, and also dried it gentle cool. Or maybe it was warm. Anyway it was on a lower setting in both washer and drier, and I was surprised how it fluffed up quite a bit. It also came out of the wash/dry nice, not bunched up in places or deformed as I have seen with other beds. My dogs love them, I got three of them, small, medium and large. All my dogs are little, but they still like the larger ones, sometimes two sleep together in one. Just be sure you are gentle and cool with the wash/dry, at least no more than warm. The bubble gum is really a cute color. PICTURES: These show how well the bed fluffed up thicker after washing and drying as described above. The brown one has my old Chihuahua Cierra in it, and you can see how more puffy it is than the bubble gum bed I have not washed yet, with my Maltese Rejji in it. It is so soothing, at first I was scared that Cierra might have died, she was so deep into sleeping enchantment that I had to scream to wake her up. ... show more

This is a beautiful high quality bed. I washed and dried it right away and it fluffed up so well. Our picky cat immediately got so cozy in it and purred like a motor! Highly recommend! I've seen beds at the pet stores comparable for double the price!
