So, I got this as a tiny fireplace for my man to enjoy, I even got tiny skewers, and all the fixings for smores. It was our 1 year anniversary present, and he absolutely loves it! I thought that rubbing alcohol would smell as it burned but it doesn't, and it doesn't make the food smell weird either. I did notice a couple of things this brand has that others don't. First off, it has a snuffer to put out the flame, and second, it has a very powerful grip on bottom so it can't easily be knocked over. Other brands I looked at had neither of these things. It made it am easy choice. The stone is smooth but grippable, and the fluid holder has a line to show you where to fill to, and is also easily removable, another thing other brands didn't get right. The flame is the perfect size to have an indoor bon fire, to roast weenies and marshmallows. The kids and my Partner have exclaimed how amazing it is to be able to bring a taste of summer inside for winter fun. Sometimes I just light it for the ambiance. I initially bought it to roast marshmallows and it doesn’t get quite hot enough to get a nice brown on them, but you can light them on fire and have a marshmallow that way. It seems very safe and extremely easy to use. We used it about five times and it looks like there’s a small crack happening on it which is why I took away a star. It also gets a char on it if you use it on a slightly windy day, but most of it comes off. It’s a nice product for style and safety if you have kids around. ... show more

This item works as advertised. I used 80% alcohol and it worked fine. It's heavy, and one must be careful with the lid as the edges want to flake. Great item, just needs a gentle hand. Would buy again.

Takes a minute to light, but once it gets going, works great! Have tried both 70% and 90% alcohol and the 90% definitely works better. 70% will do the job though. Over, love it. 👍👍 Would recommend.
