I love the look of this toaster, it matches other Cafe appliances I have. It looks unique and modern. Toast are made within 60 seconds. You can put in frozen bread and push frozen it will defrost then cook. Need it faster you push express. Wow this toaster is so cool I love it. It has extra wide slots. You can also reheat your bagel, toast etc. It will take thick or thin bread. The lever stays down when you push it down. The setting are easy to use. It’s worth the money I paid. I don't ask much from a toaster. For many years, I've used a vintage Dualite classic, but it was showing showing signs of needing an element, and I know from experience the perils of trying to get the right part. And it never toasted both sides evenly. It does this because the sides of the slot move in toward the middle when you depress it, holding the slice in the exact middle. Not a high speed toaster for the impatient. This one does. The toast it produces is just about perfect. Good range of color control. Easy to use. Big enough slot to accommodate the wide slices of more upscale bread. Very nice looking, too, although a bit in your face. It's a bit easy to bump the color control on the front, as it moves very easily, so watch that. ... show more

It's difficult to find a toaster that isn't plastic these days, and this Cafe model is made of what feels like sturdy metal. The browning knob and push-buttons are plastic, which is fine. But the lever you push down on to toast is also a lightweight plastic covered in what feels like foil paint. It looks fine from most distances, but will certainly appear cheap if the paint starts to flake off. I do like that this model has push buttons and a knob rather than a digital display (less to break), and overall it's a very nice looking toaster that toasts as well as any of them. I purchased a similar-looking toaster (from Drew Barrymore's "Beautiful" line) earlier this year for a little less than half the price of this one, but it felt like it would flip over whenever I pushed down on the lever. Prior to that, I had a very solid, 4-slice Cuisinart one that lasted about a decade. ... show more

I regret purchasing the GE Café 2-Slice Toaster. At this price point, you expect premium quality and support. Instead, I got a product that failed and a customer service experience worse than what you’d expect from a budget toaster. The unit stopped working, and getting warranty support turned into a months-long ordeal. Calls went unanswered, emails were ignored, and there was no continuity or ownership of the issue. I was initially assigned a representative who never responded, and every attempt to escalate just routed me back into the same ineffective support loop—repeatedly asking for documentation I had already provided. After weeks of back-and-forth, a new representative requested entirely different evidence (a video instead of the photos previously submitted), forcing me to go out of my way again just to demonstrate a clearly defective product. The performance itself is unacceptable. Toasting is wildly inconsistent—burnt edges with a raw center—making the product unusable. This is not a minor defect; it fails at its core function. I had been considering upgrading my kitchen to the Café line, but this experience completely changed that decision. If this is how warranty issues are handled, I have no confidence in the brand. At a premium price, basic reliability and competent customer support shouldn’t be optional. Unfortunately, this product delivers neither. Save your money and look elsewhere. UPDATE After multiple escalations, I was instructed to destroy the toaster (cut the cord and provide proof) before a replacement would be issued. Even more concerning, the replacement unit would only be covered under the remaining warranty period of the original toaster—approximately one month—rather than receiving a standard new warranty. That decision alone speaks volumes. A company confident in its product would stand behind a replacement unit. Based on this experience, I’ve lowered my review to one star. ... show more

This was exactly what I was looking for. Not only does it work well it's so attractive on my kitchen counter. I did some research and with all the positive reviews I chose this model. I have to say I am extremely pleased! Definitely good quality, toast well and I like all the various settings. The wide, long slots are great for bagels and other bakery breads. The express finish is a great function when you are in a hurry. It also has a reheat and frozen selection which is an added bonus. It cost a bit more but it's entirely worth it. ... show more
