Great light weight rod that I paired with a Penn 3500 spinning reel and 17 pound test braided line. Handled flounder, sea trout, red and black drum effortlessly. I like the sensitivity and action for both bait and artificial lures. The rod performs exceptionally well and is very comfortable and reliable for both inshore and offshore fishing. The customer service staff were very considerate and even replaced a rod that suffered a broken tip while traveling free of charge. I liked the rod so much that I bought a second one for freshwater fishing. Just what I was looking for. A "whippy" rod tip to make long casts with tiny crappie jigs. Rods in the stores are way too stiff in my opinion. Three trips out so far and love it.

I ordered the 7' UL 2pc model. This feels like a decent quality product. The packaging was awesome. It was in a heavy cardboard tube with soft foam inserts to keep it from bouncing around in the tube. The rod was also wrapped in plastic inside the tube. The tube was inside a carboard box. The rod itself is pretty thin and so is the handle. The diameter of the handle is quite a bit smaller than what I'm used to with all of my other ultralight rods. The rod is very flexible and I'm unsure if I can land anything bigger than about a one pound fish. The flex of the rod seems to be similar to a fly rod based on my limited experience with fly rods. The joint between the two pieces feels ok, but fit a little more loose than most of my other rods. I have read previous reviews that said the joint was loose. Hopefully it doesn't loosen up over time. I checked the rod for any signs of cracking, or loose guides. Everything feels good. I'll give it another close inspection before it sees any water. Most of my UL setups are 5.5-6' and I'm putting together a setup that will give me more reach with light tackle. I've ordered three rods and will keep one or two. If I end up keeping this rod, I'll update my review after some field testing.

I purchased the Cadence Fishing CR5 Spinning Rod as a Father's Day gift, and it was a huge hit! The rod is lightweight yet incredibly sturdy, made with 30-ton carbon, which makes it both sensitive and durable. Top Two eyes broke/fell off below the tip while I was fishing. How the hell is that even possible? Two weeks past the return date so no replacement. Guess I'll have to repair it myself. Disappointing.

I admit that I was more than a little nervous about ordering a rod from a fairly young, and relatively obscure company like Cadence. But, it was the best purchase I've made in recent times for fishing kit. This rod is absolutely outstanding!!! I ordered the 6 ft 6 in 2 pc Light Power Moderate Fast action rod. When I first opened the box and simulated casting with it, I was worried about how "whippy" it was. But knowing how phenomenal Amazon customer service is, and how great their return policies are I figured, what's the worst that could happen? This rod is extremely light. Lighter than my beloved Fenwick Eagle. Every part of it feels premium. The balance is 2nd to none. So I mated my new Pflueger President reel (3000 size) to it and casted a few times with just a sinker attached to the line (the line I use now is Suffix Elite Mono.) It was better than I could've ever hoped for. It casts great distances seamlessly. I bought this rod on a whim right before my recent Trout trip out to Western MD in the fall of 2017. It performed perfectly. We caught nearly 100 trout in 3 days. This rod has quite a bit of bend in it under load, but it has More than enough back bone to haul nice fish in. In fact, I caught an 18 inch rainbow that weighed over 4 lbs on the trip. That fish was no match for my new rod and reel. I feel confident enough in this rod that I'd easily take it small mouth bass fishing. This this is a steal at $50! It could easily be priced between $80-120 and still be a deal. These are sleeper rods if there ever were such a thing. My one and only little gripe: the hook keeper. It's the bent, nearly flush type. I had a jig head or 2 pop off of it before I could reel in the slack to keep it in place. But hey, who cares? I cannot say enough positive things about this rod. If Cadence does this good of a job with rods, I'll have to make it a point to eventually try out their reels. You've made a believer out of me. I'll buy only Cadence rods from here on out. I'm going to outfit both my wife and my son with these rods from here on out. Side note: Cadence donates a portion of their sales to helping kids get out to fish. This is extremely important to me as a fisherman. This is also one of the reasons I decided to buy a piece of their gear. So go and buy a rod from them immediately!!!
