  • Good quality
My daughter is going into 5th grade and she has been playing this violin for almost a year. The violin has held up very well. She has 2 violin teachers and neither one has ever had any complaints about the quality of the violin. She takes the violin in the bus sometimes twice a week and the case is durable and strong so far holding up well and protecting the violin, yet is light and easy for her to manage. She likes the separate pocket in the case where she can put her lesson books and music. ... show more

  • My daughter loves her new violin
Received the violin 2 days after the order was placed. The violin is definitely a playable instrument and appeared to be professionally setup as promised, as expected the violin needed to be tuned on arrival. I brought the violin to a local shop to have the finger tape installed for my daughter, and while there I had it inspected by their violin repair guy(elderly European gentleman whom I'm sure has been working on violins 50 years) and got his stamp of approval with no adjustments needed. Included accessories are great, thr bow seems good the case is also nice. I was missing a book that was supposed to be included, so I contacted Kennedy violin and they are sending them out with no problems, great customer supporr. ... show more

  • Problems with violin bow
The media could not be loaded. I would have given a much better rating if it wasn't for the problems with the bow. The last e-mail I got before I gave up following up stated "It doesn't appear the bow or bow hair is worn out yet or that there's more hair missing than the bow needs to play well. It still looks to have a pretty full hank of hair coming out of the frog. I'm not seeing any mass breakage, just normal breakage of the hair. It should still be fine to play on. Usually I just carefully cut off any very loose or broken hairs when they break on my bow. Is there some issue with the way it's playing? Also we recommend replacing or rehairing a bow at least every year, but that doesn't mean it couldn't use it earlier or that there won't be a noticeable difference after 10 months of playing time on the bow." Now we will go somewhere else for the future violin needs. Here's the story, I placed the order on 6/2/2020 for my daughter, a beginner, who practices 30-45 minutes depending on her schedule 4-5 days the most per week, and then has a 45-min lesson with instructor once per week (starting 2021). The first photo was taken on 7/8/2020, 36 days or 1 month and 6 days since purchase made. The rest of the photos were taken on 3/21/2021, 292 days or 9 months and 19 days since purchase made. I have to say they do respond quickly. 7/9/2020 e-mail respond stated "... I wouldn't worry; bows are made with 13% more hair than necessary in order to accommodate the occasional hair breaking or becoming loose. You can just clip the loose hairs at the ends (I use nail clippers for this purpose) and use the bow as normal. If a large amount of the hair is loose, however, please let me know and I will send a replacement!" 3/25/2021 e-mail respond stated "... It's pretty normal for bows to break hairs over time. A bow is haired with about 13% more hair than is needed to play well. From the pictures you sent I don't see any type of mass breakage that is out of the ordinary. It's pretty in line with about every bow I've played which you break a hair from time to time. I also recommend that a bow should be rehaired or replaced at least every year. Bow hair breaks over time and also stretches and wears out. People who play a lot or professionals often get their bow rehaired more often even up to every 6 months. Since the Brazilwood bows aren't designed to be rehaired it's cheaper to replace them, but I'd also recommend if you're on the 4/4 size to consider investing in a bow that is able to be rehaired. Bows of that level not only play better but you can get them rehaired as needed." I stated that my daughter is a beginner and disclosed the time that she actually plays the violin. My sister and her two daughters all plays violins and have their own set. She looked at the photos and video I send her, and said it's way worse than what they bows looks normally. I also mentioned to Kennedy Violins that the violin teacher recommended a new bow. ... show more

  • Sound quality not good.
After reading all the good reviews, we decided to order Bunnel Pupil Student violin without trying in person. We received the violin and tried. The bass sound were buzzing. We expected this would sound better, but the violin we are currently renting sounds a lot richer, louder and deeper. We are disappointed at the quality of the sound and returning this violin. ... show more
