I bought this before the '360' type with directional arrows came down in price. Works great with all functions, something you expect from Escort and has always given me proper warnings way before I got into the nasty cop detects my speed range. I have 5 high end 'fast' cars and a high end Silverado 1500 LTZ with a Callaway upgrade (super charge, tuning, etc.) and have never gotten a speeding ticket while using an Escort Detector. I've been an Escort user for over 20 years, again with no tickets...knock on wood so to speak. Highly recommend this one for those on a lower budget, though I'll admit I've waited for the ones with directional arrows to reduce in price/come on sale and have bought several of those (I have an Escort for each on my vehicles, don't want to mess around with putting one into another vehicle, what can I say.) when they did come on sale. Just Love my Escorts and always will!

Don’t know if it’s incriminating to leave this review, but I’ve picked up radar from 2 1/2 miles away with this rig. It’s paid for itself by avoided tickets, and saved my life from hours of excessive travel time now that I can go the speed I want … not that I drive over the speed limit or anything.

It’s a shame that escort radar detectors used to be good, but I don’t know if because of the economy or the way the world has been lately. But this escort MAX 3 is by far one of the most disappointing escort radar detectors I’ve bought. I have been testing radar detectors for the past 30 years. I have quite the collection, when a new model comes out I usually like to buy it and test it. I own about 40 classic cars and I keep a radar detector in each one. So they don’t go to waste. But I do test them in my daily driver for about a month before I switch them into another car. Unfortunately, this radar detector just does not meet the standards that I am used to from more expensive escort brand radar detectors. It is very slow to detect a signal, it seems you have to be almost on top of the radar source or you have to be driving extremely slow for it to eventually pick it up and give you a warning. My theory is that it has a very slow scanning speed because it is a radio receiver that receives microwaves (radar), and it Has to scan through the microwave spectrum, and on that spectrum there are channels just like your FM, radio in your car. Except these channels are much higher frequency. This radar detector is very slow to respond to a radar source, I have a stalker radar gun that I have used to test it and it takes sometimes up to 6 seconds before it will give me a warning. unfortunately that is entirely too long. When the UNIDEN R3 which is one of my current favorite radar detectors gives a warning within a half a second of me, pulling the trigger on the stalker, radar, speed gun. Unfortunately, I wanted to love this radar detector but I don’t, the self learning feature is nice, and there are a lot of good features on it, but it just does not perform well and unfortunately, this is the same electronics manufacturer that makes cobra radar detectors, which are some of the worst I have tried so maybe there just sharing technology because Cedar electronics owns both cobra and escort.

I’ve been using this detector for a few months now. It’s far superior to my previous escort detector . It mounts very easily to the window. The device quickly disconnects from the window bracket for easy storage. It also has far fewer false alerts unlike my older device. I don’t recommend leaving it attached to the windshield when not it use , due to possible damage from sunlight heat and also from potential thieves. If you just need a basic detector that won’t put a hole in your wallet, then give this one a try .
